The Wax Spot

So....I had to literally psych myself up to make the call to schedule the appointment, but I was immediately comfortable when a bubbly and friendly voice answered on the other end! It was Angelica herself! I made the appt., hung up and smiled!! I was sooooo excited!!! I live in the Heights and I LOVE the relaxed non "froo froo" yet still classy nature of this place. The place was awesome and Christi (my waxer) was amazing! I felt right at home and was not at all intimidated! She conversed with me and was up front about the level of pain that I may or may not experience. I knew EXACTLY what to expect and I loved that! I was able to laugh and actually enjoy my appointment...as much as you can expect to enjoy any waxing that is :)Thank you ladies for your amazing work! See you Saturday!

Angelica is really comforting and so easy to talk to. She will get the job done quickly and as painlessly as possible. I dread this chore, but at the wax spot it is like taking a break from the hectic day to watch a sitcom on the t.v. she has in the room.

First time and what an easy experience. Angelica is great at what she does. The pain, although slight, was nothing compared to what I thought it would be. It was a very pleasant experience, we talked, we laughed, and it was over quickly. I will be back. Thanks Angelica, you are great!

Today was my first waxing experience and as a male I was a little nervous walking in. Once I was introduced to Angelica the hour went by fast. I had my chest and back waxed -- she talked me through the whole experience and it really was not that painful. She is extremely friendly and puts you at ease. I will definitely be back in the future.

I am soooooo excited if have found this place!!! By far the BEST wax job I've ever had with the LEAST amount of pain! Angelica was INCREDIBLY friendly helped make what usually feels like an awkward situation over before you knew it. I am so in love with this place I cant stop telling EVERYONE about it!!!! I am not the type to take the time to go onlie to do reviews, but after trying the AMAZING experiance I had at The Wax Spot, this is my first!!!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would recommend the Wax Spot to everyone! They do such a great job and they are very friendly. This was my first Brazilian wax experience and it was a great one minus the pain but she did a great job minimizing that. I'm defintely going back.

I frequently pass The Wax Spot while walking or biking through the Heights but never had the nerve to make an appointment. I knew I'd look better if the natural fur coat on my back were removed, but it's not easy for a 50+ year old guy to consent to a cosmetic overhaul. When I finally took the plunge, Angelica handled my bruised ego with care and addressed the problem expertly. I will be a regular.

Angelica makes you feel comfortable while giving you a Brazilian which is NEVER comfortable. She makes you feel like you are at home talking with an old friend who just happens to also be waxing you. LOL! She is great. The place is so nice, clean and professional and the location is great. I will NEVER go anywhere else. I have had 4 Brazilian waxes from Angelica and finally made it to this site to post my review that she is just fabulous! Sorry for the delay!

This was my first service at The Wax Spot. I called for an appointment and was given one the very next day. Angelica was fantastic from start to finish. She greeted me the minute I walked in the door and offered me a cold bottle of water as she remembered I walked to the spa. She was professional and courteous. During the Brazillian wax, Angelica conversed with me and made me feel comfortable. The procedure is never completely pain free, but I've had it done at other spas and I have to say that Angelica's technique is awesome. She made the Brazillian a Breeze! And the outcome was complete satisfaction. I will be going to the Wax Spot regularly. I would recommend Angelica to anyone and everyone!

I had my first ever wax today and was prepared for the worst (as far as pain)........... I got the BEST! Angelica is awesome! I was so nervous, being that my eyebrows were the only thing I had ever had waxed, but Angelica made me feel comfortable and put my mind at ease right from the start! The wax itself was not bad AT ALL! Of course there is discomfort (come on..it's a wax) but no real pain involved. She is fast, keeps your mind occupied, and is really nice! I can't say enough about how great the whole thing was! I won't go anywhere else for my waxing needs from now on!

I was always scared to try a brazilian and when I did I found a great lady, then we moved to Houston. I have been to several in town where the people were rude and quite frankly seemed out to cause pain. Angelica is the opposite. Always smiling, always entertaining, and always always making sure I am confortable. I will never go anywhere else!!!!

If we ever move again I just may come back here just to see her!

I had to get my chest/back/arms/legs waxed after losing a bet, and as a first-time waxer I have to say I'm glad I went to The Wax Spot. I heard all sorts of horror stories from friends and coworkers about how much it was going to hurt...but it really wasn't that bad...and I'm a prettttty hairy Armenian guy (or at least I was)

Christie did an excellent job making sure I was comfortable the whole time, and made the time fly by for me and my audience (the "winners" of the bet) by joking around with us during the whole process

If there are any first-timers out there who are sitting on the fence about waxing, The Wax Spot is definitely a great place for you to get silky-smooth!

Christie did a great job in making me feel comfortable. She talks to you and tells you everything she is doing. The pain is lessened by her style and composure. I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone looking for waxing.

I have been getting Brazilian waxed for about 10 years and have been to several spas in search for that "perfect" waxing salon and finally I have found it! The Wax Spot is the perfect place. Angelica is so professional, thorough, and personable and knowledgeable. The first wax I have had that was almost pain free. The salon itself was clean and hip. I actually had a fun time and left feeling great. I will definitely be back. And will recommend this place to all my friends.

I have tried several different spas around town for waxing, and I think this is by far my favorite. Christie is so nice and did a wonderful job. She really went out of her way to make me comfortable and she always checks on you to make sure you're OK throughout the wax. I would recommend The Wax Spot to everyone!!

