I bought a husky three weeks ago, and she was so perfect. The worker at the pet store knew that she had round worm and kennel cough when they gave her to us. A week later she got really really sick because of the round worm and kennel cough, so we rushed her to the vet and we got medication. We went up the the pet store to let them know that her other dogs had these illnesses also. We were not there to get money out of them, but to notify them they need to treat their other husky that were apart of her litter. The lady did not seems to care at all and let us know that they knew she had this. They told us that the puppy was born August 30th which would of made the dog three months. When she went to the vet she was only six weeks old. These people do not even know the real age of their dogs. Sadly to say our princess Kya passed away two weeks later.

At first I couldn't understand some of the terrible reviews of this place. Then I realized it was because he's a conservative and some people just don't like those types of people. Usually the same ones who claim that conservatives are racists which could be nothing further from the truth. I've seen it before. They'll try to shut him down for him being so bold as to wear his patriotism on his sleeve. I will always support him and I have never known anyone with a more caring heart as Tom when it comes to animals. Anyone who knows him knows this.

I adopted a kitten here who is literally the cutest little cat. Unfortunately that is the only good thing I have to say about this place! After adopting the kitten she seemed lethargic and only wanted to cuddle which I didn't mind but I knew something was up. I took the kitten to a vet I was comfortable with since the people at the shop were very rude and did not make me feel comfortable at all. Upon inspection they told me my kitten had a upper respiratory infection which was caused by cat herpes (luckily not spreadable to humans!) The vet was very concerned about her weight and said she was very dehydrated so I gladly payed the bill got her meds and such and was on my way. After about a week my kitten was looking so much better and was a playful little cat. Then I get a call from pick of the litter saying a cat had been returned with what else but ringworm and after inspecting my cat what else do i find but some good old ringworm oh joy! They told me I could bring her in for a sulfur bath and that I would have to come weekly to get rid of it... excuse my language but f*** that why on earth would I bring this cat right back to the place she got all of this crap from?! This place is a JOKE and obviously does not know the proper sanitation they need to take to ensure healthy animals. The woman working the day I went in was so mean to the dogs yelling and even cussing all while children and customers were around. I love my kitten and I don't care about the vet bills I just want her to be healthy and happy but these people should be ashamed of the way they treat animals :(

I went to "Pick of the Litter" and fell in love with one of the rescue dogs they had available. She had some medical issues so I wanted to take 1 night to think about/prepare to bring her home. I requested that they hold her for me, to which they agreed. They posted my name and phone number and a "HOLD" tag on the cage to make all employees aware. I returned the next day thinking I would bring this dog home. The woman at the desk (same woman I talked to the night before) informed me that they sold her AT CLOSING the night before. Nobody called me to even inform me that there was another party interested. This was an extremely dissapointing experience as I had spent the night preparing for the arrival of my new addition. What's worse is that the people in the store were completely uncaring about what they had done. They basically just walked away from me when I was talking to them. I will never return to this store. It appears to be a shady place anyways. It's overcrowded with animals kept in poor conditions.

I just want to thank this pet store for uniting me with my best friend, Bella. This Sunday, March 3rd, is her fifth birthday. I purchased this awesome puggle when she was a little over 3 months old. She has been extremely healthy & couldn't be any more loving.
Prior to having Bella, my family bought a beagle from the same owner at his shop in Brunswick. Our beagle, Rico, was also a beautiful & gentle animal.

Awesome pet store. We got two of our best dogs from there. The owner is a wonderful man who loves animals and rescues them daily from the pound so that they do not get euthanized. Would recommend to anyone!

My daughter and I went into this store yesterday and we were both completely horrified. There were so many dogs in tiny spaces (aquarium size). There were 4 miniature dachshunds in a aquarium. The thing that shocked us the most, were most dogs were sleeping and they all had wood chips in their cage. One dog that was awake was trying to eat the woodchips. I seriously was staring at dogs to see if they were alive or not, because there was no movement.
The store also had 2 large rescue dogs in a larger area but it was like a small barn where they couldn't really see out of.
This place is the worst pet store I have ever seen in my life. Those animal stand no chance living in that environment.

