The happy dog pictured is a regular at Dogtopia and loves it! How one crackpot review can lower the average score is absurd - Dogtopia deserves six or seven stars, maybe ten! Dogtopia is clean (just remodeled in and out), safe (staff are always with the dogs, and small dogs are in their own play area), and the dogs go in with enthusiasm and leave with some hesitation, owners (Mom or Dad) notwithstanding. Our dog gets a bath after play so she comes home clean, odor-free, and fluffy (for her, fluffy's a good trick) and pleasantly tired - she doesn't bother to chase her little brother (cat) and puts herself to bed early. Helen and staff are the most caring and lovely people on the planet, so that translates into the best doggy daycare and boarding we (and our dogs) have ever experienced as we've moved around the country. Please, all of the five stars should outweigh one negative screed (probably arrived angry, I'd bet). When people have to tell you how special they are - they aren't.

It is rare that I write an unpleasant comment on ANY business, and perhaps I just happened upon Dogtopia on a bad day (altho they knew I was coming in to check the place out)....but I am an animal lover, and have had my (rescue) pup in a few places for overnights when my husband and I travel for business. However, no one in my family, human or k9 will ever be going there again. I am not picky about locations, but the fact this place was a building that looked like a storage facility, right next to a car repair garage, by dumpsters and such, was enough to creep me out when I pulled in. Then, I walk in and I instantly smell dog urine. Come to find out....this place does not take the dogs outside. Thats right. Never. They just pee right on the floor until someone can clean it up. If that wasn't enough, as I began on a tour hosted by an employee (although I am writing a negative review...both women I met seemed genuinely sweet and patient, and my dog....who is scared of everyone due to her past absolutely loved both ladies) I was walked by an open room where a cute little Puggle was stuck in a very small cage on top of a table. The poor guy was trembling immensly while a fan blew directly onto his wet body. Horrified, I inquired as to WHY the dog, who was so obviously miserable, was being frozen to death....and the Dogtopia employee told me that he had just gotten done with a bath and this was how he "dried off". Good Lord, if thats how they dried him, I'd hate to see how they bathed the poor thing! PS, I was there for 15 minutes, unless I missed something....no one removed that poor dog from the fan induced "air drying". If this wasn't bad enough, the employee then told me that no one stays with the dogs at night. They just lock the (one) dead bolt and leave until the next morning. I'm not the best at math but this seems like a LONG time when they close so early on the weekends. I just relocated to Delaware, but in the state I am from, someone is REQUIRED to stay with the dogs at night in case of emergencies. Anyway, sorry this is so long, but I wouldn't suggest taking your dog here. Again, maybe I just got there on a bad day.... The employees were sweet and gracious and attentive, and genuinely seemed to love animals! That is the ONLY reason this place get one star! Needless to say, I was so uncomfortable with the whole situation, my little dog did not, and WILL NOT ever stay at Dogtopia.

I have been taking my dog there since they first opened and find the staff to be so caring and happy to see every dog that comes through the door. The price is reasonable for the hours that a dog can be there and they are certaily understanding if you can only bring your dog in on occaision and not every day.

I was not comfortable leaving my dog at this facility. It seemed unclean, and the people were young, a bit rude, and did not seem competent. I will be looking elsewhere.

I recently had to leave town and needed someone to look after my dog for a few days. After some research I found Dogtopia run by Helen and Don. They offer a doggie spa and a relaxing stay for your pet!
