Other than the fact that the food here is ridiculously tasty (i am truly obsessed with the sweet potato fries), their choice of craft beers is so large and diverse, I swear even a non-beer drinker could find a beer they liked. The staff is really friendly and for all you Entourage fans, one of the bartenders is a true look-a-like...

The beer selection was awesome and to get those same beers for $3 during Happy Hour was even more unbelievable. I was there towards the end of Happy Hour and couldn't believe how cheap this top notch beer was. They had a deal on sliders to $2 a piece!! I think the Happy Hour starts at 4 and goes to 7 I will definitely get there earlier next time. You have to checkout this East Village Beer Bar!!!!

this place is a beer drinkers, heaven. they have numerous assorted beers from around the world. YOU CAN TRY ALL THE BEERS BY USING THIER 4 OZ. FLUTE SYSTEM. BUT IF YOUR ARE GOING TO "DRINK THE BOARD", MAKE SURE YOU ARE TAKING A CAB BECAUSE SOME OF THESE BEERS HAVE OVER 10% ALCOHOL. THE HEAD HONCHO ANDREW AND HIS STAFF MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE YOU ARE AT HOME , THE MINUTE YOU ENTER THE PLACE. ALSO COME HUNGRY, THEY HAVE A GREAT MENU WHICH INCLUDES SOME OF THE HOTTEST WINGS IVE EVER TRIED AND HANDS DOWN THE BEST MAC AND CHEESE. THIS PLACE IS A MUST SEE FOR EVERYONE. I PROMISE YOU A FUN EXPERIENCE.

West Coast Diva in da house with my girlfriend from Sunny So Cal. We felt the need to visit NYC on the coldest weekend of the year to hang with my local friends. We met the crew of about 15 at the East Village Tavern. Sal the bartender was so friendly and mixes a damn good drink. The atmosphere was warm and friendly, we felt right at home. We ordered a good sampling off the menu. The bar grub is unique and tasty and the Mac & Cheese is to die for! Please Fed Ex West! EVT will be a regular stop for me everytime I visit NYC and a must stop if you are touring the East Village. Thanks Sal, DJ M and Rob!

Pros: Mac & Cheese YUMMY!

.

Stopped by the East Village Tavern last week to support the economy....sampled MANY American craft beers. I liked the "flights" offered where you can try 4 or 5 different beers for a reduced price. Bartender was quite knowledgeable and helped me along my patriotic journey. Stayed for some food and the sweet potato fries are amazing. We also the chicken sandwich and cheese steak, which was also quite good. Nice atmosphere and a decent crowd, but still easy to get a drink.

I'll be back!

Anyone who loves trying new and different microbrews and some fine food, both apps and dinners, will love the East Village Tavern. I started with a flight of 4 different beers which gave me a nice sampling of the dark beers on tap, found the one Iike best "Arcadia London Porter" it was excellent! I ordered some apps from the menu, try the quesadilla, while sipping my porter at the bar and enjoyed a nice relaxed atmospere. I found a great new bar with a revolving microbrew menu and an good place to grab a bite while enjoying some of the best microbrews in the downtown area.

Great place to go for a satisfying experience. The rotating selection of american beer is exceptional. Good break from the ordinary as far as enjoying a quality beer. The menu stands on its own, delicious food that compliments the beers well, a good step above "ordinary" pub food. The staff is timely & well informed on the brews available, which helps if you're undicided or unfamiliar. The atmosphere is great as well, with the front doors open on warm summer nights you get a feel of the neighborhood around you. All in all, a great new bar with great people, great food, and most of all, great beer! Highly recommend it to anyone.

I would fancy myself somewhat of a beer geek and the EVT does an amazing job of choosing great craft beers and keeping them fresh and rotating on draft. I spoke with the owner who said that they regularly clean their lines . Nothing is worse than going to a bar, seeing a great beer on tap, and getting a funky pour because the lines are dirty. From the several times I have gone to the EVT, I can say the pints are always fresh and delicious. I also like how they list the ABV (alcohol %) on their chalk board so you know when you are ordering a beer that is practically as strong as a wine.

Their food is also out of this world in taste and price. The menu far surpasses your typical bar food menu of chicken fingers, burgers and fries. The thing I like the MOST about this bar is that they serve exclusively AMERICAN beer, no imports.

I just recently booked a party there and really enjoyed myself. The place was very accommodating and I highly recommend booking a party there. The beer selection I thought was great and I am a rookie to this new craft beer craze. The different types of beer suits everyone. If don't want a beer the bar is fully stocked. Check the place out. The neighborhood is really starting to take off.

I rarely hang out in the ever-gentrifying Alphabet City anymore, but this is a really fun hangout, comfy and unpretentious. They have a great happy hour, where the well drinks are not juts mixer! I know little about beer, but I know the few I really like and the waitress was great at recommending beers from their list that I would like based on my tastes. I?m very picky when it comes to food, and just because it is bar food, it is no excuse to be ?just? greasy, and the Tavern does not disappoint. The sweet potato fries were delicious (Southern food is my fave), and surprisingly and happily married to a BBQ-type dip. And the cheese steak may not be Philly but it?s great, and very reasonable prices. A simple and welcoming decor, relaxed atmosphere, perfect to forget the worries of the workday. The place is big enough that even when busy it doesn?t feel uncomfortably crowded or noisy. Expect a very mixed clientele where everyone is welcome and comfortable ? NYU students, artists, attractive young professionals fleeing the stilted yuppie scene, young and old, casual and well-put-together, everybody bonds here. I am definitely going back, again and again and again - and I?m going to start lobbying for a dessert menu ? I want a key lime pie to follow those fries!

