Ecco has taken a serious DIVE since their previous cook left them. This explains why they are offering Groupons to bring people back into their establishment. Their menu sounds way better than it actually tastes!

The food was very bland and horrible. I should have just whipped our plates back to the waitress as if they were Frisbees. I got the peppered tuna ($24.95) and it was not worth a dime. It was so tiny, tasteless, and left me unfulfilled. My husband and my mother both got the 14 oz steaks ($24.95 each ) and they BOTH said the meat was super tough and flavorless. Even the broccoli that came with their dishes was near its expiration date.

For appetizers we got a sweet and tangy Calamari -- and a 'sparsely there' carpaccio salad. The calamari was average and the carpaccio was a huge insult!

The very first time I came to Ecco over 2 years ago, I thought the food was fantastic. SO when my husband got the Groupon, I thought it was a GREAT place to take my mother. Boy, was it an awful choice! Now I understand why they try to lure in new customers with a coupon. The food is pathetic, the waitresses are clueless, and the overall experience was absolutely terrible.

All the reviews on here say the food is just average. Wish I had read those before...

So why settle for super mediocre food at high gourmet prices? They should just shut down. If you want advice from a previous quality control specialist, this is your warning. The quality of food at Ecco is horrendous.

I will never come back here or suggest this place to even my own enemy.

I cannot say much about their main dishes, because most of the time I go for appetizers and dessert only. Combine their yummy bread, the fried calamari (the best I've had in the Boston area), their molten brie/goat cheese salad, and their crabmeat taquitos, and you have a wonderful meal for two! For dessert, do not miss the homemade icecream. Flavors change a lot so you need to ask the server what they have that day. From my expericence, the weirder the flavor sounds... the better it tastes! My two favorite so far have been lavander and carrot. If you are looking for a decadent dessert, go for the flourless chocolate cake,

Fancyest spot in East Boston for sure, the decoration is a little tacky does not know if it wants to be a high end restaurant or a pub. Food is ok a little overpriced.

My husband and I recently went to Ecco for the first time. We had no idea the place existed. The ambiance is really nice, and at the same time a relaxed atmosphere. Their martini selection was one of the best and all 3 I had were delicious. Food was wonderful too. If you're looking for something different, I highly recommend Ecco. They've got a great casual bar area as well for casual drinks!! It was a nice surprise to see they had on site parking as well...hard to find in most places.

Pros: Amazing Drink Selection, Tasty Food

I have been to Ecco several times and have been impressed with the food every time. My boyfriend and I like to sit at the bar and always end up having conversations with the people near us. The soups, bread and entrees are so yummy I wish I could go there more often. But the prices are a little on the higher side so we reserve it usually for a treat. You can sit at the bar or in the comfy booths or tables. The atmosphere is the only upscale chic bar/restaurant in the area. So it's a nice substitute instead of going into Boston. Of course the north end is only a t-stop away. Definitely try it.

Pros: Bread, Soups, Entrees, Atmosphere, Girl bartender=sweetie

Cons: Male Bartender is a little grumpy.

I went to Santarpio's for dinner last night with my husband and then we went over to Ecco for a drink. I ordered a glass of wine and the bartender literally took three bottles of wine and poured sips from each bottle. It was so odd, they charge $9 for a glass, I should get a fresh glass of wine. I did drink it and didn't complain, looking back on it I should have complained.
