The wait-staff are expedient and attentive. The manager is very friendly and truly wants his customers to have an enjoyable experience at his restaurant.\r
Their internet page showed a dinner for 2 at $19.95, but this wasn't in the menu.

Lunch soup and salad is okay, They don't seem to keep up on it enough. Something is always empty. Food is good though.

I am not a person of color. I am a Caucasian that graduated from St. Cloud State University. Upon entering this place my friend (wearing baggy clothing) and I were able to enter the bar. Behind us was a man, wearing no baggier clothing

Went to Oak City Bloomington for the first time to celebrate a friends birthday. I was amazed at how busy this place is, DJ was playing awesome music, their patio was amazing, the manager heard we were celebrating and came out with a bottle of champagne for us, free! This is our new favorite place thats for sure.
Oh try their tenderloin bites, to die for!

Pros: Great Specials, Great Music, Great Crowd

I was out celebrating my friends birthday Saturday night. Our last stop before heading back to the hotel was a place called Oak City(not my choice) located in Bloomington. Before even getting through the door I was told by the bouncer that I wasn't allowed in because I have "visible tattoos". I thought he was joking with me, but he wasn't. I was told the only way I was allowed in was if I put on a long sleeve shirt. To which I responded "if I put on a long sleeve shirt I would still have visible tattoos!" A friend of mine pointed out a girl on the patio smoking with visible tattoos on her arm, but the bouncer didn't care, he stuck to his stance of no visible tattoos. I was quite offended by the whole thing because my tattoos are professionally done at Uptown Tattoo and they are not offensive, racist, gang related, or anything of that nature. Last I checked they don't even have a dress code!

Glad they are so professional and mature about everything!

Cons: they have no taste for professionally done tattoo sleeves

A lovely waitress served us 2-for-1's for about an hour and we were enjoying our time, however there were multiple shady men circling the bar that did not allow for complete relaxation.

A female friend was confronted and cornered by an exceptionally shady gentleman. He was then escorted to the door since he was obviously heavily intoxicated. The bouncer at the door then gave him one more chance which he used to continue to harass customers. Multiple employees did not agree with our six person table that this one man was not safe, and should be escorted out. In fact, our entire table was then asked to leave!

We decided to leave the uncomfortable, and likely unsafe atmosphere. While entering our taxi we watched as the bouncer WALKED THE EXTREMELY INTOXICATED MAN TO HIS CAR AND WATCHED HIM DRIVE AWAY.

As the man drove away we asked the bouncer if the police would be informed of the drunk driver, or if he would call in the license plates and car model. The bouncer's then began to harass us, and let us know of his bar fight skills. He actually stood outside the door and yelled toward our taxi to try and aggravate us to fight. There was a curly haired manager who did try and keep the peace, however the bouncer was very unprofessional.

Needless to say, we will not return to this establishment.
Ever.

The food and drink at Oak City was wonderful and we were able to get seated in the dining room in shorter amount of time than expected for a Saturday night. However, our experience was completely ruined when we witnessed one of the managers cussing and swear at one of his employees. To witness such an event was uncomfortable for my husband and me. I think this type of behavior is totally unacceptable and I can??t even begin to imagine how staff is treated behind the scenes if they are treated this way in front of customers. We will never return to Oak City again.

Oak City has a very dark but cozy appeal to their restaurant! Their staff is great from the bartenders to the servers to the management. I go there about once a week and have brought many family and friends there because I am so happy with this restaurant. I have never had a bad meal there! I highly recommend their beef tips and buffalo shrimp. Very nice happy hour! Good date spot with dueling pianos and live music on the weekends!

The menu is very fairly priced and worth it with the taste of the food and the service!

Go to Oak City!

My husband and I decided to try out this new place on Thursday night for dinner and check out their live music. He had the Ribeye and I had Cajun Chicken Alfredo. They were both fantastic. Server highly recommended their homemade Banana Cream Pie for dessert that she claimed is made from scratch and isnt assembled until the kitchen gets an order for it. I love Banana Cream pie and this was the best i have ever had hands down. As far as the music goes we were both blown away at how great this place was for live music. Performing that night was GB Leighton with his full band but it was done acoustically so you could still hang out and enjoy the music but still have a conversation. That was very, very cool. Service was great and the atmosphere was a 10. Best date i can remember having in a long time.
I highly recommend this place and we will definately be back.

GET THE STOLI DOLI! It is a pineapple-type martini. I normally am not interested in fruity drinks but the claim of "no bite-just a smooth pineapple taste" drew me in. Boy were they right! It was smooth and refreshing, but not tart, like some pineapple drinks can be.
My boyfriend and I decided to stop by here late last Saturday night to grab a drink before heading home. The atmosphere is great and would suit anyone from mid twenties who enjoy a classy atmosphere thats fun, but not dumb frat boy fun; to someone in their mid fifties looking for a good band that doesn't play so loud you can't think. We heard the SOB's (singers on barstools) and they played great music that was easily enjoyed by everyone there. And they took requests! Crazy, huh?
I am so glad that there is a place to go near eden prairie where its free to get in, not so packed you can't breathe, and isn't the aweful redstone scene of middle-aged nasty men oogling over the newly divorced women wearing half as much clothing as they should be for their age.
I am going back this weekend for the dueling pianos (every friday night) with some friends and family. Maybe we'll try the nachos everyone seems to love! The quotes everywhere make a good conversation piece and the comfortable booths and low, chushey gold chairs gives a feeling of wanting to stay all night. I strongly recommend this place for a fun date night or a good time out with friends.

The Sunday Brunch concept needs to be explained to the whole staff. And, they ask you if you would like a carmel roll that comes included in the buffet price, but it is "one roll per two people" . Huh? What happens if there are 3 people at our table? What if I don't want to share germs with the others at my table? Food on the buffet is always cold and unstocked. There is a Granite City down the street that offers better at the same price. Management needs to take a more serious look at that and address these issues. On the upside, this place has the greatest Nachos!!!!

Tonight was our first visit to Oak City .... we will not be returning. One of the two entrees ordered were not available ( they had just run out). The martini we ordered arrived well after the food, our server was nowhere to be found after our entree arrived and we were lacking condiments. After paying the tab, I realized our server had shorted us $10.00, I tried in vain to wait for our server to return, but eventually brought it to the attention of the manager. He in turn, sent the server back to our table where she explained that "the bartender had her count the money out".....?????? Food was okay, but the service was horrific.

Great nachos! The chicken ones are my favorite and they come smoothered in cheese. The atomsphere is good for an intimate dinner date or for a happy hour. The dueling pianos are entertaining, even my in-laws enjoyed them.
Every time we have gone to Oak City we have had great service. And the happy hour is one of the better ones in Bloomington.

This is a great spot for an upscale business lunch. The atmosphere is wonderful. Great location. The salads make for a perfect light lunch.

They also have a great stage - live music on Fridays and Saturdays. We went to the duelling pianos -- very entertaining. GB Leighton is coming soon - with no cover -- I am very excited!

The patio looks like fun on a warm summer weekend. It was full when we got there - we hope to try it next time!!
