Great appetizers and great dessert

by Eugenia C. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 6,665

I cannot say much about their main dishes, because most of the time I go for appetizers and dessert only. Combine their yummy bread, the fried calamari (the best I've had in the Boston area), their molten brie/goat cheese salad, and their crabmeat taquitos, and you have a wonderful meal for two! For dessert, do not miss the homemade icecream. Flavors change a lot so you need to ask the server what they have that day. From my expericence, the weirder the flavor sounds... the better it tastes! My two favorite so far have been lavander and carrot. If you are looking for a decadent dessert, go for the flourless chocolate cake,

Ecco is nice but overpriced

by andrea v. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 1,016

Fancyest spot in East Boston for sure, the decoration is a little tacky does not know if it wants to be a high end restaurant or a pub. Food is ok a little overpriced.

Great Date Spot

by stepanieB

My husband and I recently went to Ecco for the first time. We had no idea the place existed. The ambiance is really nice, and at the same time a relaxed atmosphere. Their martini selection was one of the best and all 3 I had were delicious. Food was wonderful too. If you're looking for something different, I highly recommend Ecco. They've got a great casual bar area as well for casual drinks!! It was a nice surprise to see they had on site parking as well...hard to find in most places.

Pros: Amazing Drink Selection, Tasty Food

Amazing Bread, High Quality Food, Favorite's of East Boston

by mpace04

I have been to Ecco several times and have been impressed with the food every time. My boyfriend and I like to sit at the bar and always end up having conversations with the people near us. The soups, bread and entrees are so yummy I wish I could go there more often. But the prices are a little on the higher side so we reserve it usually for a treat. You can sit at the bar or in the comfy booths or tables. The atmosphere is the only upscale chic bar/restaurant in the area. So it's a nice substitute instead of going into Boston. Of course the north end is only a t-stop away. Definitely try it.

Pros: Bread, Soups, Entrees, Atmosphere, Girl bartender=sweetie

Cons: Male Bartender is a little grumpy.

Nice Atmosphere,

by EBo1216

I went to Santarpio's for dinner last night with my husband and then we went over to Ecco for a drink. I ordered a glass of wine and the bartender literally took three bottles of wine and poured sips from each bottle. It was so odd, they charge $9 for a glass, I should get a fresh glass of wine. I did drink it and didn't complain, looking back on it I should have complained.

Pros: Upscale dining in East Boston

Cons: the male bartender, Boston prices