Back in October of 2011, I bought my parti colored mini "purebred" pom from pick of the litter in strongsville mall. Best decision i ever made by the way, yet very hard. I knew something wasn't right at first, because not only did I pay almost a grand for him, but he was mute for the longest time, scared, & had the worst anxiety I've ever encountered with an animal. (I've had my share.)
he couldn't keep a single thing down, had liver failure, and was in the hospital for a few days instantly.
I took him to the vet as soon as I got him to see how his health was, and they couldn't believe it when I handed them his papers. They said all of his shots were inaccurate, & the papers didn't even seem real. (In other words, he never had any medical attention.)
I have asked professional breeders, a couple different vets, & some groomers what breed he is because he has a wolflike husky hair and doesn't have many pomeranian features, he's more wolf & foxlike. NOBODY, not even the AKC has been able to tell me what kind of dog i have, but they have told me it seems that he has faulty papers. He is now a year & 2 months old, & has MAJOR MAJOR healthproblems to this day. & not to mention, i have him on the most expensive food possible, literally. he just started acting up to the point where he has been impossible for us to train, but i will never get rid of him and i will always love him the same. my love for him is unconditional, and always will be. but seriously, this place IS A JOKE. i mean really, who keeps dogs in a closed in fish tank and sawmill chips? a very rude, uncaring, petshop, that's who! if i were you, i would never even step foot in there, & I WILL BE REPORTING THEM, NO DOUBT.

(oh, and to you ignorant idiots that think there's nothing wrong with this place, you are dumber than a freakin rock, seriously. i know a bunch of people that have had issues with this place. they won't even tell you where they get their pets... hmmm. WAKE UP!)

My fiance and I purchased an English Bulldog/ Puggle Mix from this store a year and a half ago. He is simply the best dog we could have ever asked for. He has an amazing temperment, is very obedient, and loves us unconditionally. We would absolutely consider purchasing another dog from Pick of the Litter. The staff was extremely nice and genuinely cared for the animals. They do not support puppy mills (numerous signs are posted around the store) and were very willing to answer any of our questions.

I love this store. The owner LOVES animals and proves it every time you see him and his staff walking these dogs outside and doing everything they can to help with rescue animals...of course most people want the puppies and kittens, but he makes the room to get the rescue animals in his pet store so that they will have a better chance of getting adopted because of all the exposure they have with people coming in to look at puppies and kittens. I adopted our wonderful new addition to our family, "Poptart" - she is an 8 year old beagle mix who we fell in love with when we visited this store. When we adopted her, the owner saw us with her and you wouldn't believe the reaction my dog had when she saw him, she completely loves him, licking him and wagging her tail. He truly loves animals and he is doing such a great service saving the unwanted dogs and cats from being euthenized.. take a look at how early in the morning he and his staff are there, walking the animals, cleaning their bedding...you won't believe the time he puts into the store. For the girl who said she got a "nasty" bulldog who turned out (after 8 months) to be aggressive...that is clearly not the fault of the pet store! If the dog became aggressive, how can you blame the store after 6 months? In fact, I'm surprised he even offered you a new puppy in exchange...which you refused...and you can't expect to get a refund after 8 months, that's just ludicrous! People, pet stores are always going to be around...luckily for us, this guy has a wonderful heart and has found a way to make a living plus giving back in the way he can to help the dogs and cats who need new homes. If you've walked in once, and you post such negative remarks, you obviously haven't had a good look at this place nor got to look at how well kept these animals really are...you should go back again, stop judging, see for yourself that this pet store is one of the best you've ever visited.

so you dumb a**'s are telling me that the other pet store in the mall s better. because to be completely honest with you idiots who wrote a bad review, this place takes care of its dogs well. i dont understand that if you beat a dog its bad, just like kids, if you dont teach them whats wrong then they will never learn. and when it comes to dogs, spanking them is how you can teach them. and the store smells because of the fact that animals crap and they pee, and they do clean up after them when they do. i just dont understand how dumb society has gotten over the past couple years. all because a dog is beaten to teach it a lesson, which many people do, and because the store smells, that means its abusing its animals???? all you people who say that are crazy and wacked out of your minds. to tell the truth. this place is great and i got a dog from here and unlike the other pet store in the mall, the dog didnt have any diseases from mistreatment and it wasnt aggressive at all. she is a sweet little yorkipoo and i love her with my life. overall, best pet store i have seen in the mall.

The owner is a good man and truly cares about the animals. Most of the animals would get put down if they weren't there. I have adopted animals from there in the past that would definately have been put down had they not been there. I like that the shop is in the mall, it gives people set on going to Petland another choice. Just like in animal shelters, there is an overcrowding problem. We need to convince people to stay away from the commercial pet stores and go to shelters and places like these. There are too many pets being bred.

All of the dogs that are in the store are brought in from shelters and from people who can't take care of their dog's puppies. If it smells, that's only because animals make waste and the high volume of animals in the store would cause an extreme odor. Get over it. I was playing with a puppy there today near the back room and I heard the owner calling the Medina shelter because he had room for a couple more dogs. He is saving these animals from being killed. I have bought 2 dogs through this store and they are both wonderful pets and I wouldn't trade them for the world. If you have something negative to say, maybe you should buy a pet from the store first, or even have a chat with the employees.

