Tuscany Restaurant SLC - Mediocre, Average, Ordinary, Standard and common . We attended a group dinner for 50 and the entire experience was lacking . The event intended to have appetizers and drinks prior to dinner. The room was cramped and the activity of " cocktail hour " could not happen because of the size of the room. The food was cold and over cooked as a prefix meal ( Pork chop and baked breaded salmon ) . I ordered vegetarian ( in advance ) no creativity or thought was given to the dish. And, I guess that the Tuscany Chef thinks that vegetarian people don't eat protein . I did not eat my dish at all and went home hungry. No coffee was offered with dessert, and the dinner was rushed to an end with the dishes being cleared before everyone at the individual tables were done eating. With the holiday season coming soon. I would not recommend this spot for your party. This is our second visit to Tuscany and no improvement from our first visit was experienced.

I wanted to write a review because I really rely on tuscany as a great place to take my friends and/or associates from out of town. Everyone is impressed by the whole package. Highly recommended!

One of the most beautiful restaurants I've ever been in. Our waiter was perfect;
There when you want him to be, NOT when you don't (5th Anniversary). Even the bus
boy had a great demeanor. We had fantastic food; seared salmon and sweet potato
ravioli, a vast assortment of wines to select from (by the glass), and the check was
still less than 100 bones with tip. I wasn't so thrilled about the seemingly
mandatory valet but the rest of my experience at Tuscany made that part forgettable.

My husband and I wanted a romantic dinner for our third anniversary. The food was
amazing and our waiter was friendly and knowledgable. This was our second time to
visit Tuscany and we will dine there again! The port wine reduction was amazing and
the beef was perfectly cooked. My husband had the Lazagna, it was the best by far of
any we have ever tasted! The portions were just right and we felt was very affordable
for a special night out. I enjoy the romantic decor and ambiance. We did not feel
rushed and our server was perfect.

My experience was amazing. The overall quality of the restaurant was superb, starting
with the excellent customer service to the quality of the food. The place itself is
beautiful and makes you feel right at home the second you walk through the door. Our
waitress was very friendly and very responsive to anything we needed. I will be going
back there very soon!

The ambiance promotes romance and relaxation. The service was excellent. My husband accidentally splashed a little something on his shirt, and our waiter was there with club soda and a towel. He was attentive, but not intrusive. The wine list was excellent. My dinner was also very good. Highly recommend for a romantic night.

My wife and I recently had dinner at Tuscany. We had heard many things about Tuscany and where very excited about finally getting the chance to go to dinner there. The evening lived up to all of the expectations. From the moment we entered the mood was set for us to have a great evening. Our food was wonderful, we shared the risotto, and the pork chop. We had waited for so long because we thought it was a place we should save for that ?special? night. We realized that for the amount of food and the casual atmosphere we should eat here more often.

My family and I went there for my 23rd birthday. They accommodated our party of twelve just fine. The food and service we superb. I had no complaints. All though I didn't pay the bill I know that the main courses, the wine, the side dishes (no dessert because that was waiting at home, the cake) all added up really fast. The food is excellent and I enjoyed the atmosphere. Great for a getaway if you're tired of bland food and great to take friends and family.

I finally convinced my fiance to take me to Tuscany and he agrees, we waited way too long to visit. The ambiance of the restaurant is like no other in Salt Lake. I finally found my intimate, romantic restaurant in Utah! I thought it did not exist! Once we were seated in the room with the beautiful stained glass windows, we were pleasantly surprised by the price. We expected twice that much! The staff was very attentive, our food was delicious, the wine list was incredibly extensive, and we left Tuscany very satisfied and impressed. I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone!

I flew to Utah a few weeks ago for the weekend and was looking for a nice place to enjoy the evening. I always look for something unique to the area and Tuscany seemed perfect, however didn't know what a great experience I was in for. I pulled up to find a beautiful building, both inside and out. I was immediately greeted by a friendly manager and hostess who directed my friend and myself to our seats and handed us a menu and a wine list which extensiveness surprised us. We ordered from our waitress and asked if we could take a look around while we waited for our food. We walked around to find each room of the large restaurant beautifully decorated. We saw a wedding taking place outside and realized what beautiful gardens they had, covered in vines and lights. When we returned inside we were served a meal which was both beautiful and delicious. The flavors were just right. We finished our meal with a delicious chocolate cake. I usually don?t take the time to write reviews but I was so impressed with the friendly staff, beautiful setting, and delicious and unique food that I had to say something.

We liked the bread, salad and dessert ok but the entrees were horrible. The Risotto was really sweet and just didn't taste right. The lasagna was very greasy. For as much as they charge it was very dissappointing. We would be giving it one star but the staff was very good and the building is beautiful.

