We visited Panda China Buffet on a recent trip to OC. In past years we would go this China Buffet (which had another name) each time we were at the beach. It always had fairly decent food for the price, plus they had crab legs and other seafood on the buffet.

So this time when we returned to OC, after 4-5 years, we made a trip to what is now Panda China Buffet. I called ahead for rates and was told it would be $12.95 per adults, 12 yrs. and under were $6.95, and 4 yrs. and under were free. There was also a coupon in one of the Sunny Days booklets for $1.00 each adult which I was told I could use.

Once we walked into the restaurant, on a Sunday afternoon, we noticed it was not very busy, still it took quite a while to get someone to seat us. While being seated the very Chinese speaking hostess said there would be a charge for my three yr. old of $4.95. I told her no, that I had called ahead and was told it would be free. She still insisted it would be $4.95. Again I told her that it should be free. Then I noticed a menu sitting in the middle of the table which stated the prices which were quoted on the telephone. I showed them to her and she said they were old prices. Then why were they still on the table? No matter I wasn't going to pay for the 3 yr. old.

Drink orders were taken and half of them were brought back. Then she acted as if she realized her mistake and brought the remainder of the drinks to the table. The food buffet was not as appealing as I remember. Although most of the trays were filled, the food looked as if it had been sitting for quite some time. I tried several different items on the buffet from the oysters, mussels, deviled crab, to the traditional Chinese dishes, to the desserts and ice cream. All of the food was rather tasteless. The seafood tasted very fishy, not appealing at all. The best thing I ate was the red Jello. Most of the plates of food my family had were left barely touched.

The biggest disappointment was the AYCE crab legs they have on the menu to lure customers in. The crab legs were empty when we first approached the buffet so as they expect you to do, we put other items on our plates. After trying everything we cared to try on the buffet we were still waiting for someone to fill the crab legs portion of the buffet. At least one member of our party was going back and forth, and watching the kitchen door, waiting for someone to fill the crab legs. I walked up to the buffet where a young man was waiting for quite some time with an empty plate waiting. I ask him if they said they would be filling it soon and he said they acted as if they didn't understand English and went on. A few moments later someone did bring out approximately six clusters of crab legs which were immediately taken by the waiting young man and two members of my party. That was the only time anyone attempted to fill the crab legs in the entire 45 - hr time we were in the restaurant. According to those in our party the crab legs were rather tasteless too.

Shortly after we decided it was time to leave and just cut our losses. The check was brought in. There was no charge for the three yr. old. Fortune cookies were handed out as usual. All of them were broken and quite stale. It was the final fitting ending to a very terrible and disappointing meal. I enjoy the taste of Fortune cookies and hoped the subtly sweet taste would take care of the bad taste I had in my mouth from the rest of the meal. This was not the case since they were so stale.

The bill was paid with no tip since no one ever came back to fill our drinks. I was happy to see that mints were available at the register to make the nasty taste in my mouth go away. I ate two of them. I was so disappointed to pay a $70 bill for such a BAD meal. Especially one that advertises the great low seafood buffet price to include crab legs which seems to be filled with a few clusters every hour.

Please don't be disappointed as we were. Don't waste your time and money. You would be better off to go into the Super Fresh next store and order steamed crab legs and take them back to your condo/hotel and eat them. Hope this helps. Wish I would have read the reviews before we visited Panda China Buffet this year. Biggest waste of money in OC!

I should have known this place was going to be horrible when I walked in and the AC was not working. It was very humid and the hostess didn't understand a darn thing I said. We sat down and had to tell her 6 SIX times our drink order! Looking at the food, it was not appealing at all. The honey chicken looked undercooked, the scraps they had for the chow mein was overcooked. Pans were not being refilled and if there was any thing in the pan..it was either overcooked or undercooked. I tried a sushi and the rice was hard! The selections were slim and very unappealing. I ordered sweet tea and after 30 minutes of walking through the selections..i finally sat down and took a sip of the nastiest iced tea I had ever tasted! It was old tea, as if it was sitting for a long period of time. I had a party of 6 and we all had plates of food we didn't want. I couldn't see spending $70 at this run down restarurant, so I told the idiot hostess my issues with the food and the unkept condition of the restaurant and she understood me perfectly. My family of 6 all left hungry and got better service and food from McDonalds. This was the first time that I was actually scared that I would scoop a roach or rodent on my plate. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE...THE SERVICE WAS HORRIBLE, THE BUILDING IS DIRTY AND I'M WILLING TO BET THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT HAS NOT BEEN THERE RECENTLY. MAYBE IT IS TIME!!!

Have you ever gone to a buffet and thought it looked really large, and then when you went to get your food realize the selection was actually rather limited? That was Panda China Buffet.

The buffet is located in a large strip mall, and the interior is your average Chinese buffet. It was large and clean. There were three long, double-sided servers, as well as a freezer with ice cream. I figured with that size there would be a lot of variety. Somehow there was not. Usually, if there are three servers and nothing else, the dessert and the salad selections take up about one server, meaning that you are left with two that are actually food. Of the remaining food, there was not too much. There were shrimp, which were good, and some meat dishes. The two good things were crab legs and raw oysters. The crab was very good; the oysters were OK, not great but acceptably fresh and good as buffet oysters go. There was sushi, but that was nothing special and I do not remember any of it. I don??t believe there was any actual raw fish. Other than these several items, I can barely remember what I ate, and this is probably the best indicator that the food and selection were only average.

The ice cream was pre-packaged in little cups, not as good as good soft-serve but ok. There was chocolate syrup which made it better, but I have seen better toppings offered for ice cream. On the other hand, I have seen no toppings offered.

Of what I did eat, was it good? Sure. Compared to the other Chinese buffets I??ve been to, this ranks slightly above average. But it??s just nothing special. Would I go again? If I happened to be in the area, sure. But I would not make any effort to go back. Good but forgettable Chinese buffet.

This is the low point during our vacation in OC. The selection was not great, but the worst thing is that the meat (including seafood) is just plain bad. I picked up a crab leg, cracked it open, it smelled rotten. My mother had a piece of BBQed pork, it smelled bad too. The only thing I felt safe to eat was the veggies.

We go to Panda Buffet at least twice when on vacation. The food is hot and tasty, there are a variety of foods, I prefer the seafood, We always were greeted politely and there is no lines waiting to get in. When your on vacation, you don't quibble about price. ENJOY. Will be there the first week in August.

I am amazed how people can complain about buffet. Especially this one. It's cheap, it does have wide selection, I am sure Allen person, who was complaining here before, did not leave buffet hungry. Food quality - you get what you pay for.

The food was crap. They had almost no beef or pork selection for my dad. The turnover-rate on the food was very low so many of the items were getting cold or dried out from the heat lamps. If you really, really need some Chinese food during your stay in Ocean City I would recommend just trying one of the places for take out. I have not tried any but saw a few on Philadelphia Ave.

In closing, Stay away from Panda China Buffet. Save your money and eat somewhere better.

Panda China Buffet has a great buffet at a reasonable price. Even if it was costly to eat here, I probably still would because there are basically no other chinese restaurants in Ocean City, MD. This restaurant is not located on the OC peninsula but it is about two minutes away from the bridge near the inlet. The food is very tasty and there are the typical items.