While in the store this afternoon, with my 11 year old nieces alongside me, we watched a store worker manhandle one of the dogs. This particular dog (adult dog, roughly 35 lbs-ish) was scrapping with another dog, so the worker grabbed him by the tail, lifting him all the way up over the pen they were in. I was horrified, as were the poor children with me. That is NOT the way to handle dogs wrestling around, plain and simple. I will be making some phone calls first thing Monday morning...I only wish I had it on video, for hard proof.

I can't believe some of these reviews! I have known the owner personally for several years and I have never met a person who cares more about animals than this person. Their entire life has been devoted to the well being of neglected and unwanted pets. I do agree a rude staff is never a good thing and should definatley be addressed. I just think people need to get their facts straight before blabbing about something they have no clue about.

I am very disgusted with POTL. I purchased a 9 month old YorkiePoo from here in March 2011. He had both ear infections, fleas, worms, and was extremely thin. Luckily I am a Professional Dog Groomer and am very knowlegable of these conditions and am able to get him back to a healthy state.

The bottom line is they are very unsanitary, WAY WAY over priced, and they just want the money. They dont seem to care about the animal at all! I will never walk in there again!

I agree with the many negative claims on here about this store and those of you that think so highly POTL are so mistaken. These types of establishments do not rescue dogs or any animals from shelters etc they get their dogs from puppy mills and you think that it is okay. We are contributing to the cycle by buying from these places. Do you really think it helps their social and growth development to be living in a fish tank! The cats at your local PetSmart/PetCo have more room to move around than the pets at POTL. What kind of life is this for these pets, let alone the cats and the lemur. It saddens me when I have to walk past it and cannot believe this place is still in business. Seriously, this place needs to be shut down and we can all write our reviews on here but it needs to go further by getting our local humane society involved and moving up the chain till something is done heck even the news stations that investigate consumer complaints etc.
Also, file a complaint with the Ohio Attorney General, there is one complaint in there file. If more are filed they will investigate further too.
http://www.ohioattorneygeneral.gov/ConsumerComplaint
Also, if you have pictures of the pets in tanks etc it can be uploaded to the OH Attorney General Complaint Page. The more information that can be provided the better.

This is one of the most REAL pet stores I have ever seen! The puppies are taken care of very well. They are kept in glass cages because it is the most sanitary. As for the the reviews that say there is little air for those pups you are wrong, if you know how the cage exterior is built you would understand. And the pups are also in animal bedding ( pine chips) NOT saw dust. And as a puppy gets to big for the glass cage they are moved into a large puppy pen. No puppy is drugged either! The lemur is over 15 years old and is getting a second chance in life as well as some other cats and dogs.My 2 dogs and 2 cats have been through this pet shops owner and I have had NO problems with any of them! I grew up in Strongsville and I don't know what happened over the years, but some of you reviewer need to get real!

This store needs to be shut down, now!!!! You never put an animal in a cage with saw dust, let alone puppies. The animals are covered in sawdust, there were three large rescue dogs shoved into a tiny little barn and one was so scared it was trying to dig its way out. The animals look scared and were covered in sawdust, which was covering one of the puppies entire eye. The store also smelled really bad and was very hot because of all the people and cages shoved into a very tiny space. Please shut this place down and give these animals to homes that are loving and most importantly clean.

This place takes exquisite care of their animals. Although there is a foul like odor when you walk in, it is only of the natural sources throughout the store. These animals are very happy with their caretakers as you can see whenever they see them.

Sorry but this pet store is not helping with the pet population by bringing in puppies that are pretty much from Puppy Mills. Real breeders DO NOT sell to pet stores. There are sooo many dogs/puppies/kittens being turned into the pounds/shelters, there is no need to get one from here. Plus when you see the same breeds in that store, that is a MILLER buyer. You cannot get healthy animals from parents that are kept in small cages bred over and over till they are killed because they don't produce anymore. That is the way Puppy Mills and Amish Puppy Mills work, it's all about the money. Southpark Mall is getting a bad rap from having to Puppy Mill stores in their so called high class mall.

I walk in. Within 2 minutes, a blonde-haired woman who worked there was extremely rude and made a scene when my friend quietly made a comment to me about how HORRIBLE the place smelled. The people who run this place are extremely unprofessional, especially with how they scribble political psychobabble all over their store and alienate 50% of their customer base. But let's get to the REAL issue here...

Put simply, I just wish this store would be banned from the mall. They place two or more puppies in glass aquariums where they have little space or air. They always look pretty filthy and unhealthy. No information is given on the origin of their dogs... which can raise suspicion, because even Petland will disclose the name and address of the breeder.

