What a surprise....
by exmontana
I went to this place on the recommendations offered here, and I was not disappointed. This is a waaay above average KorBBQ!....Friendly, clean, quality, good parking, and quality meats. I'm not Korean, but have learned a lot by going to many places in K-town. The waitresses here, speak little English, but little is needed. The owner is attentive enough to come to your rescue. I like to bbq my own meats and this is often a prob in most places, but the owner smiled and made sure all ok....great sides, though service can be off and on...sides are mostly chili'[d, kim chee is unique, bean paste soup great...I recommend this place....much better than Woo Lae Oak, or Soot Bul Jeep....try it...

Diamond Meat?
by KtownloveLA
OMG
The "Diamond Meat" (prime rib eye) was the best quality beef I've seen in the Koreatown BBQ scene..period.
I'm a die hard Park's supporter when it comes to some good Kbbqing, but I have to say Chungdamn has them in check when it comes down to the quality of the meat....Park's Kobe beef is some good stuff, but the marbling on the rib eye at Chungdam had me from the start...
A bit on the pricier side, but I'm willing to spend more from time to time for some premium sutff.
ALOT of KBBQs, specially the AYCE joints, serve salads as their choice vegetable spread, but fresh lettuce and sesame leaves is the way its done in Korea, Chungdam is one of the few place in LA that stay true to this.
Of course they cant mess with the Park's banchan, but the wrap selection also mentioned by Darrel L. put them on the 5 star level on par with Park's in my book.
Great patio seating, friendly service, premium quality meat...I dare give this place a 5 star and rank it near the top KBBQ in line with Park's and Dae sung oak on my list.
Pros: quality meat, wrap selection
Cons: higherend bbq

Great place, a must-go-to, best Korean Barbeque ever!
by lili696
First of all, it's located in a great place, in a mini-mall sort of place, so you can go do a bit of shopping. They also have a parking building, and it's no hassle trying to find parking! The service there is great, they help you cook the meat, and if you need something, there's a button on the table so that a server will be at your table right away! The meat there is so fresh and delicious, and there's a wide variety of meats, from beef and pork, to other meats as well. And they have vegetarian-friendly dishes there, so anyone can eat there! The side dishes there are very delicious, I myself love the sweetened potatoes, those are very good! It's a nice atmosphere, it's very clean. After the meal, there is a frozen yogurt place next to Chung Dam, you can have some dessert after your meal. It's my favorite restaurant, and if you go there, you'll know why!
Pros: Delicious food, clean enviroment
Cons: NONE!

Best korean bbq and MORE
by rubbersoul7
With it's central location and ample parking, Chungdam Garden is an ideal place to eat. Not only for convenience, but of course for the food! Unlike most all-you-can-eat type places which can be sketchy at the very least, you know what you are getting here. The quality of meat and the craftsmanship of the cuts are quite visible before the meat is cooked.
Chungdam Garden is not only for meat lovers. There are plenty of other dishes, even vegetarian, where the craftsmanship and taste follow through. Being a avid pescetarian myself, I ordered a fish dish, (eun deh goo joh rim) that was absolutely delicious, the fish just melts in your mouth.
My friends and I are not huge fans of the "going out to dinner to cook it yourself" restaurants as a rule, and we were pleasantly surprised that waiters actually were tending to the cooking and heat levels as often as they did.

Vegetarians Welcome!
by Neon44
As a vegetarian of 15+ years, I have never ventured into a Korean BBQ for fear that I would go home hungry... That definitely wasn't the case at Chung Dam! I was so engrossed in chowing down on my Bi Bim Bap that I barely noticed all the meat cooking right in front of me. The table was constantly overflowing with Ban Chan (side dishes), and the entire meal - from beginning to end - was a celebration of flavors! Easily one of the best meals I've had, and I will definitely be going back for more!
Pros: Vegetarian friendly, great atmosphere, excellent service
Cons: None!
