Absolutely the worst. I have been there many times(at least a dozen) and have NEVER had such a horrible time as I did today. Why they would change(or start) enforcing a rule that has never been during Christmas break is beyond me! The Lapeer Rec Center has made it mandatory if you have a child under 9, the parent MUST be in the pool an arm's length from your child at all times. And we were constantly harassed to get in the pool. My friend had to pull up her pants and get in the water with no appropriate swim wear because she had to be within arm's length. We have been there for various events-scouts, birthday parties, as well as open swim, and that was never an issue until today! The Lapeer Rec Center had 5 lifeguards on and it wasn't even that busy. We were looking forward to letting our kids, who are great swimmers, have some fun while we watched them from the side. Instead, we had to get in all the while being supervised by the front desk manager who apparently doesn't have enough things to do in her job besides harass parents. I won't go back there!

The Lapeer Rec Center is a fun place for parties and family activities. There is a decent weight/gym set up, basketball court, private party rooms and best of all, a great pool. The pool gradually gets deeper so it is perfect for families with young children. There are 2 water slides, multiple sprinklers and a whirlpool. The family changing room is helpful for large families.
