While Gilroy Gardens (formerly Bonfante Gardens) is great for young children, it is not so great for teens or adults. That being said we went with a 4 year old and their family and rode the rides and actually enjoyed the day for the most part. but here are the real reasons this is getting a mediocre review. After hearing about the food being so much better than other theme parks, we were shocked at the quality of basic theme park food like burgers and fries. Horrible food, completely inedible. Worse than any Six Flags park (and trust me, they have death camp cuisine at those parks). The other big black mark on this park is operations. While not being an expert in park operations. I am an expert at looking at how lines are handled. We are talking only two lines to let cars into the park. That took almost 45 minutes. Rides where cars are dispatched only 3/4 full at best, or the train where they do not make anyone get off at a station, so when 3 get off, 3 get on and you wait and wait for the train to make its long trip around the park. They need new management for sure, someone who knows how to expedite guest experiences in a much more efficient manner. Love or hate Disney or Universal, they know how to get people through their shows and attractions at the highest rate possible. We most likely will not be going back to this place, but worth a one time visit if you can discounted tickets

We took some out-of-town guests to Bonfante Gardens this summer and enjoyed it so much that we bought season's passes. It's definitely not for adrenaline junkies - the rides are gentle rather than heart pounding - but it was a clean and friendly place to spend the day. The kids especially liked the water areas where they could cool off in sprinklers and waterfalls.

I find this place to be very beautiful and reasonably relaxing compared to other venues like Great America. The kids have a blast and really enjoy the new water play area, the car and water rides, the maze and railroad and balloon rides.

They have the most interesting trees here. The gardens are beautiful. The kids enjoy the rides and the water play area. It is a little difficult to get to but well worth it.

My wife and I took our 4-year-old son and 11-month-old daughter to the Gardens about a month ago. We had heard the park was well suited to pre-schoolers and we were not dissappointed. They have a number of rides for kids under 4', a water/sprinkler area, a playground, and a giant greenhouse (with butterflies).

The grounds were clean and the overall feel was very family-friendly (a nice contrast to Great America which often seems overrun with teenagers).

My only gripes are that it was very hot and the food options weren't the greatest (a little too greasy and on the lower end of the quality scale).

PROS: family friendly and great for pre schoolers
CONS: hot and the food is nothing to write home about

I think Bonfante Gardens is a beautiful park. The rides are very mellow, not exactly for thrill seekers. However, it's so pretty and calm and a nice place to stroll around. It is probaby too slow for pre-teens and older, though.

PROS: beautiful, manicured gardens

Bonfante is a lovely amusement park. I like the fact that younger kids can ride lots of the rides. The adults appreciated all the gardens and interesting trees. It can get hot - so come prepared. You can even bring the kids swim suits for the water play section

PROS: good for young kids

Our kids loved this place so we make it back from time to time each year. They love all the water themed areas and the ice creams on a hot day.

Only problem is it gets hotter there than in San Jose so you do end up spending most of your time in the water area.

I think Bonfante Gardens is a perfect place to bring your kids 10 and under. It has many great rides, a water park that the kids love, a large playground, a train that takes you around the whole park, and many more fun things to do. For the adults, the park is beautifully landscaped and there are circus trees to admire throughout the park.

This is a great little amusement park. All the rides are great for the kids. There is plenty of fun for adults both on the rides and off. The park is filled with wonderful plants and trees, especially the circus trees. These amazing trees are actually multiple tree that have been grafted together to form incredible shapes.

A great place all around.

The park is mainly geared for children ages 8 and under. There are a few rides for the older bunch, however they tend to get bored after awhile. My younger children had a wonderful time, it's always clean, the food is good, and the lines are never too long.

Most of the rides are geared for the pre-teen and under which is perfect. Lots of history here too, almost like an outdoor museum at times which is great for adults.

The kids favorite thing to do is run under the water falls and hike in the rock maze. After a brief and expensive lunch of not too bad food we head over to the jungle Jim and then back to the water.

They love it.

Bonfante Gardens is one of my favorite places to go with the kids. It is a beautiful park with lots of fun rides for children under 10. My favorite is the car ride which has two tracks. One is a track the represents the 1950s and the other is a track that represents the 1920s. A lot of planning went into this ride and I could go on it over and over again.

Bonfante's Garden is an amazing amusement park created by Michael Bonfante. This park is home of the circus trees. There are amzing gardens located right inside this park. There are waterfalls, different trees, and fun rides. The rides are based on the park like the Quiksilver Express. This fun-thrilled rollercoaster is a ride that duplicates the Gold Mines back in the days. There is an exact replica of a train station back in 1863. This amusement park is wonderful and there are many areas in which small children can enjoy.

I love going to Bonfante Gardens. The plants were exotic and beautiful and there were barely any lines for the rides. Although this place wouldn't be for those thrill ride seekers, it's definitely a place for those with younger children. Worth it for the admission price!

Bonfante Gardens is one of those rare attractions that combine a nice clean, city park atmosphere with a hint of amusement park. For a low key day, Bonfante has lots of gardens with weird shaped trees as well as a few water rides (paddle boats, floats). They have a couple roller coasters (no upside down types) and a large greenhouse with butterflies and moths with tropical foliage. New this year was the addition of a water attraction, Splash Garden. Definitely a low key "amusement park", best suited to younger families or those who just want to stroll and take in leisurely rides. One more perk: they have an arrangement with Great America where if you buy their VIP season pass, it includes admission (all season) to Bonfante.

This place is def for little kids, at least all the rides are geared toward them, however it's good for them. It has an unusual theme of vegetables. The admission is pretty inexpensive. Their is a kiddie roller coaster in the back of trhe park, also visit the butterfly house

Have trouble with getting your little ones to like their fruits and veggies? Here they have rides like the banana which swings up high from side top side, the garlic, etc. There are some rides here so it is kind of an amusement park, but it is also mostly a garden. They have trees and bushes cut into different shapes. Some trees with really interesting trunks. There is a little train ride around the park which gives you a tour of their special plant life. It doesnt have roller coasters if thats what you're looking for.

This is a really nice amusement park for your little ones. It had rides for toddlers and rides for elementary aged children too. There are beautiful waterfalls and gardens as you walk through the park. Many choices of food. It is a bit pricey for but you can get summer passes and go unlimited amount of times to make it worth while.