I recently attended a gorgeous outdoor wedding there and was so impressed! We were immediately directed to the ceremony area by a valet service, making it seem like the wedding was the only party in the entire restaurant, and took our seats. The ceremony started late (rumor has it that the bride was not ready yet) but the woman in charge was obviously handling everything very smoothly. We saw her all evening talking with the bride and groom and making sure everything was alright. After the ceremony, we moved five feet over to the reception area where we enjoyed drinks and then sat for a three course meal! The food was incredible and the serving staff was so attentive and friendly. Then, the serving staff passed champagne and cider for all the guests to toast the bride and groom. Definitely the best wedding I have been to all summer, and trust me, I have been to ALOT of weddings this summer! The patio was gorgeous with so many flowers and trees. The entire experience was something I will never forget!

The bathrooms in this restaurant are absolutely wonderful.

That is good, because shortly after trying food you will be visiting them.

I am pretty sure the valet stole my sunglasses.

The only good thing about this place is the valet!!! I went with my family to Tuscany for dinner on a weeknight. After we were seated it took 20 minutes before we even received water.... 20 minutes later we finally got our drink orders in. I ordered the pork chop.... it took an hour to finally get it! Really, the Village Inn on State St. makes a better pork chop (and for a fraction of the cost). The first one was too dry... almost a sandpaper consistency. I sent it back, the server IMMEDIATELY brought out another one (which means some poor sap at another table probably had to wait longer for his mediocre meat). This one was better, but still I've had better dishes served through a window at 3:00 A.M. from my car. My girlfriend ordered the Risotto, which was good but it came 30 minutes after EVERYONE ELSE AT THE TABLE had received and (half) consumed their meals.
Even the Creme Brule was awful... how do you screw that up????

I know that Tuscany used to be a respectable eating establishment... but you can only rely on your reputation for so long. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I came into Tuscany with several buddies after a hard day on the slopes at Snowbird. We had made a reservation earlier in the day and arrived early not realizing the restaurant was such a close distance to Little Cottonwood Canyon. We started with drinks in the bar and were treated like old friends by the bartender. She made it a hard decision to leave and go to our table because she was so friendly, but alas we are all married. The manager took us to our table by a huge rock fireplace and I wondered if we were actually in Florence, Italy or Salt Lake City. We ordered some appetizers and found the carpaccio to be perfectly rare and the fried calamari to be best we've had. It came with fried shrimp and green beans and was topped with a red pepper aioli that gave it a real zip! Our server recommended the Chicken Scallopini and a bunch of us opted for that and the juicy New York steak special. Both dishes satisfied our craving for Italian fare and beat out any steak we've tried coast to coast. The service was very attentive and quick considering the place was packed with hungry skiers and their families. A few of us had room left for dessert and got the fried bananas with homemade banana ice cream and the house specialty banana cream pie. I would recommend this restaurant for both its outstanding service and food that pleases both Italian food lovers and All-American palates.

Great food the salmon was divine. Great atmosphere, quiet and romantic lighting, a little pricey but well worth it. A heart shaped triple chocolate cake with fresh rasberries was best dessert I ever had. Service was very efficient and kind our waitress was very helpful in reccommending the best choices on the menu and did not lead us astray.

When they only thing you can find to recommend a "fine dining" establishment is the appetizer pizza, that's pretty sad. Ok. The setting is beautiful. The service was horrible -- it took 20 minutes every time to get our server's attention. And the main courses were atrocious. Maybe it was our fault for ordering beef and pork instead of pasta. They were just not good. They tasted bad. My husband and I are both very open minded when it comes to food but there was simply nothing to recommend this restaurant. There are enough other fine dining places in SLC that are good to excellent (Tiburon, LaCaille, Snake River, etc). We won't be going back and wasting our money at Tuscany.

I made reservations for February 11th, so that my wife and I wouldn't have to be crammed in with a million other couples on Valentine's Day. We were seated at a small table at the edge of an entryway, and I sat between two rooms. I could hear conversations from both rooms and they drowned out my wife's voice. After waiting for 15 minutes without any service we left.

We were met with a cold reception, and felt that our money wasn't good enough. The place was half empty, but no one bothered to let us know they were backed up or someone was going to help us eventually. The only person that was nice was the valet, a 16 year old kid who probably only made minimum wage.