They have kept a lemur on display for years. They have had sugar gliders and other exotic animals in birdcages, and they have sold pot-bellied pigs; selling wild animals as house pets is pretty much the one of the biggest mistakes a small business can make... if they can't even care for them properly, how can anyone off the street do it right?

I went into pick of the litter 6/2007 they were housing skunks in a glass aquarium. Their water dispenser was not working and thet were digging around on the bottom of their cage trying to find water. Meanwhile there was a guinea pig chewing on a metal wood staple that I physically had to take away from him myself. The puppies are sleeping and playing with sawdust. Shouldn't these "caretakers" know that sawdust can't be good for their respiratory systems let alone digestive systems. They are puppies they chew on
everything. I really think these people need to spend some money on classes for proper environment and enrichment for these little growing minds and bodies.

I never in my life seen a pet store so deplorable where they keep animals locked up in fish aquariums where they get very little air. The dogs look like they have been drugged. They have a lemur and a pig that should not be in a pet store. They also had so many bias political sayings posted all over the store with markers. In a pet store why? I couldn't wait to get out of there it just brought me to tears. How could a mall let a pet store open like that? If everyone who reads these reviews PLEASE!! call PETA call your council man. I know I cannot let this store stay open. Report them to the news stations. Don't let these animals stay in deplorable conditions.

I can assure you all Pick of The Litter is a good store at heart.I was perfectly fine with being there. They have sold many animals and hardly ever received complaints.Pet stores always have strict requirements for their puppies and are assured they weren't exposed to any harmful items or fumes.Same for diseases. One of the satisfactory things they offer is free vet care for a certain amount of time for certain problems. The lemur is very happy where he currently lives and is usually sleeping at early morning or late night.I believe the Coatimundi is also very happy. The dogs do play happily and rarely fight. The only time there is real nipping is at feeding time. The dogs in the big cage do not look to be at all drugged and usually have a sad past or are just tired. That is because they are rescue dogs from a shelter. Some of their other animals are rescues and this is a very good store.

I??m not aware if the store is breaking any rules, but this store should be shut-down. It appears that the dogs do not have sufficient air that enters the cages. There are ??slits? that allows air to come in. The animals lay in mulch/woodchip like clippings. The clippings are stuck to the animal??s fur. They have multiple dogs in a large ??play pen?. The dogs trample and fight with one another (and no, it was not playing) The other ??play pen? it appears that the dogs may have possible been drugged. They all just lay there with a ??blah? response. The store only had one employee working ?? a young girl. I can only imagine where these dogs/cats come from. This store is despicable. I can not believe that SouthPark mall would allow such a thing to stay open.

The store has very small spaces for these animals who are stuck in tiny cages with nothing but food and water. Not to mention, the wild animals that are caged up and have no worldly business being in spaces smaller than the outdoors, on other continents. The owners are stuck in the 1970s with their anti-political agendas, printed-out email forwards (which I'm surprised they even knew how to read and print an email), and not to mention complete avoidance of helpful technology.

I walk into the store and feel nothing but remorse for the wasted steps.

This is a horrible store! I can't believe that they think it is acceptable to have both a ring tailed Lemur and a Coatimundi held captive and on display. These animals deserve so much more. Anytime I have seen the lemur, he is curled up in a ball in the corner, it is so sad. Lemurs are social animals and should never be treated as "pets". The people that run and own this store are despicable!!!!

Perhaps if they paid more attention to care of the poor animals than their weird political agenda, they would be able to better serve you.
The place is filled with inappropriate diatribe (scrawled oh so very professionally on cardboard with marker.) Any complaints about this being inappropriate (in a PET STORE>>>HELLO?) are met with indifference both by the store itself...(Actually with HOSTILITY by the store itself) and mall management. Mall Management indifference was unnerving and sad.

i purchased my baby victorian bulldog duke there a little over a year ago... i paid 1,200$ for him and immediately fell in love. He was the cutest puppy you would ever see.. i spoiled him and treated him like he was my child. i loved that dog more than anything. but when he was about six months old he turned aggressive it was to the point where we couldnt take him anywhere anymore he wouldnt let anyone besides me and my boyfriend approach him. he attacked numerous people. i poured thousands of dollars into him trying to fix his aggression problem but later found it couldnt be fixed i tried everything. he was the best dog ive ever had. very well trained and so loving to me and my boyfriend. i recently just had to put him down because his aggression and it was the hardest thing ive ever had to do in my life. when i called pick of the litter to tell them of my problems they said the only thing they could do was give me another puppy- right because i want to fall in love with another dog that probably would end up the same way? when i asked questions about dukes parents they were really stand offish and would not give me any information makes me think about where they really get their dogs.... so all and all i spent 1200 dollars on a dog that i got to keep for a year and now i have a lifetime to think about my baby that i will never get to see again. thanks a lot pick of the litter.
