If you want sushi before catching an event at Frisco's Pizza Hut Park, this is an okay place to go. You'll spend less here on food than you will in the stadium.\r

I swung by this place after a friend dragged me to Stonebriar mall in Frisco. This made my night! Their sushi is amazing! I had bonito sashimi and some stellar chef special rolls. This is worth circling that horrible "Frisco Square" to get a spot. In fact on my next visit i'll be willing to walk a bit to get there. Sake Toro kicks some serious ass people.

Pros: Food, Service, Atmosphere

Cons: Parking

The sushi has always been wonderful and the cocktails are great. The only issue I have is the service. It seems as if the sweet lady who is THE waitress, is completely overwhelmed.

We have been to Sake Toro several several times and we repeatedly go back ONLY because the sushi is so awesome. Every single time we have been, the service is absolutely terrible. When you go, be prepared to wait a while to be acknowledged when you walk in the door. Then, when you finally do get seated, you won't know who your waitress is. There's about 3 that all seem take care of everyone and no one communicates. Just be prepared to wait forever to get drinks, appetizers or anything that doesn't come from the sushi bar. But, the sushi is so fresh and so amazingly good that's the only reason we go back.

Went there with a friend. Waited 10 minutes to be aknowledged and sat :(. Already ticked off. Then We had to flag down a waitress 10 more minutes later to get out drinks. Then Had to flag em' down again to get our order. Waited 15 minutes for appetizers and 30 jus for our sushi. There were barely any people there by the way. But the food was soo delicious. I would go back but only in hopes that the wait wouldnt be as horrible. Maybe they were having an off day?

I went to Sake Toro last night after reading the recommendations on City Search. I loved everything I tried. I always start with basics, avacodo roll and spicy tuna which were excellent. I had one of the special rolls and can't remember the name, it too was awesome. I will be back when I am in the Frisco area again.

The fish is AMAZINGLY fresh but its the combo if the sushi and the great staff that keeps my husband and I coming back! The sushi rolls are never chincy on the fish and never smell fishy (lol). I know that any one that likes sushi will love this place!

As any good "foodie" knows- if you have to add anything to your dish, then it wasn't prepared right. Sake Toro adhears to this golden rule so well that i never once had to touch my sushi to alter its flavor. When you first walk in, you will notice the beautiful shell covered sushi bar, as well as the funky fresh atmosphere. The music that they play creates an upbeat, funloving atmosphere. On to the food. This place has innovative creations which are not only asthetically pleasing, but pleasing to the pallet as well. I am very hard to please, much less impress, and I am raving about this place. I almost don't want to write a review because i don't want this place swarmed with people every time i try to go in. With fun playful names on dishes like "What's my name", "Who's Your Daddy", and "Japanese Lasagna", the Head Chef at Sake Toro has made wonderful, taste bud tantalizing twists on your every day sushi. Don't get me wrong, they do still have the traditional sushi as well for the fans of the classics. While i was there this last visit, I heard someone say that they loved smoked salmon, the chef made a suggestion for them to try a spectacular dish called the San Francisco Salmon. The person looked to be in absolute heaven when they were eating it, and they heartily complimented the chef. At that point I knew I was not the only one there enjoying my meal. To go with your meal, they have a full bar, as well as Hot and Cold Sake. It is obvious to me that this Chef really knows what he is doing, and he takes pride in the dishes that he creates. I will undoubtedly be back for more of this fantastic food.

I?m from Austin and frequented Tomo (on a weekly basis) where KC used to be Chef. He was missed when he left but we are grateful he stayed in TX and went north so we can enjoy amazing sushi near Dallas when we visit. The creativity and originality of KC?s sushi is unbelievable. The fish is fresh and the service is wonderful. NO SOY Sauce allowed should be written on the wall because the flavor combinations of sauces, spices and REAL wasabi are meant to be enjoyed without it. KC- great job on Sake Toro and thanks for making us so welcome.

This place is one of the best around. It's fun, fresh, and a great place to hang out. From the hosts to the service its amazing. It's a great place to go after a long day at work and have a drink or a place where you can go on a date. The food is fresh and made with perfection. I would recommend this place to everyone from family or to a girls night out. It's amazing.

As a frequent patron of Japanese restaurants, I have to say this is the best one I have been to. I've dined at all the Japanese restaurants in Chicago, and eaten at many in Seattle and San Francisco, and none can compare to the overall experience that I had at Sake Toro!