This by far the best restaurent i have been for special occasions. i have been to Ruth chris and le caille all of the sucked. If you are looking for perfect dinner with your wife, friend or family this is the place to go. It's little pricy but its worth it as compared to Ruth Chris and La Caille. Sometimes the place may get little noisy but request for a quiter place, they will definetly accomodate your request. Me and wife are regulars here after trying so many places we decided this to be our special dinner spot.
Don't forget to call ahead.
They also opend a French restaurnet adjacent to Tuscany. Havent tried yet will put my comments once i dine there. Planning to go there this vallentine day.

My personal favourite is the Pork chops and salamon

We decided to go to Tuscany for Thanksgiving dinner but it was a disaster. The service was fine but the meal was terrible. We got just a couple scraps of Turkey and a slice of ham and the rest was stuffing, mashed potatoes (I think it was potatoes ? they sucked) and squash. The stuffing was horrible. We have always had good food at Tuscany but Thanksgiving was a total disaster for quality of the food. Way overpriced for the quality. Will not do that again.

We had our wedding at Tuscany on 9/29/07 and it was wonderful. The setting is very romantic and pretty. The service was very good and the wait staff were attentive and friendly. The food was okay. We had a choice of pork, salmon and chicken. The pork was the best by far. The chicken and fish were a little bland. We had a nice salad and nice chocolate cake as well. All in all we liked it.

But, there are some "hidden" fees that were not really explained to us. There is a $300 wedding fee in addition to the rental of the room. Also, I thought that the events coordinator was a little snotty and off putting. Also, when I got the bill there was an overcharge of $300. So, watch the bill.

Overall it was a good experience and I am glad that I choose Tuscany but there were some small hiccups here and there (i.e., the turned on the background music in the middle of our ceremony and we had to send someone to turn it off!!!).

I still recommend it but it was not a flawless experience!

One year ago I came here for our dinner for Homecoming for Brighton High School. It was a group of 20 that I was in. We had made reservations and were given a smaller menu beforehand to choose what we wanted to eat and a set price per couple.
We ended up being seated in some basement room far away from anybody else or the elegance of the restaurant. The service was good. The food was not near the quality it should have been considering the amount we paid. And within the next few days, many member of our group that had ordered a certain dish got sick from it. This should never happen from a restaurant as nice and as well-reputed as this one.
Then, when it came time to pay, they told us that we had to pay about $5 more than what we were told we would pay by the manager. Even when we told the waitress this, she shot us down and said her price was right. Later, I found out that the didn't even charge everybody the same amount. I was charged the original price, while most of my friends had to pay the higher price.
I will never come here again and do not recommend it.

Tuscany appears to be cutting corners as evidenced by the wilted brown salad, dirty glasses and flies. Fine dining and flies do not mix and neither did the flavors of the food. Lunch was costly but for fine food we are willing to pay. Unfortunately, the several billboards around the valley touting Tuscany as an unforgettable experience are true. I will never forget the brown, slimy, wilted salad and the stale brushetta appetizers which tasted day old. Main courses were tastless and the pasta with wine reduction was acidic and biting. The Venetian beef red wine sauce was tart and was not complimented by the Gorganzola Polenta. The most disturbing part of the meal were the several flies which enjoyed our bread and appetizers more than we did. Fine dining is an art and Tuscany is still using crayons. The food was bad, the service was slow and inattentive. The vegetables tasted old including the tomatos which are in season. My house salad was the worst resembling something from a fast food dive. Owner Mark Eaton was a defensive specialist on the court, but his food was offensive and scored no points. His ads are correct unforgettable and very regrettable.

I am young and moved to Salt Lake City in my youth. Though I spent many years growing up in Salt Lake I missed the better cuisine and atmosphere from larger cities where I had lived previously. It is no surprise that many people in Utah do not appreciate the fine dining at Tuscany because many people are not accustomed to their slightly different fare. I have been there on several different occasions and was always seated downstairs, in an excellent spot when i had reservations. The service, in my experience, was excellent and it is too bad other people have had a different experience with it. There simple but delicious thin crust heartbread has always been my favorite before my meal. Their salads are better than usual and generally enjoy their hearts of romaine Ceaser. Their wood oven roasted chicken always tastes like it was pulled right out of a wood stove. I appreciate the experience when I go. There are not many places in Utah that offer valet so I know it's unsettling for some people. The main thing to realize when going to Tuscany is that it is not the Olive Garden or Italian Village. Yes, it is expensive and the portion sizes are smaller than you would receive at one of those restaurants but this is fine dining; not your local Italian chain joint. For those with bad experiences, maybe give it a second try. For those who don't understand the prices and portion sizes then you probably have not been out of Utah often. Dishes like the chicken and halibut are of adequate, what I would consider generous, sizes. This is not Burger King so do not expect to get a Quad-Stacker sized cheeseburger. Acclimate yourself to a little culture and try to have a broader perspective of what a dining experience sometimes is.

