I still have dreams of Toro Bravo. Why oh why can't we have places like this in San Diego????

If you are into tapas and trying different things on menus, this is definitely a place to check out.

My friend and I went here, after she saw some recommendations for it on, what do you know....YELP!

We must have gotten there at the right time, because we were seated immediately (it was probably 7pm on a Saturday night), but we noticed it got very busy after we arrived.

Let me just tell you, we had a VERY hard time deciding what to order because everything sounded amazing. After a few recommendations from our friendly waitress, we decided to order the Seared Scallops with romesco, Radicchio Salad with green olive toast & manchego vinaigrette, House Smoked Coppa Steak with olive oil poached potatoes, chopped olives & salbitxada , Harissa Stewed Summer Squash with crumbled sheep's cheese & mint, and because of a mistake in the kitchen there was an extra order of some sort of fava bean (I think) dish. I have to say, I wasn't a big fan of the last dish, but everything else was wonderful! Even the large pitcher of Sangria we ordered was refreshing!

Let's just say we walked out of there very satisfied, probably bit fuller than we should have been. But I guess that's what you would expect of a tourist, deciding that the best way to explore Portland is to eat her way through the city...

This could be my favorite restaurant of all time. Four out of five dishes are so good all you can do is pause and say, "wow." The smoked coppa steak is out of this world and don't miss their signature martinis.

I love this place! It has become well loved by many. The serve tapas, with a rotating menu that is based on seasonal items. The have amazing Paella, the cheese plate is always worth a try and the homemade Sangria is refreshing and served in a clay pitcher. The place fills up quick, but they have great cocktails while you wait. Almost every dish will please.

After spending two weeks this summer in Barcelona, we had to find a Spanish restaurant to enjoy in Portland and we found the best! Willamette Week's restaurant of the year in 2007, it's worthy of the honor. Mostly tapas, however, the Toro Bravo paella was better than any we had in Spain. The tapas was creative, diverse and every one was a great preparation. The chicken liver mousse was awesome, as was the sauteed spinach and crab croquettes. Our party of seven ate well, two bottles of wine and we spent $240, including an 18% gratuity. A steal considering what we paid in Spain with a spendy Euro. Expect to wait, Monday night and the restaurant was full. Reservations are for parties of seven or more...find some friends, make a reservation and enjoy a great night of Mediterranean eats.
