We found UB Kitchens through a search on google and were a little hesitant to go somewhere that wasn't a "big box" store. I met with Joe and Adam and couldn't have asked for a better experience. They were so friendly and welcoming upon our first visit - spent so much time talking us through the whole process and answering every single question I had (there were a lot, trust me). This was my very first remodel and to say that I was nervous would be a total understatement.
They recommended the MidContinent line based on my budget and I immediately found a door style and color I liked. Joe came and measured (at no cost) and put a design together and quote together for me. Just for kicks, I went to Lowe's to get a quote, as well. While the designer I met with was super friendly, they weren't half as knowledgeable as the guys at UB Kitchens. And the quote was higher.
I decided to order with UB Kitchens and the cabinets were in in about 3 weeks. They did the tear-out and installation in 2 days and my countertops were in 6 days later. Every person I came into contact with was amazing - Adam (the owner), Joe (the designer), the installers, delivery guys. Very professional and always eager to please. If you're looking for exceptional service, this is definitely the place you want to get your kitchen from. I highly recommend!

Too disappointed!!!! I did all my research and finally walked in to UBK. The person who serve me with an arrogant attitude and not as all the reviews stated how nice and friendly they were.Without showing me anything he just gave me a quote for $9000-$10,000 for a kitchen lay out less than 10x10.What a horrible experienced

Business Response:

Please read our google response to this review. This review was written by the owner of a Chinese Cabinet Shop minutes from our store. This review was written weeks after we started our Buy American / Made In The USA commercials campaign. There are no less than five stores in Austin selling Chinese Cabinets and passing them off as made in the USA. Do your research before you purchase any cabinets. Also, beware of companies selling RTA or Flat pack cabinets or selling kitchens for $2,000. They are Chinese cabinets and they pose serious health hazards. Google Chinese Sheetrock, or Chinese Cabinets - Fromaldehyde. Please take a minute to re-read the grammar in this review. Also, please check our A+ BBB ratings and Honor Roll Angie's List Ratings. Thanks

The challenge with this review is to make it compelling enough for you to say, "Wow! I need to check these guys out." but not too over the top that folks at Under Budget Kitchens start strutting around saying "Yeah, that's right! That's right! We bad!"

The Short version:
In short, everyone we dealt with (Adam, Anne, all of the installers, their partners, etc.) was awesome and the entire experience (design, pricing, installation, counters, appliances, customer service, etc.) exceeded our expectations. Adam has built a business that is genuinely focused on customer service and satisfaction.

The Long version:
On a whim one weekend, I found myself talking to a kitchen designer at one of the big box stores. We've been in the same old house for 10+ years with an extremely outdated and dysfunctional kitchen. We never tackled the kitchen because of all the stories we'd heard about the average kitchen remodel costing $25-30K. Not something we could remotely afford. However, we now had a situation where we were going to move across town and needed to rent our house. Knowing that a crappy kitchen would probably just attract crappy renters, I decided to test the waters and find out exactly how much it would cost and how long it would take.

The designer at the big box store was easy to work with and more than capable. In fact, she was very encouraging and wasn't trying to scare us away even when we said we were going to try to do as much as possible ourselves. Unfortunately, after the initial design sessions when pricing and timing were discussed, I started to get cold feet. What started out as fairly reasonable ballpark numbers for low-end cabinets was now considerable higher once all the costs and upgrades started to get factored in. In addition, by the time I laid out all of the time estimates from beginning to end, their start-to-finish time was anywhere from 12 to 15 weeks. Egads! No way I could inflict that on the family.

I knew trying to find a lower-priced option was a long shot, especially since I was probably going to start to get into boutique territory. I did some research online and ran across really good reviews for Under Budget Kitchens. At the very least, I figured they would scare me away with their high prices and snobby customer service and make me glad I at least had the big box option. I couldn't have been more wrong or more lucky to find them.

I went in late one day with my pictures and plans to see how far I would even get before I got shooed out. As luck would have it, Adam was the only one there that evening. I laid everything out for him and basically told him that I just needed to know if they were even in the same league as the big box, or was I just wasting everyone's time. Granted I am paraphrasing at this point, but he said, "I will beat the big box on cabinet price, quality, installation costs, start-to-finish time and customer service." Whoa! Where do I sign up?

