Frankly, I'm shocked at the negative reviews of this place. My husband and I both think South Bay Toyota is the best car dealership we've ever dealt with -- and we checked out a dozen or so places before we settled on them. Patrick Peters was absolutely phenomenal when we bought our two cars through him. He talked to us honestly and fairly, and there was none of the misogynistic nonsense that so often crops up when a woman buys a car in LA. We'll be buying another car soon, and we wouldn't consider going anywhere else.

Since we bought, back in 2005-6, we have had all our service work done there, and the service department (Dwayne & Harold are who we've dealt with) has been equally terrific. If I could give them 10 stars, I'd do it. A great place, especially if you're a woman looking to buy a car.

I've been a loyal customer to this place for 8+ yrs. I bought two cars from this place before and went there for the maintainence services(both minor and mojor maintainence) ever since I bought my cars from them. I was happy with their service at the beginning but in the past year or so, I am totally dissapointed with their services.

My car had an oil change service last year. They rotated the tire but didn't make sure the hub caps were putted back firmly. One of the hub caps lose on the way back home. I went back to them later but they refuse to be responsible for it. They said the hub cap was old so it could fall off easily. I ended up spending $80+ to buy a new hub cap from them.

Since then, I thought I should give them a 2nd chance. Went back for another oil change later (about 6 months from the time I write this review) and the service was ok. However, I went there for oil change today, when I got my car back, one of the hub caps was GONE!!! And it was the new one that I bought earlier. I am pretty sure when I dropped off the car, all the hub caps were there. I picked up my car at around 6pm and the technician named Sean who took care of my car was gone at 5pm, so I had to talk to the only available staff there. His attitude was REALLY RUDE. He made it sounds like if I am trying to take advantage of them. He said "we are not responsible for it and we are not going to give you back a new cap. I don't think I should continue talking to you" He then gave me Sean's number and tell me to go back the next day. Hey, not everyone has time to go over there any time they want. I need to go to work as well.

Their service attitude is EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING!!!! and I even suspect their honesty. Every time there's a problem, their first reaction is always "not our fault. We are not responsible for it".

If the rating scale has 0 star as an option, I would have given 0 to them. People, if you want a honest and reliable auto service, this is definitly NOT the place to go. I was once a loyal customer and now I've decided that I will NEVER go back again.

I bought a car from southbay toyota 2 yrs ago and the CD player broke. Went back for to ask for warranty replacement. They said they are not responsible for it and will not fix it for me. I will have to pay $200 just to get it fixed or $500 for a new one, and it's just a regular CD player and it will take at least a month to have it fixed. I ended up getting a brand new MP3 player installed at other electronic store on the same day. They are really sucks!! and the service manager's attitude was very unfriendly.

I also had the same experience as one of the other reviewer. They told me that my car need to fix some parts but I took my car to another autoshop and found there was no problem at all.

DON'T GO THERE!!! They are DISHONEST. They just want your money w/o giving you the service you paid for.

They are the crappiest dealer and auto I ever had.

Provides excellent service on my vehicle. The can be trusted to do the job right and have quality at the top of their list. Cars are very reasonably priced. They will give you the best deal possible if you know how to wheel and deal. My sister bought her car there last year and they worked out a great deal. After having drooled upon the Toyota Camry for months, South Bay Toyota finally had an advertisment out in the local paper offering a Camry at an incredibly low offer. I rushed to the car buying 'mecca' and quickly purchased the car - I was out in less than 40 minutes!

No fish and bait haggling or anything. The gentlemen who helped me was very kind and I've been taking my car there for maintenance ever since.

Before rushing to any car dealer, though, check out the LA Times car section first!

An old friend of mine used to work at the South Bay Toyota for a few years before he moved out of state with his family. This is a pretty good dealership with a good sized lot of vehicles. What is even greater about them too is that I was told by my friend that they donate to local youth organizations as well which is impressive to me for a car dealership.
