My boyfriend took me here one night after raving about it for months and now I am the one asking to go back. They got me hooked with their mozzarella wrapped prosciutto appetizer. It melts in your mouth and I wish I could eat it every day. I had their filet oscar, topped with crab. Anytime you can have crab put on steak, I am a fan. This steak was incredible though, even without the crab and is probably some of the most tender steak I've eaten in my life. My only complaint is that they spread the waitstaff a little thin, but otherwise a great experience.
My boyfriend and I visited this place while we were in Vegas because he loved the one in Chicago. We went in with high hopes, but we were disappointed. We had cocktail shrimp, lobster crab cake, french onion soup, the halibut special, ahi tuna, and the chocolate cake. Everything tasted bland and dry except for the soup (way too salty though)... We loved the atmosphere, the friendly waiter (who came and refilled our lemonade and ice tea free of charge 5 times!!), and the big portion of food. But, we probably won't come back since the food is not that great... =(
At the Capital Grille in the Fashion Show Mall, third floor, you can lunch or sup in an almost men's club atmosphere, lots of wood, large chandeliers, and wonderful food. You can spend a little or a lot, how flush do you feel. The service, food and atmosphere are all first class.
I had some family in from out of town (first time the had been to Vegas) and took them to the Capital Grill. Food was EXCELLENT! The filet mignon melted in your mouth, and the mac n cheese was delicious. Excellent view of the strip, so it was great for my guests. I probably wouldn't have ordered the lettuce wedge (which was excellent) but turned out to be too much food. Everyone had a great time and I look forward to going back.
Capital Grille is a good choice for people wanting to avoid the clang of slot machines at casinos. The restaurant is in Fashion Show mall north of TI.The decor is pleasant but not overly distinctive.Service is very pleasant but a bit spotty at times. The steaks are perectly cooked to order and are delicious. The selections of wines by the glass is excellent.Side dished come in generous portions. In all, I rate Capital Grille but a half step below Charlie Palmer.Worth a visit if you are staying at Mirage or TI.
Still the best steak I have ever had every time I go there and I have been to a lot of fine dining steak houses. Maybe I am just lucky but they get it perfect every time and everyone I have recommended it it to agrees with me. i will say however, that I have been to a few different Capital Grilles in the U.S. and Vegas is the only one that deserves such praise.
The problem here is that they price themselves similar to Bradley Ogdon, Delmonico's, Rosemary's, Andre's, etc; but they are a large chain restaurant, and simply cannot deliver the expected level of service and quality of food. There was nothing 'wrong' with the service or our meal. But when all the steaks, a la carte, are $43 or more, my expectations rise higher than what a chain steak house can deliver. We chose this place because of its proximity to TI (where our friend was coming from) and because they had plenty of available reservations last minute on a Sat night. There were 3 adults & a toddler in our party--I called ahead of time to assure that they had highchairs and that it would be ok to bring the toddler. Surprisingly, we were given a prime table in the corner with views up and down the strip--and the tables are separated from each other by a good deal of distance. The ambience was very good---great views, not too loud, comfortable. The server was very nice, but again, with prices like these I expect to be coddled--and I wouldn't say it went that far. The service was not at all comparable to Bradley Ogdon's. There is a large wine list with the menu, then they give you another wine list, but then you have to ask for the list that includes wine by the glass (only one in our party ordering wine--seems obvious it would have been offered) I had to ask if they had kids options---they do. Ultimately we ordered the Delmonico porcini rubbed The steak was nicely cooked, very lightly sauced/spiced, and too expensive. The lobster bisque had large chunks of lobster in it. The chopped salad and spinach salad were both very good. The lobster mac had big chunks of lobster as well. My cocktail was delish and sufficiently boozy. For desert we had ice cream with strawberries topped with grand marnier. Very good. Altogether, it was a good meal. But for that amount of $, I'm going to Andres or Rosemarys or..\r
Needs a slightly bigger menu and lower prices.
Pros: nice view, easy parking, comfortable and not too loud
Cons: way overpriced, menu is limited
What? You want more? That's it!!! This place is a hackneyed steak/chophouse. Go back to your old haunt, hug the maitre'd and order a round for the house. I'd almost quit my job if my boss makes me eat here one more time. And I attended an Ivy and this ain't like the Stacks at Columbia. Trust me.
