TLC is a great preschool! We researched a lot of schools for our daughter before deciding on TLC. Our daughter has been attending TLC for two years now and she loves it. The teachers are wonderful and caring, and you can tell that they def love their job and every student!

My oldest grandson attended The Learning Cottage last year two days a week. He is a very shy little boy and they were very involved and interested in drawing him out and getting him to feel comfortable. Midway through the fall he was standing up in front of the class to speak! I watch all three of my grandsons twice a week and he would frequently tell me about his experiences in school and he spoke of all three of his teacher's by name and in a very positive light. I was so excited to be included by TLC in many of their events. I got to spend some time in the school itself for an open house when visiting with my daughter in trying to choose a school (which was a very daunting task!) and it was by far my favorite. I was very impressed by the combination of play and learning that was going on in all aspects of the school. Many of the others schools in the area we visited were either too much school oriented having them at desks, or they were more of a daycare.
Although it was not ideal for our scheduling of my watching the boys, I told my daughter I would make it work because I felt that the boys would do better at TLC than at any of the other schools we looked at. I love the art show and the Halloween parade they put on, and boy do the kids really get into it! My daughter feels so comfortable having now her two boys there that it is such a relief to know they are in such good hands. I look forward to going there this year to see both of my grandsons who are currently enrolled. I highly recommend TLC to anyone interested in a great pre-school experience.

My grandson started at The Learning Cottage last year and is there again this year along with his younger brother. I have attended several events at the building and met the teachers. The space itself is filled with natural light from all sides and the furniture is scaled for the children that attend which explains why they are so comfortable there. The teachers are friendly and wonderful as my grandson frequently talks about them in his conversations with me about what kind of a week he had had in school. I was particularly impressed with the extended family inclusive events that they have. A Halloween parade and party whose theme was books and to come dressed as your favorite character from that book - a really wonderful idea, They also had an art show that showcased the students' work in a really remarkable range of media and there was an artists receptionas well. I was so pleased that this was in the evening so that as many family members as possible could attend - it was an outstanding evening and I look forward to the next art show. I am am very pleased and impressed by the level of acedemic attention that my grandsons have received at The Learning Cottage.

I spent a long time researching the many of preschools in the Howard County area. I know that this can be an exhuasting process and the Director and teachers and TLC understand this too. They understand what parents are looking for in a school as well as a caregiver. Let's face it, we want our kids to learn but we also want them to feel safe. I have never even thought twice about sending both of my boys to TLC. Last year I had my oldest for 2 days and this year he is back 4 days/wek and my second is there 2 days. The teachers are all hands on and actually enjoy the kids, it's not just a job. They have fantastic field trips and school activities that the parents/families are always invited to and the kids get such a kick out of performing for their parents. They have a curriculum that they follow so they do learn their letters, numbers etc so they are prepared for kindergarden, but they are also flexible and can change the lesson plan based on something that may happen that day (for example we found a turtle last year and brought it in. They totally planned their day around learning about turtles, printed out a turtle poem for the kids and even did turtle art projects, all on the spot!!). My boys are constantly talking about school and their teachers and friends even when they aren't in school. There is also a great parent group. Many of the parents have playdates with other siblings and get together socially outside of school. I would highly recommend TLC to anyone who asked!!

TLC is the best pre-school ever. The teachers are phenomenal, my son loved it there. There are no hidden fees and you don't even have snack duty, it is great! Can't say enough wonderful things about the school and staff.