PAJAMA BRUNCH!!! What else is better than sitting around in your pajamas all day...Rolling out of bed and going to brunch in your pajamas, hanging out with everyone else in the neighborhood in their pajamas. Had the fried croissant stuffed with goat cheese while sucking down a double espresso white russian. Once brunch was over Sunday Funday was in full swing, $4 drink specials all day long. Great idea East Village Tavern. Wait until you see next weeks pajamas.

I am a serious beer drinker and routinely visit the city's most popular places. Had heard about this place from friends and had checked their website and got much more than I expected from a place this new. The owners have clearly done their homework regarding the beer (a nice mix of American craft brews, something for every palate), the food and the atmosphere. Go for happy hour when all tap beers are $3!!! (so much better than the $1 off most other places offer), order some sweet potato fries (crunchy and served with amazing boubon maple bbq sauce or a creamy horseradish sauce), or housemade soft pretzels with killer homemade mustard, and then stay for dinner. The shortrib sandwich is incredible. Everything is fresh, inventive, and totally satisfying. There was a good crowd for a Tuesday night, nice energy. This place is going to catch on...

went to the East Village Tavern last week and I was pleasantly surprised. I was never really a micro-brew guy, but I'll have to say a tried a few and I am a convert. Talking with the bartender I made my way through some of his suggestions. I really enjoyed the Hennepin. The bar had a nice vibe with the front doors open to the night air. Cool jukebox! Didn't eat anything, but the guy next to me ordered the sliders and seemed pleased. I will definitely be back to try a new craft beer (as I learned from the bartender).

I don't usually do this but.. I went to the East Village Tavern on a Friday night recently by accident and it wound up being one of the best nights! The place was packed! Regardless of the amount of people the service was amazing! Normally you would expect to wait forever at the bar while the bartender ignores you. It was the complete opposite here! I haven't been down in that area in a few years. However, after experiencing the new vibe I would absolutely go back!!!

Went to The East Village Tavern with 8 friends celebrating my friends PHD. What a blast. The beer selection was insane. We all played the pass around game, where you get to taste everyone's beer selection. I'm good, but there were some I had never had. This is a beer lovers paradise. Drinking great IPA's (Dogfish head 90 Minute imperial for me), great friends, Great jukebox (a little too loud for my taste) and a wide open view of one on NYC coolest neighborhoods (all the front walls open onto the street).
We only had finger food, but it was excellent (sweet potato fries with dipping sauces and the best NY pretzel I have ever had). I will be back and would recomend this fantastic gem in the lower east side! Cheers!

This is among the best bars for beer that I've ever visited. With 16 beers on tap that rotate as the kegs empty (except the Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA), There is going to be something for every taste. At very reasonable prices ($6-7 for draft beers), the selection is fantastic. If they have it, try the Old Rasputin Imperial Stout. You're in for a treat.

I DRINK BEER. and I like to drink many different kinds of beer. And I like to drink many different kinds of beer with different kinds of food. And I like to drink many different kinds of beer with different kinds of food with many cool people in a cool bar that has a view into the kaleidoscope that is New York. Well I now do that at the east village tavern. Old New York, brick-faced interior serves as a wonderful palette for the beers as diverse as the many ladies (and dudes) that are sitting throughout the establishment. I drink more beers, I talk to more people, I have more food, I HAVE LIFE.

I went to the east village tavern this past Thursday and had an awesome time. Jukebox is in full effect. They have that Internet Jukebox which allows you to download just about anything. They also have the newest Buckhunter. Great beer selection. I was drinking Greenflash IPA which is a rare find in this city. I didn't get anything to eat, but it looked delicious. The bartender told me they do happy hour mon-friday from 4-7 with all drafts for $3. Thats an unbelievable deal considering what they have on tap. I am going back with some friends for their pajama brunch on Sunday which should be a blast. This is definitely going to be my new neighborhood hangout.

Very cool vibe...with the doors all opened onto the street, EVT has a neighborhood, relaxed vibe. The staff was friendly and provided great service-there are a lot of different microbrews on tap, and they gave great recommendations. The tavern has a relaxed atmosphere, (not overcrowded like most pubs) and is the perfect place to hang out with friends for the evening or just to grab a drink . Didn't get a chance to sample the menu, but I heard from a few people that the food is excellent!!!! Would definitely recommend EVT as a fun, upbeat, friendly place to check out!!!!

Stopped into the East Side Tavern last week after walking by artwork on the side. Nice place. Doors open nicely to the street to take advantage of good weather. Huge selection of beers and I found myself trying a few. Found Hennepin to be my favorite. Relaxed atmosphere and interesting menu...not your normal pub grub. Sliders were really good. I will be back!

There aren't enough beer bars in this city. But now that I found the EAst Village Tavern, I couldn't care less. This place is awesome. Only missing a jukebox, I could agree with, but owner told me it was coming soon! Ahhhh, the best damn beer bar. Period.

Nice addition to the Ave C vibe that keeps on getting better since I moved here. This joint has got 16 American draft lines and it 's all good. Some I have never seen in the area. It was just nice to go in to a new bar and not see those standard swill beers that most bars have. The bartender told me the owner will not put a beer on tap unless it was brewed in the USA .Gotta love that ! Girl behind the stick knew her beer and was cool to hang with. Great menu with stuff you will not see around here.Reasonable with most dishes at $10.00. Had some short rib sandwich that was sweet ! The only thing I can find wrong is that they need a jukebox. Gotta have a jukebox.
Cool joint I will be back.

Pros: Great Craft Beer, Not your average menu,

Cons: No jukebox