Pros: Great place to dine around Salt Lake City

We went to Tuscany on a Saturday night and were seated in the boonies - upstairs and perhaps way too far from the bar? In any event, we ordered a bottle of Pinot Noir and had to send it back because it was undrinkable. We did not get a wine list until we were already into our appetizers. When the waitress finally took our orders we were on our salads and did not get served our 2 glasses of wine until we were on our entrees. Given that we are wine drinkers, this was completely irritating and practically ruined our meal. The appetizer of smoked salmon on hearthbread was delicious, the ceaser salads mediocre. My husband's pork chop was outstanding, but my chicken scallopine was smothered in a sauce that was so rich it actually made my stomach turn.

The valet parking does have a problem: THE VALETS DON'T GET TO KEEP THEIR TIPS. These kids don't see a dime of whatever you give them, so don't do the restaurant any more favors- you're already paying $30 a plate.

Just average and pricey...$17.95 for Lasagne, come on, $34.95 for a New York strip? Where am I? Manhatten? I don't think so. Limited wine list. I ordered wine by the glass....not by the half glass which is what I got. Overall you could do much better in SLC than Tuscany for Italian fare. Cigar and cigarette smoke wafts into the dining area from the bar.

The parking is terrible. It is by valet only! I'm from out of town and learned the hard way. Over $100.00 for dinner, and over $500.00 for valet parking.

If you want romance and fine dining - this is the place! Beautiful atmosphere - tantalizing food - amazing service - a true touch of elegance in our city. I would recommend The Tuscany if you want to impress your significant other or relatives or co-workers.

We've eaten at Tuscany at least once a year for upwards of 7 years now. It was always a great place for special occasions and to impress out of town guests. Unfortunately over that last few years (since about 2004) the quality of both food and service have steadily declined. Our last visit was for a wedding anniversary and the food was terrible. Their classic ravioli (which was better when it was tortellini) now comes in a barely palatable mushroom sauce. Their crusted salmon, once a safe bet, was served smelling unusually fishy (not fresh) and was the worst salmon I've been served in years - I felt like I was eating in a hotel restaurant. The waitress was good, but the supplemental service was terrible. The individuals who brought the food and filled the water ranged from terse to outright grumpy. The only highlights were the wine, which was excellent as usual, and the tiramisu, which was superb. It's sad to say, but after close to a decade of patronage I think we'll be saving our money and eating somewhere else next time.

We first visited Tuscany based on the recommendations of friends from a different part of the country. Unlike the countless chain restaurants in this area, Tuscany is much more like restaurants we've been accustomed to in major metropolitan areas. If you're looking for the typical SLC dining experience, don't go to Tuscany. If you're looking for good food with great atmosphere, you should try Tuscany. We are definitely repeat customers!

After easting at tuscany a few times a year for 7+ years, I have never had anything bad to say about it. The setting and ambiance are wonderful - outside dining in the summer is very nice. The wine list is usually pretty good, well varied, and reasonably priced (by both bottle and glass). It's the only restaurant in town that i've been able to order the delightful hungarian dessert wine, Tokaji Aszu (some time ago though). The food ranges from good to excellent. It's always above average, and well presented, but i've yet to experience a knock-out dish. The higher prices are just off the top tier, making it a pretty good value overall. The menu is varied enough that with a little effort, alot you can get in and out rather inexpensively.

I recently dined at Tuscany for Valentines Day, as I had heard that the atmosphere was amazing. Having read the reviews, I did not expect much from the kitchen. I was soundly surprised by the wonderful dishes we enjoyed that evening. Our waiter was very helpful, and very fun. The Pork Chop is incredibly delicious, and is worth the price of the entire meal by itself. The appetizers were great, and I loved the Gelato and Cake for dessert. I will definitely be back!

I have visited Tuscany twice. I would rate the atmosphere as top notch, but have not been overly impressed with the food. The menu offers some dishes that may not be available everywhere else, but the quality/taste has never really impressed me for the price and all the hype. Service on my last visit was slowwwwww (several Holiday parties, but I still should not expect to wait a full 3o minutes to give a drink order). Overall a nice place, but still has room for improvement

I was glad to be back at Tuscany and looking forward to an exceptional dining experience. We were promptly seated- our hostess was kind. Our waitress was exceptional! Had I not known she was still in training, I wouldn't have guessed. Our appetizers were prompt and delicious. My husbands pork chops were tasty, although the plating and presentation left something to be desired. My lamb shank was average. I've had better. The other couples we came with all enjoyed their meals and the kitchen was very accommodating regarding special preferences and food allergies. At 10:15 a very boorish valet stood at the end of the table. We all looked at him as he produced a wad of keys and asked Are any of these yours? Not the best way to top off the evening. Overall, Id give Tuscany a fair rating today. I hope my next experience is better.

