5 Stars: Honda of El Cerrito Service (by Glenn H.)

I had a pleasant time at Honda of El Cerrito dealership when I went there to buy my 2008 Civic Coupe. Honda of El Cerrito stocks the entire inventory of Honda vehicles and the staff is charming, enthusiastic and well-informed about cars. I wrote about my experience at the dealership in my college courses. My friends also visited the store and were equally satisfied with the dealerships services.

5 Stars: Honda of El Cerrito (by Christian F.)

A month ago, I came across the dealership website of Honda of El Cerrito and was greatly overwhelmed by the deals offered on purchase of Honda products for online customers. Ordering Honda parts or setting up a service appointment takes just a few seconds on the Honda of El Cerrito website. And the dealer updates all features quite frequently. I am a regular visitor of this site now.

4 Stars: Internet sales =) and great people (by Eli A.)

I waited as long as I could to buy a car (mine is 18 years old and having issues). My previous new car buying experience was not pleasant (very aggressive sales guy, too pushy, too many extras they wanted to sell, etc) so I was prepared for another difficult transaction. The main difference between my buying experience this time from 18 years ago is (drum roll, please) the Internet. I did my homework to get pricing, what people have paid in this area for the car I was looking for and read reviews of the local dealers as well. Once I narrowed down what I thought I wanted I sent out via edmunds.com for dealer quotes. One dealership was extremely slow in their responses. One was too pushy right away and defensive of their pricing (Berkeley Honda). One guy (Jong Paek at El Cerrito Honda) sent a clearly explained quote, what the final price would include and availability. Simple, clean, easy. After a few messages back and forth we set a meeting time, I went in, did a testdrive and bought it. I felt that he was respectful, knowledgeable and helpful. The finance person (Mike Bushel) was also much nicer than I expected (the finance guy in my experience is usually the hard-sell one who is trying to sell you everything and the kitchen sink without regard to what you might need or want). He presented the options with a great sense of humor that made it almost fun. I already knew what I was willing to pay and what features I wanted/needed so it wasn't too difficult to sit through the presentation, sign all the papers and be on my way. I am pleased so far with this buying experience and would recommend this dealership to anyone who is looking to buy a Honda. El Cerrito Honda was recommended to me by a friend who bought her car there several years ago and still goes there for service.

4 Stars: New and Certified Pre-owned car dealership at El Cerrito (by Carbrey J.)

The New Vehicle Inventory section on the website is marvelous! You do not have to even think of visiting the dealership to look at the new Honda cars. All the details, including technical specifications with virtual brochure, are available on the site. I just visited the new inventory section, filled out the required details and wow! The all-new Honda Civic Coupe was all mine.

4 Stars: Honda of El Cerrito (by Benjamin J.)

When I started hunting for a pre-owned Honda Civic, one of my friends suggested that I check out the pre-owned inventory of Honda of El Cerrito. I consider myself lucky as I was able to find my favorite car at the click of a mouse and without any hassles. Thanks a ton Honda El Cerrito.

4 Stars: Honda of El Cerrito –Car dealership at at El Cerrito, California (CA) (by Bentley B.)

Thanks to the internet, I placed a search for a Honda Accord and had it waiting in my driveway within a week. All I did was go to the Honda of El Cerrito dealership and fill a simple form. Their sales person calls and starts giving me options. I go to the showroom and pick up my car. It was that simple! Just wanted to let you guys know that it was great getting the car from you. Thanks!

5 Stars: El Cerrito Honda (by kathy s.)

I just purchased a car two days ago from El Cerrito Honda. I had such an unusually good car buying experience, I feel compelled to write about the salesperson I worked with. Her name is Sylvia. If you are thinking of buying a Honda she is wonderful. She was informative, professional and honest. I never felt pressured. I will buy my next honda from her. Feel free to e-mail me about El Cerrito. I thought they were great and I love my car.

1 Stars: Buyers Beware....... (by sonya r.)

I went there, seeing the signs off the freeway. I didn't even get out of my car before a saleswoman (Carol) jumped me in the parking lot. I really did not like this approach.

I really just wanted to look at the cars, but thats not an option here, you are watched like a hawk, and then before you can leave, they make sure some manager comes and tries to talk you in to buying a car.

