Oy such a sandwich!

by Fanny K. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 288

Of course you will want to start with matzoh ball soup and then get such an over-stuffed pastrami on rye you will have to losen your belt, or better yet, remove it. Take half of the sandwich home, you cannot finish it. When the urge grabs you, run to Friedman's Deli and indulge!!

Best brunch ..

by beijingseth

Best Brunch in area.
I remember the old place. It had good pastrami and that was all. This past weekend I was told by a neighbor about the remodeled restaurant. What a pleasant surprise. Everything was good and affordable during theses times of unemployment. Hate spending it all at 202. . The eggs smoked salmon on potato pancake was very good. My partner had the pancakes. As sweet and fluffy as he.
Cute waiter new to town was honest and helpful. Would have loved a Bloody Mary. Soon to come I was told.
Will definetly be back...

Over-cooked

by kyoung116

The Friedman's Deli definition of Kosher must mean cook it until it's burnt to a crisp.

One of the first things you may notice when you walk in are the dried up hot dogs behind the register. They keep them sitting on foil on a cold grill. I'm guessing they don't want to dirty the grill unnecessarily. No, they do not re-heat the dogs, they just serve them cold, burnt, and wrinkly.

Chicken fingers...don't forget to bring your steak knife. They cook their fingers so long, that they become so hard and dry, it feels like you're eating balsa wood.

Pastrami...dry. Katz's deli they are not even close.

Hopefully someone at Friedman's reads this and tries eating their own food.

Pros: Friendly staff

Cons: Food

by shebes28

The pastrami is soooooo delicious and perfectly cooked. The knishes are amazing. The matzah ball soup tastes like grandmas... and the chopped liver is sooo good. That's all i've tasted so far.... and i'm going back for more!!!

Pros: GREAT JEWISH FOOD

AMAAAAZING FOOD!

by alferens

All I can say about anything I've ever eaten here is that it's like a party in your mouth! Great if you're in the mood for a filling meal (the pastrami is out of this world!), or even if you just feel like a nosh (knishes, pickles, grilled veggies, french fries, sweet potato fries, YUUMMMY!!). Staff is friendly, quick and very attentive. And they're open late too, so it's a great place for lunch OR dinner.

Pros: Great location in Chelsea, friendly staff, food to die for!
