Hi everyone! I wanted to introduce myself, Dianne Chamberlain and my sister, Andrea Fornari. We are the new owners of The Sandbox Indoor Playground & Consignment in Fairport, NY!! Using the rating system may not be the best way to get word out about the new ownership, but based on what we've read, we want our patrons to know we are new and we are interested in earning your business back. October 2013 was when ownership changed hands. If you have not been in lately, we urge you to come on in and meet us. Mention you've read this review and we'll give you $2 off admission.

Not sure why there are so many negative comments about the Sandbox. First time we went there with my 20mo old son during a rainy weather. We were greeted by a very friendly owner and she told us a little bit about the place and its rules. He had a ton of fun running around and playing with different games/activities. Just this past Sunday we had his second birthday party there and could not be more happy!!!! I loved that we had the entire place to ourselves, all the kids ages 14mo-6yrs had a blast!!! We, as parents did not have to do a thing!! The pizza was delivered on time and each child got one piece, although there were plenty more for seconds... We also ordered Pizza and pop for the adults, which was nicely set up in the "cafe" area, which I thought is a great touch!! After the "time was up" we were NOT rushed out and everyone took the time to wind down... The lady who hosted the party did an amazing job and was always 10 steps ahead of me!!!
Everyone in our party had a great time and we will be sure to return to the Sanbox again and again!
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!

PLEASE go to http://www.insiderpages.com/b/15246744692/the-sandbox-fairport , and read the real reviews there. The reviews go form an abysmal 1 to a still not worth 3, MAX. First off I was a party Host at a major venue called Funscape, and I was the lead party host for 2 of those years. First of all no one greeted me when I came in. I was told the rules (no shoes etc..) by my sister who was trying to juggle my niece and attend to the rest of thhe party. There was roughly 20 grown up and 8 children, so when food time came it was disastrous.. We were told one sub would feed 3 to 4 people and ordered accordingly. The subs were about 4 bits a piece. The tiny pizza slices (1 per child) were set out for the children in the party room while the adult stood around. Not until someone went outside the party room and notice the subs sitting on the furthest table did we know food was there. Apparently during the ardering process the owner asked if we would like to have the sodas put out as well, we said yee, not expecting to be charged on top of the 285$ price tag already. That's when you ask "would you like drinks with your meal for an additional charge? instead of duping the customer. I never once meet anyone that worked at this place. I saw a blonde at the counter and a brunette who lit the candle, but thats all I saw of any employee. the price does include clean up which is AWESOME, however it is not awesome when they are cleaning up during your party and not doing things with the kids. they had no games set up, absolutely nothing. Everyone was aimlessly walking their children around from sport to spot instead of everyone playing and enjoying the birthday together. Like have a 15 min Sandbox time where all the kids get in the sandbox and play, just anything to get all the kids in one place. Of course this would mean a employee would have to be there to supervise. Above all this when asked about all of these shortcomings we were given attitude by the owner, not one sorry just a 311$ bill. The money isn't the issue, if we didn't have the money we would have had a birthday at home, its the principal. As a previous business owner if anyone came to me with issues my first few words were I apologize and what can I do to make you come back next time and give us another chance. I wouldn't argue with a customer, there were two other couples there that were gonna schedule parties but didn't after they saw what happened. What does that tell you?

to give you some perspective I was a party host at Funscape in Victor for over 3 years. I was the lead host and wow have things changed. I knewall the kids names and made them name tags. I talked to each one of them, I talked ot the parents. We helped pass out present and write down what was from who, ad we help cut up the cake and help with drinks etc..during the party we had games that we played, or he kids would show me games they knew. It was like I was a new friend of theirs or a member of the family. It was one of the best jobs I ever had, I literally saw two employees, the blonde at the desk (who was scheduling another party with a walk in when the doors were supposed to be locked) and the girl who stood in the corner with the cake woith her arms folded. Oh I also saw the folded arms girl cleaning sections after the kids left. not actually playing with them. If you are going to charge for cleaning you make time to do it after. People are paying for a party aka entertainment, not people to follow them around with a broom and a mop..

In today's financial landscape you need to fight for every client you can get. You need to provide the service that you advertise. If your having a bad day, or the parties a litte tough, deal with it, thats work. This place just lost us as a future client on top of 3 more that were there, and the countless people we will tell through general conversation. If no stars was an option I would have selected it.

Six weeks before my daughter's 3rd birthday, I called The Sandbox asking questions and getting prices before I booked with them. I followed all of their instructions...including mailing them a hard copy image of Kai Lan to have put on the cake and a confirmed guest list. Unfortunately, the owners didn't open the parcel I sent them through the mail in time to get the cake done correctly even though I mailed it over a week in advance of our party. They claimed that they thought it was a Christmas card, then said that the owner it was addressed to was off the day it arrived. In short, they did not have the cake done as promised for my daughter's party and instead of apologizing and making some kind of financial concession for the error...they tried to blame it on us. Another issue was that I requested balloons for each child (for an additional charge - of course) in three specific colors. They told me no problem on the phone when I booked, but got it wrong on the day of the party. When I tried to address these issues with one of the owners, she was very rude and short with me. She was not apologetic and was unwilling to own up to their error. My husband also attempted to speak with her and she walked away from the conversation. Finally, one of our guests was unhappy because they cleared away their child's food before the kid had finished eating...even though they told the party host that the child needed to go to the bathroom and was not done. The party was stressful for my husband and I as it was not as we had planned for my daughter & her guests. And we were promptly and abruptly shuffled out by the staff at the conclusion of the party time. We were not given any discount for their multiple errors when we paid. We left feeling very unhappy with the service and experience at The Sandbox. We Do NOT RECOMMEND it to anyone as a birthday party location and will not even take our kids there again to play. There are plenty of other places to take your kid for a birthday party or play experience in Rochester where you can leave feeling good about the money you spent for the services received.

Though this is a great place to take your child during colder weather, the options for younger babies (under 2 years old) are few, and not too exciting. The service is very indifferent, and certainly not at a level I would expect from a child-geared establishment. The hours are oddly curtailed and the fee is not small. With better service, hours and a more reasonable price, this would be an even better option.

A fairly new establishment to Fairport but a much-needed one as well. I think there are a few kinks to iron out there. I have seen some changes that have proven to be good so far but the owner could be a little more personable and willing to be open to new ideas or suggestions. The kids love it though and it's a secure place for them to get some exercise indoors when the weather is bad outside. There are so many things for younger kids to do that they could spend all day there and not get bored.

She's doubled the prices and nothing has changed. If the owner is stressed she's very rude and doesn't hide her displeasure. Babies used to be free under 10mths now they're $4.50 if an only child.

It has been a mixed bag for us. One time we went and had a great experience, the next not so much. They have lots of things for the 2-6 age set, and a few things for younger children.
