I went into the store this past weekend to see the jewelry for myself and was stopped dead in my tracks at the door by the most amazing pave diamond ring with black coral. It not only called out to me, but my husband says it's all I have talked about since I got home. And the quality of the diamonds was tops! They showed me so many different items it was almost overwhelming. I simply had no idea that coral had so many different levels of quality. So now on my wish list is that amazing diamond ring that I am lusting after!

I LOVE jewelry, especially, REAL jewelry, and this place rocks! It literally has something for everyone, whether you want to spend $100 or $100,000. The best part is that each piece of black coral jewelry is authentic and carved from broken branches of black coral and is older than most of us. I like the the feeling of wearing something old around my neck to protect me and black jewelry is the hottest trend right now! The staff is really knowledgeable and not pretentious like at all the other stores on Rodeo. And yes, it's easy to park, a godsend in this town!

As an art enthusiast it was incredible to go into the PASSMAN Gallery and see the amazing sculptures done in black coral. The designer truly had a gift for working with black coral to make such elaborate and yet sometimes whimsical pieces. Knowing how rare and protected coral is now, it wasn't surprisng that the staff was very well-educated on the steps the Passman company took more than 30 years ago to protect the coral reefs in Grand Cayman and beyond. The jewelry ranged from small pendants and earrings to large one of a kind wonders that were for the rich and famous. But, I was impressed to see something for everyone in this gem of a store on Rodeo.

Pros: free parking in the garage under the store!

Cons: I have to save up for the sculpture I desperately want!

As a local, I avoid tourists and Rodeo Drive (because of tourists)! But my friend and I were out shopping and she insisted on lunch on the Via. After we walked down the cobblestone and were doing some general shopping when we found Bernard Passman's Gallery. At first we were a little skeptical because we couldn't tell what it was from the outside, but once through the door we discovered exquisite black coral jewelry! The nicest lady, Susan, greeted us and told us all about the coral and we tried on earrings to die for! I had no idea that some place so peaceful existed on Rodeo Drive! The customer service was impeccable and the gallery was so easy to move through and see everything. When you go, make sure to ask to see the dragon which breaths platinum and diamonds! Well we each purchased a pair of earrings, but as soon as I got home, I told my husband that I found the place he can buy me jewelry successfully and I will LOVE IT! I now have a reason to add Rodeo Drive to my shopping list when I'm out. Oh..and the parking is really easy as it's right below underground and we didn't even have to pay!

I've never written about anything before, but I just had the most incredible experience at Passman Gallery on Rodeo Drive. I not only learned all they did to protect our environment and the reefs, but discovered the stunning "gem quality" black coral. The staff explained in great detail the workmanship involved carving this coral which if you haven't seen, you MUST go see it! Sculptures and jewelry alike are breathtaking (and affordable). I went in to just see the museum (which they mentioned is the only one on Rodeo Drive) but had such an incredible time that I ended up buying a bracelet as a surprise to take home. I had always thought of coral as something you just see on the beach, but had no idea it took 100 years to grow a 1/4"! The piece I purchased stands to be at least a couple of hundred years old. Because of this I was expecting the prices to be way out of a normal persons reach, but I was so pleased to find that I could afford to bring home my own surprise.

If you have never seen the jewelry or the museum, then take some time for this fantastic experience. I went from killing time to a believer in this black coral!

Pros: Parking was easy, Shopping was simple, Staff is experienced and helpful

Cons: If you see it and like it. Buy it fast since they are pretty much all unique
