On the outside, Il Poggio is a quaint Italian restaurant in Long Beach. Inside the restaurant is a world class chef named Stefano! Move over Mario because Stefano has arrived! Stefano is an outstanding chef who makes mouth watering Italian dishes. The ordinary pasta dish is made extraordinary by Stefano. Your taste buds will agree. Make reservations though. Bixby Knolls has lucked out, this is a delicious restaurant that reminds us of eating at a cafe in Little Italy, San Francisco. Since many eateries shut down around 9-9:30 up in the Bixby area we were surprised to see a large crowd there at 9:15 so we thought we'd give it a try.

We were quite pleased with the service and the food. They give you an unending focaccia bread basket. The food is delicious and pretty to look at. The pastas are fresh as is everything and they give you generous portions.

Our second trip we went for lunch and tried the paninis which were round and as big a pizza, next time we'll just get one and split it and a salad.

They now have a beer and wine license too.

Looking forward to our next visit.
