I finally tried it out. And it is nothing to write home about. My husband and I went to the Sunday brunch after church last Sunday. The concept was great, live 3 piece band when you arrive and everything. However we soon realized why we had no heard of anyone eating at this restaurant. After we were finally greeted by our waitress (at least 10 minutes after being seated) I could tell something was wrong. What do you want to drink is not a proper way to greet customers especially when they don't know what you have in the first place. But we let it slide and proceeded to the brunch buffet. We searched high and low for a CLEAN PLATE. There were plates on the buffet but obviously there is something wrong with the dishwasher because they were all dirty. We waited on the bus boy to bring new plates and they were wet and still kind of slimy. So I got a napkin and cleaned a plate for my husband and son. The food selection was very limited and they need a quick overview as to what is exactly on a brunch buffet. No salad or any healthy choices. Everything was fried. I decided on an omelet. I had 6 things to choice from for my omelet; pulled pork, beef brisket, green peppers, yellow onion, green onions, smoked mushrooms and cheese. This is a brunch and omelets are the highlight of a brunch. I recommend adding ham, fresh cut tomatoes, fresh cut mushrooms, maybe some spinach. I was told it order it from my waitress and she would bring it over, only to find out that she "doesn't do that" but after talking to her manager she would. What in the world. I could of waited but the omelet maker insisted we not wait and get it from out waitress. Big lack of communication. The beef brisket was dry (BBQ joint) and the waffles were terrible.
The concept is great but all and all I will not spend another $50bucks for 3 people to have a limited Sunday Brunch. I do not recommend Smackies.

Pros: If you miss Bob Evans go to Smackies it still looks like Bob is walking around

Cons: Great place to waste $50bucks

Me and my boyfriend decided to try this restaurant. It seemed like the food was good and we know the restaurant had been there for a while so we said "why not". When we got there it was only 6:30 pm and they were not supposed to close until 8. There were a few people eating but not very many. There was only one girl working and she seemed to be the hostest and the waitress. We waited a few minutes for her to notice us. When she finally did and we were seated, pretty much everyone else had cleared out of the restaurant. By the time we ordered there was no one left. We were about to order and our waitress kept commenting little inappropriate side annects about the restaurant. She even told us that there sauces were not very good and that they leave the sauces out all day. Now that is fine if that is your opinion but coming from an employee of the restaurant I thought that was really bad customer service. Obviously if the hired help can not say anything nice than what would a customer have to say?

That was not all. She continued to say inappropriate things to us. She said that they were trying to close early, but now they could not ( obviuosly because we were there). She also was cleaning up, trying to close early right in front of us. That was when my boyfriend asked for some hot sauce. She said she had already put it up! When our food came out, it was cold. It was evident they were treating us this way becasue they wanted to go home.

All together the entire experience was disasterous. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone and I suggest if they want their business to do any better, than they better hire better help. A little bit of customer service goes a very long way. There was nothing about this place that could ever make me go back!

Pros: Nothing....unless you like bad service and cold food!

Cons: Everything...service, food, environment, everything screams bad about this place

You would think that a local BBQ restaurant would be a good idea after a great church service, right? NOT AT SMACKIES! Unfortunately, I invited family from out of town to join me for "brunch" and all i got was: a disrespectful waitress who attempted to OVER-CHARGE all of the 6 people at my table. After identifying the obvious "service charge" that she factored into the balance & I brought it to her attention, she adjusted the charges off of the bill. After the waitress tried to steal our money I asked for a box because I wanted to leave right away. She quickly brought my girlfriend 2 boxes, but told the rest of the table that we cannot take our food with us. I got upset and asked to speak with the manager and to my surprise, she was the most unprofessional employee in the establishment. Telling me that I should, "Go to krogers and get some meat" , "Get to steppin' out of my restaurant" , "I will go and get my boyfriend and he's not going to like your attitude"

OVERALL MY EXPERIENCE AT SMACKIES WAS......PUT IT THIS WAY....I will bbq my own food and save myself the disrespect, money ($20.00/plate), and inconvenience of eating at a restaurant who tells you to "GET TO STEPPIN'" right after you pay.

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT TO ANYONE!!!!! - PLEASE DON'T DO IT TO YOURSELF.
