Ratings_icons GREAT EYE DOCTOR!!!

Christina W.

Being in Houston, I have many eye care providers to choose from but when it came to my decision on choosing an eye doctor I chose a group with the reputation for quality service. I visited Dr. Deanna Pena Garcia at Houston Eye Associates' Augusta location and I was completely amazed at the quality of service in which I received. Dr. Pena Garcia was very thorough in explaining everything to me and she definitely exceeded my expectations. I would recommend Dr. Pena Garcia to anyone who is looking for a great eye doctor in Houston. The staff was very knowledgeable and was very helpful during my visit. I will definitely be a lifetime patient!!!

Ratings_icons Great Experience

When I needed new glasses and hadn't been to the eye doctor for a long time, I asked one of my co-workers to recommend someone - she recommended Dr. Pena - Garcia at Houston Eye Associates. The office was pretty easy to find and there was ample parking in the attached garage. I found Dr. Garcia to be very professional and patient with all my questions. I hadn't been to an eye doctor for a while, so I had quite a few questions. She explained every test in thorough detail. I didn't feel at all rushed through the appointment and left feeling like I completely understood my sight problems and how to care for my eyes.

When I picked out my glasses, a very nice woman helped me determine the right shape for my face. Although there were many VERY expensive frames available, there were also designer frames available that were in my budget.

I would recommend Houston Eye Associates and in particular, Dr. Garcia. I think she is great!

Ratings_icons Great Eye Place!!

J G.

Dr. Deanna Pena Garcia is a neat lady and the best eyedoc that I have seen in years. I have had the best experience at this location. She explained everything she was doing and why she was doing it throughout the entire exam for me and my daughter. I cannot think of one eye doc in the history of me wearing glasses (over 20 years) that has given me this much information. She went over the best options of CLs for my daughter and Cindy taught her how to put them in and take them out in record time. We thought she would take a few sessions to learn-nope!!

So I am now recommending Dr Garcia and her staff to all my family and friends. Hope you get to meet her, you won't be disappointed.

I just read a review of Houston Eye Associates Augusta office and strongly disagree. I am a patient of Dr. Garcia's and wanted to mention she has a beautiful office in the Augusta area. Dr. Garcia and her staff have always been helpful in getting my contacts ordered timely and go the extra mile when I am in for my visits. If you need an eye doctor in the Galleria area, go see Dr. Deanna Pena-Garcia, you will not be disapointed!

Ratings_icons Great Eye Doc, But Horrible Service

Carole G.

Nestled between some aging Augusta Drive townhomes in a decrepit 1980's office building, sits the Galleria-area location of Houston Eye Associates. Dr. Deanna Pena Garcia is a sheer pleasure to meet. She is very competent, honest and thorough in her work. It is unfortunate that she is part of this business.

The front office staff can only be described as surly and indifferent. One can't help but notice their loathing of customers either in person or on the telephone. On a recent visit in July, my teenage son and I had our eye exams. While I was having my exam, Cindy was helping my son select the most expensive prescription sunglasses (about $600 after the discount and insurance) on Earth. Blurry-eyed from the dilation, I was released in time to intervene, interference which Cindy obviously did not appreciate. We left after purchasing regular designer glasses for him, the delivery of which was promised in a week.

Over one month later, with no contact from Cindy, we called to inquire about the status of this purchase. Cindy contacted the lab and learned that the lenses had been cut awhile back, but were just sitting there because they didn't have the frames. She advised that they would be shipped to her in two days and that we should call her because she would be too busy to call us. The following week we called again and received an entirely different explanation as to why the glasses weren't ready. Cindy explained that the lab was overloaded with lenses to cut for the kids going back to school and the lenses still needed to be cut. We reminded her of her original explanation and pressed for a refund or the glasses to be found immediately. Cindy miraculously found the glasses and promised them to be ready in the afternoon. When my husband stopped in to pick them up, Cindy avoided waiting on him. Instead, a receptionist gave them to him in a plastic bag. When he asked for a case, she gave him one for Adidas-brand frames instead of Giorgio Armani. We have always received the matching cases for glasses we purchased so this was highly unusual.

Later, we contacted the office by telephone to ask for the name of the office manager and district manager. An employee named Desiree stifled some derisive laughter while on the phone. When we inquired if she was okay, she rudely replied "Yeah?!"

This business is run unprofessionally. We would recommend avoiding this place altogether; however, if you are strong enough to resist the carnie-type tactics of the eye-glasses salesperson, Dr. Garcia is a great eye doctor.
