Normally I'm a pretty easy going person and I completely understand "things" happen. However, after my experience with Panhandle Getaways (www.panhandlegetaways.com) and their inability to take responsibility for the problems and their overall RUDE attitude has driven me to share my experience, in hopes it will save others from having the same headaches.

The first red flag should have been when I called to make a reservation and was told that none of the properties I was looking at were available. After further investigation I discovered that they advertise their properties (and some that are not even theirs) on numerous websites and show them as available in order to generate calls/leads (bait.) Then when you call in, that property is of course not available, but conveniently they do have another property for you...
I made my reservations after discussing my options and explaining what I was looking for and making sure a LATE check-in was ok since we weren't leaving Atlanta until 6PM, and making an emphasis that I NEED wifi to be able to stay connected to work. I was reassured the condo had it, so no worries. Once I get my confirmation email I call back to add an extra day so that we are not traveling on labor day which they had no problem with and recharged my card. My final confirmation email was suppose to contain the door code so I called once I realized it did not. I get someone different on the phone this time and they did apologize that they just took over this unit (which I later find out is a lie) and tell me I'll need a door key to get it. "Ok, well where do I get that?" They email me the address where I can pick it up, I map it on Google and discover its 9mi (~17min) away. Ok, well I didn't want to have to drive 34 minutes out of my way, but not the end of the world. I did however express that I would have liked to know this in advance. The email response I received back was: "It's not that far of a drive, we drive up and down the route every day, you just need to relax and try to enjoy your vacation." Hmm, not sure how I feel about this, seems a little rude, but I let it go.
I then see that their office closes at 11pm, great another problem, since I can't leave Atlanta until 6pm and it is a 6 hour drive. So, once again I contact them and they tell me they will see what they can do and call me back. A few hours go by and no response so I call them back. They tell me they will just have to leave the key card in an envelope on the porch of their office.
Hold on, their was some good news... on our way down I did get a phone call from them telling me they were able to drop off the key card at the office at the condo. Great!
We get down and settled in and I break out my computer to do some work (yes, a good bit of my work is done after midnight) and discover there is not a sufficient wifi signal. Call the company the next day to inquire about the wifi and garbage disposal that will not work which caused the sink to back up. Their response: "Sorry sir, but we just took over this property." Um, ok, what's your point? You don't inspect them before you take over them? They tell me they will have to contact the owner and get back to me, which they did a few days later with the same "we are sorry, there is nothing we can do, we just took over the property, it's not our fault."
Yes, because someone else told me that you had wifi... Well then I'm told I should just go down in the lobby and use the condo's. Great, just what I want to do at midnight, go sit in a condo lobby and work.
So now some good, the condo (The Shores of Panama) was ok, not what you would expect for the price, but the pool was awesome and they had some great activities setup for the kids. Although the elevators technically worked, none of the buttons lit up, and the floor indicator didn't work so it was a fun game of hoping it would stop at your floor. :)
We did enjoy our vacation until the final day. We go down to the pool to get some chairs early and then I run back up to the room to get something I forgot and then I discover we are locked out! Oh, and lovely, my cellphone, car keys, wallet, and everything else is in the room. So I run down to the lobby and explain my situation to them. After several failed attempts to get a hold of Panhandle Getaways and a few hours later a lady that worked for the Shores of Panama was nice enough to make us a key for the day.
Oh and remember how I said above I found out Panhandle Getaways was lying about when they took the unit over... well I found a maid's inspection book while we were cleaning and packing that showed date stamps proving they were lying. To this day all I have received from them is a "Sorry, we just took the unit over" half-hearted, bitter apology. Thank you Panhandle Getaways! And thus concludes our phenomenal experience with a Customer Centric company... HA!

Bahia Baytowne Wharf 4th floor room 4412
Well lets see we arrived at the resort to check in and we find out the company we rented from panhandle getaways should have given us a passcode to get into the room and they didn't send it the woman claimed it was a mistake and said well maybe you need to check your spam mail maybe its there. Strike#1!!!!! The room was not all that clean at all marks were left on the floor from the peoples luggage that had stayed there before us stove and dishes were nasty table still had food on it. Strike#2!!!! Rented the place because of the pool and all the things that the wharf had to offer get to looking for a way to get into the pool and there was no card left in the room for it. The lady from customer service at panhandle getaways said that housekeeping would bring us one the next morning well they never showed. So I call them back and they tell me the housekeeper they use is out of town and a that if we wanted to pick one up we could go to the pilot house to be nice and still a bit understanding we did. Went and got the card for the pool got ready and went to the pool only to find out the card didn't work so here we go again. We call back and the woman says well they will have to bring you one in the morning and that never happened. So finally on the fourth day of our stay which was only five days the housekeeper finally brings us a key to the pool. So to make up for there mistakes they then offer us and extra night for free and we accepted it thinking well ok they are trying to make up for all the issues. So we are there on the morning we were really supposed to have checked out we take our dogs out to potty before we go to the beach. Only to come back to the room only to find out the passcode for the door is not good anymore so here we are with our two small dogs locked out of our room so i leave my wife and dogs standing out by our room while I walk a half a mile back to where you have to check in at the Grand main building. I had just taken my dogs out and all my stuff was in the room cell phone and all. So I get to the main building to use the phone and the woman tells me that the code for the room has changed and that she forgot to mention that it would. Now this was the icing on the cake for everything. Here we are these people have pretty much ruined our vacation which can not be given back. We paid close to seven hundred dollars for a bunch of crap!!!!!!!!! They can not fix the vacation being ruined they could atleast give me half of my money back for all the issues but they dont want to do that. All they want to do is bring up well we gave you and extra night well to my understanding that was to make up for the whole issue will the card for all the amminaties that came with the place. But failing to tell someone that a code is going to change is just uncalled for to leave someone with to small dogs locked out of there room looking like a fool. They just don't realize how having bad remarks on reviews will hurt there business. Well we questioned as to why no one was really renting the place right before us and after us and now we know why. Read the remarks on the bbb board sight too before you rent a place I really wish I had before we rented from this company. I would suggest that you rent from any other company than panhandle getaways!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now don't get me wrong the buildings and the whole area in the resort and the people here have been nice and great but not panhandle getaways thats the only ones we have had any issues with.

I rented from Panhandle Getaways at 513 Pelican Beach Resort and had a wonderful time! The place was spotless with fantastic views from the 5th floor. The resort had a kiddie pool and a tiki bar! Great location, near lots of restaurants. I will return next year! Thanks Panhandle Getaways for making our stay so enjoyable!