I've been to tons sushi restaurants across the country, but nothing beats Sake Toro. I probably been there more than 10 times for lunch and dinner and the service and food is great. The chefs up at the bar are very nice and friendly and seem to really enjoy what they're doing. They always have very fresh sushi and sashimi.
But what make this restaurant stand out is chef's special rolls and sashimi, my favored rolls are Something Wrong roll (shrimp tempura, avocado top with soft shell crab,Ahi, salmon and yellowtail with sauce) K C's Hand roll, Poki Tower and Screaming O (seared tuna with creamy sauce). They also have great lunch specials. Try this place out, you will not be disappointed!

Not only is this the best quality sushi I have ever eaten (frequent traveler), the value is incredible. I challenge you to find fresher fish for a better value anywhere in North Texas, or beyond. The lunch specials are ridiculously amazing (variety AND value). The atmosphere is friendly and upbeat. Executive Chef KC Choi has outdone himself with the creative specialty rolls and personal touches for each an every customer. He also has plenty for those not inclined to partake of the fresh fish, with his "virgin sushi roll" and menu full of variety. It's a wonderful place tucked into the heart of Frisco Square. I have business associates requesting Sake Toro for our business lunches!

This restaurant has evolved over our several dining experiences from a great place to take your family but can still be awesome for a dinner for two. The Sashimi is always fresh and there's a great selection of rolls. We started out ordering the Mexican Roll, was our favorite, but now order Something Wrong, Who'sYour Daddy and Dancing Eel. The rolls come with great sauces and if you don't care for something or don' know what to order, KC (Chef) is great at explaining his menu or making something specific for your taste buds. On our last visit we ordered the Sushi For Two. It comes in a large boat with Sushi, Sashimi and Chef's Choice rolls. If it's your first visit, it's a great way to start!

Sake Toro, conveniently located off the Tollway, is a sleek and inviting corner restaurant with an attentive staff and top rate sushi. The owner works the sushi bar with another master sushi chef. We always let those two decide what to serve us on any given night and everything has been delicious. Prices are in line with other sushi bars north of Dallas/Ft Worth. Full bar, eclectic menu choices, exciting decor and warm atmosphere. What more could you ask for?

whether it be lunch or dinner, ALL of the food is fantastic. I am a very picky eater and for me to say this about food....it has to be delicious. The only thing I would say needs work is the timing of the dishes. I tend to always get my sushi at the same time I get my appetizer. Another thing is if I'm in a group of people and some would order kitchen food and some sushi, sometimes, if they're busy, the kitchen food would come out WAY earlier than the sushi. I mean it's definitely worth the wait, but it's kind of odd. PLUS the host, or I don't really know what she is sometimes lingers around me for a LONG time. I mean she's nice, but sometimes I just want to eat. Other than those two critiques I LOVE SAKE TORO!

Since my wife and I have been there 8-10 times I can give a pretty good evaluation of this Sushi Bar.

Atmosphere and Service
The Sushi bar use to take on a very Vegas like atmosphere after 9 PM in Frisco this location is fantastic and just right. The atmosphere is comfortable, lighted nicely and service is excellent.

Sake Toro Sushi Restaurant in Frisco has the very wild named rolls of which the sushi chef has a great palate of combinations. Many places today rely on too much spice and heat to make different rolls. While there are many rolls the combination of flavors are good and not too overpowerin on most rolls. In addition, when allergies or tastes differ they are open to changing the rolls to suit your tastes. For the more simpler traditional rolls try a negihama or negitoro roll.

The fish is very fresh. While not the most variety you will find, what they do serve is very fresh. They will serve more traditional variations as well. The Aji (Spanish Mackerel) is served beautifully with a nice dipping sauce and the tempura bones afterwards are great. They have some of the best Ankimo (monkfish liver) I have ever had the pleasure of eating in Frisco and the metroplex. In addition their tuna with mountain yam was very traditional

Their cooked food is excellent as well. Having tried all (if not then more than the majority) of the sushi places in Frisco and many in Plano, this has consistently been above average. There are fancier places where they started off great and have since started to lack the quality, there are less fancy places that really should only do simple rolls and americanized rolls. Sake Toro so far has made the mark with quality traditional style sushi, exotic rolls and great cooked food. Enjoy sushi in Frisco today!
