SeaStar Adventures, Inc

We were recommended to Sea Star through our instructor in Phoenix. We considered diving elsewhere, but decided Sunny San Diego was the place to be. We called SeaStar they answered all our questions and even calmed a few concerns about sharks (neither of us has dived in the ocean before). They got our sizing info over the phone and were all ready with the gear on the morning of our dive. Our Divemaster was Wes and he was really patient as we steadily got into our gear. Their rental gear was great, I think I know what I want to buy when I make that big purchase commitment. It was a bit of a kick out on the surface, but when we got there it was all worth it. We saw Giant Black Sea Bass and Sea Lions and lots of Garibaldi (sp?). Wes pointed out some REALLY big lobsters and a huge sea slug. But what made the trip was how close we got to the Sea Bass! They are huge and one kept coming back to us, almost like it was following us! This was a whole lot better than lake diving in AZ. Will always recommend Wes and Sea Star Adventures to our dive buddies.

Did two dives with Sea Star Adventures, it was a great experience. I was at ease with both guides from the get go. They were consummate pros, accomodating and extremely knowledgable about the local marine life. It is rare that one finds a dive operation that makes for such a relaxing dive. I recommend them for your San Diego dives!

Wanted to mention how much we really enjoyed the snorkeling tour at La Jolla Cove. Kim and our other guide really helped us to be at ease in the water. My daughter had never snorkeled before and this was a great learning experience for her. We all had a great time. Next time well be trying scuba!

My 12 year-old son became certified in November through a private course with Wes. Wes made sure our son knew what he needed to know at each step, before moving on to the next. He is also great with kids; he is very patient and has a good sense of humor. I would highly recommend Wes for scuba instruction -- definitely a 10!

Great experience! Wes has a very patient approach, offers expert dive training and knowledge of the area. We've never tried scuba before and the beginner program they offered was just like a class. I feel confident that diving with SeaStar will always be safe and fun - Looking forward to getting certified! Great Instructor!

I live in San Diego, but had never actually gone snorkeling in the Cove. A friend at work recommended Sea Star from a scuba class they had taken and suggested it would be a good idea to take my kids out with someone that knew the water. Was glad we did it. Not only did we see a lot of fish, our guide talked about all the other creatures that are part of the ocean as well. It was really educational for the girls. Lots of fun, a bit educational and a lot of kewl stuff. Great guide, polite staff and a lot of fun!

We spent a great day in the water! Sunny morning spent snorkeling along the coast of La Jolla. This had to be one of the most amazing snorkeling places I have ever been. Lots of fish, birds, a bat ray, and even lots of lobster. The baby Seals were REALLY cute. Our guides were a lot of fun, very patient and professional. They are the best guides. Great Place, Great Company, Amazing Day.

This was my first time diving in San Diego. I found Sea Star on the web and from my first phone call, I knew it would be a great time. I did a Night dive into La Jolla Canyon and the service was fantastic. The beach was easy to get to and parking was wide open. Earl had all the equipement put together and was ready to go as soon as I got there. He was very thorough in his briefing about the area, including the little things such as how best to get past the surf, and how to shuffle as you enter to avoid any stingrays. He was an expert divemaster and really helped me feel safe through the dive in the canyon. I enjoyed it so much we talked about diving at La Jolla Cove the next day and we met there the next morning. This site is amazing! So many fish, rays and we even had a seal join us during the dive. Will be back to dive with these guys again!

We had never gone snorkeling before and decided to call a couple places that were recommended by our hotel. One place never called back, but Sea Star answered right away. They were terrific. Over the phone and at the beach, everything we needed was taken care of. The water was a bit cool at first, but we warmed up in the wetsuits just fine. After the tour they brought out a box lunch that was really cool and spent time talking with the kids and answering all their questions! A great time! Youve gotta try it!

My husband and I were recently certified scuba divers, but wanted more experience in the water before diving alone so we called on SeaStar. Wes was very helpful and reviewed a lot of the basics. Since the tour guide for the snorkel dive was late and he wanted to explain things to that group, we waited after getting suited up and went for a short snorkel on our own. It made for a longer day then we anticipated, but it was a nice day at the beach and we weren't in a hurry, we saw more then we expected. We did all of our certification dives from a boat and didn't realize how much more physical a beach dive could be, and with the steep stairs to get to the beach itself it was very different, but Wes was very patient and helpful. The long swim out was tiring, but again he was very patient.

I've dived and snorkeled all over the world and La Jolla is a unique and beautiful place. We had a great dive guide: professional, personable, detail oriented and dedicated to safety. He was exceptionally familiar with the area and went the extra mile to make sure you have the best possible experience. I will recommend SeaStar to everyone.

This was my first time snorkeling and I was quite disappointed.
The guide showed up about 40 minutes late and I never received
a phone call from anyone. I tried calling the main line and no one
ever answered. When she did show up it took us forever to get out
into the water. And to top it off my wet suit was a couple sizes too
small so it was very hard to breath while out in the water.
The waters were very nice but it was a bad first experience.
I hope they realize this for the future adventures.

Wanted to let you know what an amazing job Earl did on our snorkel tour. He was so instructive and patient with my 12 year old nephew. He took amazing care with us and my nephew didn't stop talking about it till he fell asleep last night. Thank you for making a lasting memory for me and my nephew. He can't wait to try scuba next!

I took my nephews out to San Diego and we decided to book with Seastar for a snorkel tour. It was a awesome afternoon, we saw a lot of different fish and some leopard sharks. Wes was very friendly, professional and knowledgeable about the area and sealife. We all had a great time, and would not hesitate to book more tours with Wes at Seastar Adventures. You guys are great with high school kids! The snorkeling experience with a 30+ group of teenagers with little to no swimming experience can happen as it did with our group last Wednesday. We appreciate the experience very much! It definitely left a lasting memory for our students and they are already wanting to recreate it!

"Thanks for the great dives at La Jolla Cove and La Jolla Shores. Wes was really knowledgeable, not just about diving, but about the area and all the different marine life we saw. I enjoyed seeing all the marine life but especially the octopus because I had never seen one before. He was also very helpful and patient, which I appreciated since I'm a just a beginner, and he made me feel very comfortable and at ease. I would definitely recommend Sea Star Adventures! !! "