I could go on and on documenting all of the wonderful things that Adam and his crew did to make our project a success but I shouldn't, so let me wrap up with one example. In the initial meeting, when I expressed my concern about the 12-15 week timeline that the big box was working toward, Adam said he could do it in half the time. He could do it because he has his own install team and because of his relationship with the cabinet maker and the counter top people. Even if it took a little longer, that was still much better. Figuring that it wasn't possible for him to actually make that time frame, I screwed around and did not arrange to have my sink within that initial window. Surely everything won't fall together that perfectly, will it? I was wrong and $3.99 Next Day Air with Amazon Prime saved the day. There were still lots of visits from Adam, Anne and the installers over the next few weeks to get everything just right, but my cabinets and counters were in place and we were happy.

Every step of the way, Adam and his team were like a partner in this undertaking. If it weren't for them, our low-end kitchen remodel would never have come out looking as fabulous as it did. I can't believe that we were so fortunate to have run across Under Budget Kitchens.

We have been planning this kitchen remodel for 4 years. When we finally felt ready to take the plunge, we started with a big box store and just didn't feel like it was a good fit for us-not a very creative plan and we just didn't feel comfortable. Next we tried another local kitchen store and really loved their plan until they presented the cost which was $7000 over our budget before appliances, electrical etc. Nuts to that!
When we met with Anne and Adam at Under Budget Kitchens, what a difference. Anne's design was wonderful and so thoughtful to details that I might like. She was also very aware of our budget and helped us make selections that made our dream kitchen possible without breaking the bank. A major makeover is stressful and this group did everything possible to make it as easy and stressless as possible. They were so flexible, even adjusting the install schedule when the pre-construction ran into additional days. That meant that their installers were here on both a Saturday and Sunday but no grumbling from anyone. Also we now understand how a good installation can make or break your overall satisfaction with the cabinets. Brian and Thomas were top drawer. They made every cabinet look beautiful and did some fancy trimming where the cabinet trim met with an angled ceiling. Adam even provided some plywood counter tops to make it livable until the real counter tops came through. You don't find that kind of thoughtful service just anywhere. Making us happy was their top concern and we sure are. This has been a great experience and we highly recommend this company.

When we got to the stage in our plans to remodel our 1932 Hyde Park home to choose cabinets and a cabinet company, like so many people, we started looking at the well-known big box stores with their miserable customer service and narrow selection. We needed quality and value, classic style that would speak to the age and original design of the home but not at custom prices, and service; someone who could interpret what we said we wanted and turn it into concrete choices we could see. Joe Hoffer, at Under Budget Kitchens, did all that and more for us. He led us through the various styles and grades of quality, (though all grades were better than what we??d seen to that point), helped us design a layout that is way beyond our wildest hopes, and blew our minds with how much we found we could get with our limited budget. He showed us preliminary and final designs using a custom 3-D computer presentation on a big screen at UBK that he could alter right in front of us to help us make changes we thought of once we saw how things would look. He had ideas of his own that have ended up being our favorite things, too!

Adam, owner/manager of UBK Austin, stepped in several times during the process to make sure that we were getting all the help we needed (we always were), and made such a connection with us that we had to make him leave us with Joe in our design meetings or we??d have never finished! The installations went great, done in just a few short days though we bought cabinets for two bathrooms and a kitchen/dining room with a large island, a pantry you could park a bus in, and a specialty cabinet custom made for our clothes washer and dryer, (thanks, Hector!). That last item was not on the normal menu but UBK makes your dreams happen!

The results not only startle our friends and family but, perhaps more telling, every construction professional that comes into our house asks who did our cabinetry? after they pick their jaws up off the floor. We could not recommend these fine professionals to our friends with anymore enthusiasm. Call them and make your dream kitchen happen!

We first visited Underbudgetkitchen's showroom in 2009. From the first day we arrived Adam and Annie made us feel special and relaxed. After a year of saving and visiting other showrooms, we felt that UBK was the only cabinet supplier that had pushed the right buttons and was willing to provide a product that we would be proud to put in our home and help us to stay within our budget. Other cabinets suppliers helped to keep us within our budget by providing less bells, whistles and quality. After two months of changing our minds MANY times (each adjustment was made with a smile by UBK) we were finally ready to get going and this is three weeks before Thanskgiving. Cabinets (inluding bathroom remodel) arrived on Nov 15th and by Nov 18th were installed in our home. The installers were GREAT and provided a service we can't just keep to ourselves. Let me tell you why. We have an island that sits in the center of our kitchen. The dilemma we had was when to install the tile so we could move the applicances back into place, without damaging the island, etc. The installers provided an idea to add wheels to the island, which we could move during the tile laying. This could also be used for buffet style serving for our partys. BOY, what a relief. IT WAS the BEST THING and we love it. Nobody can tell it is on wheels either. The best also was to come with the service we received after the install, Adam came to check the job himself to ensure we were happy and satisfied. We spoke to him about handles and some panels which we were unhappy with. The panels were changed and his installers installed the handles. We are extremely happy and proud of our kitchen and bathroom cabinets Adam and Co. are truly great to work with. Thanks again for making this an enjoyable and positive experience.

