I don't usually write reviews, but I had to after seeing the super long complaint posted. Maybe this person got confused and wrote one about the wrong store? I definitely had a different experience.
I am a beader of 10+ years, and I have been to many stores, all over the country. I have family that moved to the Troy area recently and was so excited to see there was a bead store, too! I was expecting to be disappointed when we got there, but got the best surprise!
Paula was incredibly helpful and very polite. Her inventory reflected a passion for what she does, and included a wide variety of tools and a TON of findings! They even have stained glass supplies.
When she offered to special order something I was looking for and I told her I lived out of town, she even offered to ship it to me. This is a GREAT bead store with excellent service and a fantastic selection. Troy is lucky to have such a gem, and I can't wait to visit again. Of all the shops in the St. Louis area we visited, this one was my favorite!

Pros: friendly, great prices, knowledgeable, great selection

Cons: too far from my house!

Three Monkeys is a wonderful place to shop or have a custom piece of jewelry made. I have seen them recreate wedding jewelry out of catalogs at a fraction of the cost. The owner Paula is one of the nicest people I have met in a long time. She is always willing to help in whatever way she can. She has opened her shop early and stayed late whenever I have need her to. She has taught me alot about beading and glass work. Her patience level is a mile long and she doesn't get frustrated if she has to show you something twice. I have seen her wedding creations and they are just GORGEOUS!
I have seen her have a smile on her face even when dealing with some bridezillas! Some brides have come in with champagne taste but on a beer budget, and she has made some unique and wonderful pieces that fit in their budget. I would definitely recommend her to anyone for either teaching or purchasing beading or glass work.

Everything about my experience with this company was horrible! I believe the person I consulted with to be exceptionally rude and unprofessional. I experienced this through both email and in person. And I was not the only one from my family to have this first hand experience. She was also disrespectful of the budget that I gave her, even though after receiving it she assured me she could easily work within it. When she completed my designs and sent me pricing information every single set I was planning to purchase (there were 3 different designs) was over budget. One of them was almost double the budget I told her I needed to stay within. More often than not, she did not follow through with things she said she would do. For example, in person, I gave her my information and some design guidelines and she told me she would email me some examples within a week. I waited a month and never even heard back from her. I had to contact her, and then yet again she did follow through on promises made. I was originally told that this was a back and forth design process, yet she rarely listened to what I liked, did not like, wanted, and did not want. Through her actions and statements it became very clear to me that she was going to do what she wanted to do, no matter what I thought about it. The most disturbing thing that I experienced with the lady I was consulting with is that she engages in what I believe to be dishonest and unfair sales practices. She sent me a picture of my jewelry set, and once I let her know that is exactly what I wanted to go with, she sent me the pricing information. She also sent me a picture of the jewelry set for the bridesmaids, along with a price. Then several days later she sent me a comprehensive price list for all the sets of jewelry I was going to purchase through her. She had never priced my mom or grandma's jewelry for me before, so I had no preconceived ideas as to their exact pricing. She had already sent me pricing on my set and the bridesmaid's sets though, and it caught my attention that this pricing didn't seem to match the original pricing she had given me. So I looked back at my old emails. I am so thankful I did! If not, I believe I would have ended up being taken advantage of by this company! Both sets of jewelry were now being quoted at a different price than they originally had, yet there had been absolutely no design change, meaning there was no reason that the price should have changed. I immediately emailed her asking about the price changes, and she emailed me back, but completely avoided answering my question in her email. So I emailed her yet again, explaining that it was very concerning to my fianc and I that our sets didn't change in design whatsoever, yet the pricing had, and we wanted to know why. I even told her that I compared the original picture of the bridesmaid's set that included a lower price and the picture she had sent me of the set with the new, higher price, just to make sure there were no design changes that would warrant the price change. I counted every bead, every crystal, compared the clasps, compared the earrings, etc., and they were absolutely identical. That is what confirmed my belief that she was not pricing items for what they were worth, but instead pricing items based off of how much she wanted to make on them that day. She did email me back but once again she completely avoided the question as to why the pricing on both my set and the bridesmaids set had changed. Instead she sent me back an email that I found to be extremely rude and personally degrading. I believe the reason she avoided my questions is because I caught her trying to scam us!
