Spent $28,000 for a new boat, and never been treated worse by a boat dealer.

Found the boat advertised on the internet - put a down payment on it and drove 4 hours to pick up the boat. Then it started. Despite a 1 week advanced notice of the time I was coming down, the boat was filthy - and I had to sit at the dealer for 3 hours while they cleaned it.

The boat didn't have the features that the ad claimed nor the features that the sales person claimed. After a lengthy conversation, I got a small discount for the missing features. They clearly let me know that I was a small time customer because they just sold a $1M boat - and had to deal with my concerns about not getting the features advertised.

When I got the boat home and off the trailer, found the brand new 2010 trailer was completely corroded underneath. Dealer wouldn't do anything about it - so I had to contact the manufacturer - who will replace it under warranty. The manufacturer told me they suspect the dealer used the trailer in the winter to haul boats, got salt on it, and never cleaned it properly.

They couldn't track down the manuals or warranties at the time of purchase. I was promised to get all of the missing parts (keys, poles, manuals), warranty and the title within 30 days. Had to file a complaint with the OH dept of motor vehicles to finally get my title 60 days later (by law it needs to be provided in 30 days). Still calling after 13 weeks to get the missing warranty and keys.

BTW, I took the boat to another dealer to do some warranty work - and they were timely and responsive. A shame I didn't buy my boat from that dealer.