.. After visiting a few cabinet businesses in the Austin area and either getting no help or no return calls, my wife and I stopped by Under Budget Kitchens. We were greeted by John and that's when the good began.. All of our questions, and we had plenty, were answered immediately and professionally.. John listened to our ideas, understood what we wanted and made it happen.. Perfectly! The customer service at UBK is above and beyond any we have experienced in the 25 + years we have lived in Austin.. We simply could not be happier with our new kitchen and our decision to have UBK do the work. .. Do yourself a favor, save yourself some time and alot of money, and have your kitchen done by UBK. It's as simple as that.. Thanks John. Thanks Adam. .. Jeff and Shirley

Once again Adam and his great team have come through for us with better results than what we had expected and/or previously received. Your great service and customer satisfaction only gets better every time we have do business with you. This will mark our fourth wonderful experience and I do not expect it to be our last. UB Kitchens is the place you want to go if you want top quality at great prices. We recently had our home appraised and the gentleman conducting the appraisal was more than impressed with our new kitchen; he went on to say that he could tell our cabinets were top quality and not something you will find just anywhere. Great job UBK!! Maybe you should adjust your name to UBK-1 to indicate you are #1 in Austin!!

I recently had some cabinets install in a downtown condo and contacted a few companies for comparison. I went with Under Budget to do the install, mainly because the runner up company required $1000 to come out take measurements and give me a final cost on the cabinet install, while Under Budget came out to the condo free of charge to take measurement and give a final estimate. Under Budget also came in lower than the other company on the estimate.

Lower price does not always mean better, so I was not sure what to expect. Once the work began, I was sure that I made the right decision. Under Budget exceeded my expectations in every aspect. They worked around my schedule and the installers and the owner paid extremely close attention to detail during the install. The owner, Adam, and installers were very friendly and went out of their way to ensure that I was a satisfied customer. I had a discussion with Adam in which he expressed his business philosophy was to treat customers the way you would want to be treated, provide a quality product at a good price, and follow through on what you say you are going to do. That??s what they did. I cannot recommend Under Budget enough. GREAT WORK.

My wife and I were thoroughly pleased with the experience of picking, designing and ordering kitchen cabinets from Under Budget. The salesperson, Ann, and Adam the owner, were delightful and more than helpful. The cabinets were beautiful, built with craftsman quality. They were ready when they said they would be and delivered as agreed upon. The whole experience was wonderful and best of all...under budget!

Under Budget Cabinets?Unbelievable deal. We shopped around before we went to Under Budget and what we found is that they were half the price of the next lowest estimate. We had an incredible experience working with everyone. The sales rep Ann helped us with design and came to our home for an exact measurement. The installers were all very professional, courteous, and did extras during the install without additional charges. Everything was done on schedule and went as planned. The cabinets are beautiful and are solid wood and plywood, no particle board anywhere. The owner of the company, Adam, came to do the final quality inspection himself and has made many calls to make sure we are very happy and pleased. I have never had service like this anywhere and at an incredible price. If you don??t use Under Budget you will be making a mistake.

I recently purchased my new kitchen from Adam at Under Budget Cabinets and could not be happier. I myself am a general contractor and I flip homes for a living. I dealt with just about every kitchen cabinet company in the Austin area and can say with confidence that Under Budget has the best services and lowest prices in town! If you are in the market for a new kitchen or bathroom this is the place to go. FYI they also offer counter tops and flooring. Great products! Great people!

I was in the market to remodel my kitchen and saw an ad on TV advertising a local cabinet company called Under Budget Cabinets. I had already planned to go with a larger box store but thought it wouldn't hurt to stop in and see the showroom.

They were straight forward with they pricing and came out to the house and measured my kitchen for free. After the designer sat down with me and presented my kitchen design in complete detail for half the price I was sold.

Everyone from the designers to the installers were professional and considerate.

These guys are great!

I purchased my new Kitchen Cabinets and countertops from Adam @ Underbudget Cabinets, His total after instillation and taxes, oh and countertops, was $2000 less than Home Depot. They arrived earlier than promised and waited for a good time for me to do the instillation. I will do business with them again in the future in a heart beat.