It turns out one of my friends had bought a car thru the Internet Department thru a woman ( I can't remember her name) so I thought ok, I'll give it a try.....well I've since found out she is no longer there, and who do I get an email response from, but this Carol person who jumped me in the parking lot.......no thank you, I'll try Oakland Honda, I've heard good things about them.....can't be any worse.

1 Stars: Terrible Service!!! (by katlyn k.)

If there was a negative Star I would definitely select it! I had a very very very bad experience there. I've been in communication with who I assumed to be a sales rep-Raymond Marks. I was in communication with him, he said his dealership has a lot of hondas and they have the one i wanted-Black, SE/V6. I was lured to the dealership thinking that there is the BLACK SE/V6 ACCORD. When I got there, they asked me again, what car do am I looking for?I was being tossed back and forth with 3 different sales people asking the same questions-what kind of car are you looking for? Meet with the meanest SALES MGER (RICK) on the planet!!! He came out and yelled at me because there was a confusion between his staff! . I ended up going to Berkeley Honda, got a much better service and better deal!!!! =P BOO, BOO, for EL CERRITO honda!

1 Stars: I guess I'm out-voted. (by Adinah C.)

I had a really bad experience here, shopping for a used car. I didn't know much about cars, and had actually never bought one from a dealer, so as I was walking around, looking, I was kind of thinking aloud. I had a pretty clear idea of what I was looking for, but I was open to other suggestions if they would have made sense. The salesman there was downright rude to me-- I wanted something in the $14,000 range (so of course, you have to ask for $13,000) and he acted like there was no way to get what I wanted. I wanted a car older than '04, with relatively low mileage, and something like a Civic. I also was interested in looking at a used Toyota Prius. Well, we went by the Honda Civic, and it was the luxury model; I turned to my friend and remarked, "I don't need all the fancy stuff" and he jumped in with, "Well, if you're looking for a used car, you can't always get what you want. If you want a new car, then we can order whatever you want, however you want it, but if you want a used car, we can only offer you what we have!" He basically snapped at me. I understand what he was saying is true; however, I'm not allowed to have opinions on the cars? He even rolled his eyes at me at one point. I had loan papers in my hand, so I was not out to waste his time. He was just plain unhelpful and rude-- I have never been treated like such crap by someone to whom I was trying to give such a large amount of money. I ended up buying from Concord Toyota instead.

4 Stars: Great service! (by Mark N.)

I always take my car to Honda of El Cerrito for oil changes and maintenance services. Their mechanics are very knowledgeable and the staff are very friendly. They take appointments too so you can avoid unnecessary waiting. They also provide a shuttle service in case the service for your car will take several hours to complete.

5 Stars: Excellent and fast service! (by Vanessa K.)

We bought a Honda Odyssey about a year ago and have been taking it in for service ever since. The service department is fantastic, they always are friendly and welcoming, and they can usually make same or next day appointments. The service is fast and they offer complimentary donuts and coffee, as well as a courtesy shuttle in case your car will take longer than an hour or two.

5 Stars: Doncha hate car repair places? Well, here's one you can love! (by Jennifer C.)

Most car repair places seem to be somewhat ethically challenged. I have never driven away from one in my bright, shiny newly repaired car feeling like I got the car I wanted at a price I expected. That is, until I found these guys. If there is such a thing, they are almost TOO attentive! They have a shuttle to take you wherever you need to go, within reason. I tried Paris France but they advised me that the corporate jet was unavailable. So, I settled for a nearby shopping plaza.

They actually ASK you what is wrong (if anything) with your car, as opposed to checking your bank balance and then TELLING you what is wrong. They have very professional staff that is efficient and speedy, without sacrificing integrity. I don't think they actually know who I am but each time I take our late-model Honda into the shop for regular servicing, I get the sense they are on my speed-dial.

Then, they call you about a week after your servicing to make sure everything is good and you still love your vehicle. It is, I do and I love these guys too!

PROS: Large facility, quick appts., lots of support service, doughnuts!
CONS: Except for the fact that they do charge you actual coin of the realm, none!

4 Stars: Terrific selection and tremendous follow-up care for their customers (by Lucinda T.)

What can you say about a car sales place? The dealers follow you around, pester you and act like you are getting a fantastic deal, it' all part of the game. But El Cerrito Honda has one huge difference. They stand behind the sale and offer free oil changes, car washes and more for a long time after purchase. They are award winners in the Honda business because they want you to come back and probably many of their customers do come back to purchase the next vehicle they need. The ultimate in customer satisfaction.