Christie, Angelica's sister, is a total doll. She also puts on a comedy sitcom show for you, which is a nice distraction and provides some laughs, but she is funny as all get out as well. Like everything else, this kind of service requires feedback. They constantly monitor how you're doing, whether the wax (blue and DEFINITELY LESS PAINFUL BY FAR!!) is too hot, whether you're satisfied with the outcome. And she asks several times, so if you leave unhappy it's your own fault! Great work, fantastic and easy location in the Heights just off the Boulevard, and super friendly people.

My first time to visit The Wax Spot I called on a saturday afternoon thinking it would be impossible to get me in the same day but they did! I've had many brazillians previously so I know they aren't pleasant but this experience was oddly less painful and the wax seemed just as effective. It was a very plesant surprise! Everyone was friendly and the 7 day touch up is a GREAT deal!! I will be going back.

The house the shop is in is cute and easy to get to, and the inside is darling. It's a clean, welcoming place from the moment you walk in the door. I was greeted by Angelica and her sister, a family run operation, and they were very friendly and helpful. I was on time to my appointment and was immediately taken to my room without any wait. Angelica worked dilligently and eased any nerves I may have had while carrying on plesant conversation. Obviously it's going to sting here and there but she uses techniques that make the experience as painless as it can be and wasn't over aggressive or rushing, as some places tend to be. Being new to the blue wax, I was unsure going in but I quickly found it was hands down far less painful than sugaring, which I was used to. Angelica worked at my pace, offering to slow down or take breaks whenever I needed. I could go on forever about what a stress-free experience this was, and I'll never go anywhere else. Thank you Wax Spot for everything! Waxing is no longer anything I dread, and I reccommend this experience to anyone that is interested especially new comers.

They use a wax that was the least painful of the wax places I've tried. I'm the type that has a LOW pain threshold and they accomadated me and made me feel comfortable. Great Job!

I went in to go get my eyebrows waxed and they did the best job I ever had. Everybody noticed it at work. They cleaned me up good. They are gentle and I made my appointment at the last minute and they sure did fit me in. I am going back for sure!!!!

This was my first Brazilian and I was a little nervous. I am so glad I chose The Wax Spot. They made me feel very comfortable and welcome. My biggest fear was how much it was going to hurt. I'm not going to lie, it did hurt a little, but not nearly as much as I expected. I had a great experience here and will definitely be going back.

Angelica made the whole experience of getting a wax so comforting. She cares about her clients and it shows. She definitely made me feel at ease. Angelica is a wonderful esthetician. She always happily goes the extra mile to work me in due to my very unpredictable work schedule.

Angelica had always done a fantastic job with all of the services that she's performed for me... Her "down to earth" personality made me feel at ease from the moment I walked in the door! It is like being at a friends house.

Living in the Heights, I couldnt ask for a better location! There is a "warmth" that comes from the 1920 era bungalow that you just cant get from a stip center.

Give the Wax Spot a try, you'll be glad you found it too!

I went in for a modified bikini wax, but Angelica convinced me to get my first brazilian! She was so professional and it was not painful at all. I moved to Houston from Los Angeles (where I had my regular spa). I was so thrilled when I read the reviews on citysearch, I would give Wax Spot a try. Christie was great -- knowing I was nervous. Its such a great private atmosphere. I highly recommend it -- and for those of you who have never tried waxing before... you better make sure its a place with a great reputation!!! (example here)

The feeling for a guy is unbelievable. I had to miss my last appointment because of work, Angelica was so nice about the missed appointment. I was anxious about getting back in the regular mode again. I never want to skip. It is so fast and easy to get a wax and keep your pubic area smooth.

The Wax is the only place I will ever go to get a wax again. The customer service was top knotch. I love the fact that a complimentary touch up included as a follow up. The atmosphere is very comforting. There were moments when I forgot that I was getting a wax. Don't get me wrong, it is not a completely painless process however the pain was very minimal compared to previous waxs.

I visited the Wax Spot because I am moving to the Heights in a few weeks. I was able to get an appointment the next day which was a Saturday. Me and my fiance walked in and were greeted by Angelica's sister. I went in for a brazilian which is never a fun experience, but the blue wax they use is awesome. The staff is very professional and they use techniques to decrease the pain associated with the waxing. They also offer a free 7-10 day touch up with their services which is almost unheard of anywhere else! That's awesome for those little stray hairs that don't show up until the next day! I am definitely a fan of the Wax Spot!!

With swimsuit weather here, I couldn't put off waxing any longer. My old place was just too far and too pricey to deal with. I found the Wax Spot through the Heights magazine and through this site. I am very pleased that I did. They are very professional and put you at ease immediately. Christie was wonderful and the results are fantastic. I have been going to Angela for 2 years from Wild on Wax to Skin Clinic to finally her own salon. She always plays great tv while you're there but she remembers customers and what you talk about each visit. For a shy person, this is probably the most comfortable experience you can have waxing. And it's almost painless, which Angela definitely strives for.

Christie was very friendly and made the experience easy. She kept the conversation going which helped distract me during the entire process. Though it was still painful, Christie helped ease the pain by applying pressure. It did seem far less painful than a previous wax I had gotten at another place. I was impressed from the moment I walked in. The Wax Spot has a very comfortable atmosphere and Christie and Angelica are so friendly and welcoming. They take their business seriously and are very professional at what they do. The new place is warm and inviting. Lots of good distracting conversation. The blue wax is by far easier to take. Recommend to all of those wanting to be hairless for extended periods of time. Never had a problem afterwards.
