Have never had occasion to visit the farm so I will not comment on that but I must say that the grains they mill are outstanding. Their whole wheat has changed my entire approach to baking, prompting me to add whole wheat flour to recipes that I have always regarded as fundamentally "white". I have also been impressed with their corn meal, spelt, and gluten free pancake mix. We have never joined a CSA but are giving serious consideration to this one.

I am the owner and operator of the farm. I am happy some of our members wrote in to address the negative rating.
To correct something that was written I must say in our defense, we did not deny them a refund, just that we could not refund their share at the beginning of the season. Our shareholders money is spent on supplies plants and labor to grow vegetables for the shareholders. Once that money is spent we must earn money by selling vegetables at the markets. The entire purpose of selling shares to members is to raise early season working capital, which is why it is called community supported agriculture. We would have gladly refunded her share to them if they would have waited until later in the season.
Our last understanding with them was that we were to bring their veggies to the entrance of the driveway 300 ft away so that their newly licensed 16 year old daughter would not have to drive up. Unlike what was stated in the letter ,there is plenty of room to turn around at the house as there is a circle drive.
We picked for them every week and did not understand they were no longer coming. We were prepared to follow up on what we promised them.
We have decided for other reasons to discontinue distributions at the farm. We will distribute at local farmers market and thereby give our members more choice in the boxes. We encourage you to support and enjoy fresh local certified organic produce at below retail prices by purchasing a share in a csa. Oh yes, please watch Food ,INC... a good documentary available for rental or on you tube.for free.
Peace to you all,
Lyle

We joined last year and loved the produce. The produce is brought in right off the fields just before when we arrived. We are not sure what the complaint was about as the driveway did not seem to present a problem for us. The others who came on pickup days seemed quite pleased with the food as well. We are looking forward to another great year with them.

Other review is inaccurate. access to Farm is fine. Lyle is always reasonable with problems, which are rare. Farm vehicle noticed by earlier reviewer is a rare occurrence. Don't worry about Gee Creek.

This crop sharing farmer has an extremely long, blind driveway that curves up a hill. Twice we had to back down it in an attempt to pick up our farm share, due to oncoming traffic with nowhere to pull off to the side. The first vehicle we were almost hit by was a woman BACKING DOWN the driveway in a large pickup truck. There is very little room to turn around once you get there, I think she was backing down because she had no room to turn around at the top of the hill.

All the vehicles cram into that dangerous road in a short period of time, as the hours you are allowed to pick up your farm shares are so short. Frankly, I am surprised that Rolling Hills Estates homeowner's association would allow such dangerous vehicular activity to occur.

When I saw the driveway situation, I asked for my money back. I was refused. It makes me angry, $500 for a seasons "share" that will go wasted. It would be a fool's errand to attempt to pick it up though. Any money I would "save" by using my crop share would go back out to injuries and/or collision repair in attempts to pick it up!

Definitely NOT recommended! Drive up their driveway before purchasing their farm share! Look at the number of farm vehicles they have parked there, blocking access! And remember, they won't refund your money.
