I have been with Bank One since I was a teenager. I joined because that is where my parents have been banking for years. My car loan is through them and I have a checking and a savings account with them. I have never missed a car payment and I have never overdrawn my account till recently.
I started a new job and my company messed up my direct deposit information by inputting one digit wrong. Therefore the day my deposit was due to go in it never came. I had to pay rent that day as well as I had some others things scheduled to come out due to expecting this check. My employer told me they messed it up and that they could cut me a check the following week. Because of this I ended up in over a hundred dollars of overdraft fees. All my coworkers and other people I talked to told me to call my bank and let them know what happened and they should waive the fees since it wasn't my fault and this is the first time it has happened. They said their banks have done it for them before they just had to ask. I called the 1-800 customer service number and was told no they would not be able to do anything. I also personally went into the branch and spoke with the manager and was told the same thing. People could not believe it when I told them. The director of my area even personally wrote a letter for me to give the bank and it was still a no go. My company did cut me a check for the overdraft fees but I still felt Bank One should have given me a one time waive of the fees since this had never happened before. I am in the process of changing banks and the one I am switching to said they would have waived the fees if I were with them.