This review is a waste of time - because CitySearch will never print it, this is the second time I've submitted it and this is not the first time this has happened. This place has nothing going for it except the ground and who can eat those. Reading other reviews, I get the feeling that my experience is more of the norm despite their high rating and popularity. Why do I bother, I was taken there and next time I will decline regardless if I appear a snob. Who cares, I'll never set foot in this place again!!!!

I visited tuscany recently and had a $35 steak that was advertised as a Prime steak. The steak was cooked right, but was incredibly tough and had no flavor. It was obviously not a high grade of meat. The service was very poor, and we felt ignored. Also their pricing has gone up while quality has deteriorated.

It took a very long time to be waited on. They were out of the tortellini the reason I wanted to go (I was 7 1/2 months pregnant) the waiter told me he would recommend me the steak "Because I LOOKED like a steak eater." I dont know who was more upset by the comment my husband or me. I ordered a chicken dish, got the wrong one. Then the server argued with me and my husband insisted it was what I ordered, and finally took it back. When I got my meal twenty minutes after my husband was done with his, it was cold and gross and I didn't eat it. The manager wouldn't take it off our bill! However, he said on our next visit he would comp me the tortellini I was craving so much. We will never be going back to get it.

Personally I like to valet park when I go out to dine. The service was polite, but ackward. I was asked to order my entree before I even saw the wine list. I can't speak badly...I just didn't feel like the service measured up to the prices. The food was average. I'd rather have stayed home and cooked. When I dine I want to enjoy something beyond my culinary abilities.

Very disappointing. I guess for a Salt Lake restaurant it's decent. It was our anniversary and we wanted a romantic night out. We were seated next to a table of 20 teens who had cell phones that never stopped ringing. The food was "good" but nothing that would keep me wanting to go back for more.

I was dining at Tuscany and had a fantastic experience. From the incredible decor to the fine dining service, you can't go wrong. The food is definetly a value for the quality that you receive. What I love most is the open kitchen. It adds entertainment value to the experience. The Camamari and Carpaccio are my favorite appetizers. It is a great place to bring a first date on a Friday night. Best Martinis in town, in a very unique bar setting. Try the Cajun martini the best!!!

I went to tuscay for a big fancy group party. the waitress brought me the wrong dish which was fish! I don't eat fish, she refused to bring the right meal. Plus still gave herself a 30% tip. I called management they didn't do anything about it.

Last night I made a terrible mistake when deciding where to dine in celebration of my Wedding Anniversary. I chose Tuscany. First, our reservations were made for 7:30 pm, we weren't seated until almost 8:00 pm. Then, it took 20 minutes to get drinks, and an hour and a half to receive our entrees. Finally, our food arrives, my wife and I were hoping our patience would pay off. Wrong! My over priced entree was the size of my fist and my wife's entree wasn't even edible. After my wife and I finished sharing the worlds smallest entrees, we left and will never return. The moral of this story is simple. If you want a night to be special and perfect, don't go to Tuscany for dinner. You could receive similar service and food at your local Chinese Buffet for a fraction of the price!

My family dined there a few weeks ago. Staff wouldn't even slide two tables together for us, had to do it ourselves with servers looking down their noses at us, like we were doing them some sort of favor. Mom, celebrating her birthday, was served last. (uh, HELLO servers! Ladies first, oldest to youngest!) I tried Tuscany 3 times when they first opened. I just kept thinking, "It wasn't really THAT bad, was it?" Guess what? It was. Not worth the price, valets have no clue, bummed I missed the cat - of course, the cat probably went over to the Cotton Bottom, better leftovers.

I had heard mixed reviews about Tuscany before trying it. I am surprised now that they were mixed. The food was served cold. The feeling was as I if we were doing them a favor going to their restaurant. The food was borderline bland. Nothing was good about the whole experience. I have never felt so unwelcome and so cheated in a restaurant in my life. I have been to less expensive restaurants and had far better experiences and more expensive restaurants and felt like I've gotten much more for my money. I would not go back.

I've eaten at Tuscany many times, but the last time, which will be the last time for now was on December 24th. Poor service, lax attitudes and a waitperson with a voice that puts a dumb blonde in genius category. Gads what a letdown. The food has deteriorated along with the service. Not what I would spend over a $100.00 on three for. Tasteless, boring and service that makes you wonder, on several occasions, if they forgot about you. They did. Better buck up Tuscany, there's a lot of better places to eat now.
