There are two locations of the same shop (one in Mt Prospect, one in Evanston) - their focus is on indies, small press books, and the like, and it's the kind of well-lit presentable environment your grandmother would like. Large selection of trades & modern books, but back issues are limited to books from within the last 6 months or so. They're pretty much all priced at $1, though - so it's not a bad place to stock up on some cheap modern books, if you can live with books that have been thumbed through whilst on the racks for months (Mt. Prospect has the larger selection of the two).

No wall books, no BA/SA/GA, moderns only.

A word of caution about the Evanston store: When I went there, I picked up a couple of books that had just been released, but it wasn't until I got home that I realized that they had actually put a HUGE white bar code sticker on the back of the UN-BAGGED comic book. Needless to say, when I tried to get the sticker off, it pulled of part of the back cover too.

Nuts.