Pros: You might catch G Dub here for an autograph in his impending retirement, the wine selection is pleasant
Cons: You might catch G Dub here for an autograph in his impending retirement
If you are looking for a great strip location for Steak and atmosphere, this is the place. Combining aged steak with exceptional service and a wonderful view of the strip are the highlights of this location.
Pros: Service, steak quality and taste, location
GREGORY ALAN WHEELER TIMMS CREATOR AND OWNER OF THE CAPITAL GRILLE SCORES WITH ANOTHER TOP NOTCH RESTAURANT!
Dined here on several occasions. Good atmosphere, good steaks but not great. Last time our steaks were overcooked. However, the service and staff is good. If you want to be near the strip with a good view this is a great option. However, for these prices, the consistency in quality is important.
Amazing steaks and an wonderful wine list. The food and service is amazing. You should definitely try this place out. The lobster mac and cheese was amazing. Great restaurant!
Pros: Steak and wine list
We had a department/business luncheon here. Staff was extremely helpful in helping us set everthing up, but nothing was over the top. I guess if you are so accustomed to everything in Vegas being ""over the top,"" this is somewhat of a let down. Food was good, but nothing spectacular. Pretty large wine selection. Nice business atmosphere. I was told by coworkers that they like coming here and sitting at the bar and getting the appetizers - our menu was already planned out, so maybe the selection they served that day was why it felt so ""average."" I would give it a second chance though.
Cons: just "average"
We had reservations and the hostess was friendly and helpful. Our server seemed very to be well educated about the menu. The wine list was decent, nothing spectacular. We had a dry aged steak and it was good, well seasoned. Our side dishes were bland and seemed to be sitting for quite sometime, just didn't taste fresh. We also had the shrimp, it was awful, everything on the plate seemed to be over cooked. I have been to The Capital Grille in Phoenix and Scottsdale and it seems like the Vegas location isn't on the same page with the food. I will not return to The Capital Grille in Vegas.
Cons: food, parking
We dined at the Capital Grille on a recommendation. The suggestion was great!! We walked in and were at once wisked to our table that was directly overlooking the strip. Our server greated us in a matter of seconds. Offered wine and appetizers, we did both. Our steaks and lobster were cooked to perfection. The coconut cream pie was heavenly and our hand made cappucinos were delish! I woudl recommend that everyone try the Capital Grille. It's a 10!!
A friend of ours recommended the Capital Grille at the Fashion Show Mall and proceeded to make the reservations after some deliberating. Delmonico's was put on hold this trip and we were to base our choice upon our friend's previous experience.
The appetizers were spectacular. I highly recommend the lobster and crab cakes, the server was kind enough to ask the chef to prepare 8 mini cakes for the seven of us instead of the standard 2 cakes per order. The deserts were also outstanding, cheesecake sent straight from heaven: not too rich, perfect crust, light and fluffy. Now the steaks were disappointingly average. After my best steak experience at 555 East less than a month ago, the filet mignon was missing something. The steaks require a bit more attention.
Overall, the restaurant is recommended. The service is excellent, as are the majority of the items on the menu.
Pros: Service, View, Ambience
The food, drink and view were all excellent unfortunately they were overshadowed by the poor excuse for service. Not service concerning promptness but rather the attitude of the servers. If you want to be treated rudely I would strongly recommend the Capital Grille. Could have been a bad evening, things happen, however in our paarties opinion it was inexcusable and tainted our special occasion.
My friend and I went for dinner at the Capital grill from the recomendation of our limo driver. Having dined at other locations, we expected a truely quality experience, and it did NOT pay out. We waited for our table for over half a hour, my steak was thoroughly overdone, all of our order was never delivered to the table, and there was a fiasco with a lobster I won't even bother explaining! Management was very good about appeasing us after the evening was thoroughly damaged.
After watching a show at the MGM Grand we stopped here for a meal. The porter house was so deliscious I ordered one to go. The service was good. The steak was excellent. I would recommend this restaurant to all of my friends. The wine selection was great.
Pros: Steak, Service
Ate there last night on a busy night, party of five. Service and operations were incompetent. the meal took almost four hours, with us speeding them for a check at the end. Two hours in we got our salads. When the steaks finally arrived, all were way overcooked. One porterhouse appeared ok, another had obviously been cut in half to make two servings. the waitstaff was attentive but clueless. No vegetables ever arrived. They finally arrived after dessert had beenoffered and the steaks cleared. Bad management makes for bad experience. Favorite place in denver. Skip it in Vegas.
Cons: , incompent kitchen, incompentent manageme
