My husband bought through Groupon a hot stone massage and pedicure as a Christmas present.
He called to extend the coupon dates in order for me to enjoy the spa, they denied the extention even though he told them that it was because of a medical condition they said no and they let him know that there will be a cancelation fee so we decided to do an apppoinment.
I came into the place 15 minutes early and a friendly receptionist took care of me and told me that Wanda is going to do the pedicure. She started the pedicure and told me to soak my feet for 5 minutes and left me sitting. after 40 minutes with my feet in hot water and no one taking care of me I spoke to the receptionist and she said I am sorry but your pedicurist left .
We asked for the manager and when she arrived I asked for her business card. She doesn't have one so she showed me her drivers license. She was the owner, Ms. Adams. we explained the situation and her answer was that she is loosing money with us because it was a Groupon purchase and they only pay her 25%. In the end my pampering time at the Elizabeth Adam salon was stressful, plus we had to pay $30 to park.
I went to the salon in August to get my hair highlighted for the first time. I was really nervous about the highlights fading and having to get them redone every 2-3 months. Paul V not only did the highlights but cut my hair too. It was amazing! My highlights still look nice today and the color was perfect. I will not go anywhere else but here because everyone in the salon was very friendly and it was an overall great experience!
I have been getting my hair cut and colored at Elizabeth Adam Salon for years now, and my favorite stylist is Enisa. She is extremely friendly and listens to exactly what you want (which is quite rare in many of the other salons I have been to!) She also makes great suggestions for new cuts and color that is most flattering to my face shape! I strongly believe she is one of the best stylists in Chicago! Her expertise in hair color is like none other and she is very consistent with her work. I always get compliments on my hair and have suggested Enisa to all my friends! Overall, I am extremely satisfied with the whole salon and plan to make many more visits in the future!
Pros: Friendly, Listens to what you want (very important!)
I get microdermabrasion in numerous places in Chicago, usually looking for specials on it. The best one I received from Simona at Elizabeth Adam Salon and Day Spa. She gave me a fabulous massage of shoulder, decollate, back, neck, face, arms and hands. She put my hands in hot mitts and proceeded with micro. Than she used something soothing to calm down my skin- she said to prevent inflammation and discoloration. Steam and extractions followed by oxygen infusion with vitamins and minerals.
My skin looked clean, clear and glowing. My discolorations from previous blemishes lighten a lot. She stated that my skin will look the best in two weeks she was right. It is the place for the best microdremabrasion in town.
I have been waxing my Bikini area for 7 years and I finally found my waxing QUEEN Irina. I use to get strip wax until I made an appointment with Irina at Elizabeth Adam Salon. What a HUGE difference. Not only was strip wax PAINFUL it caused a lot of ingrown hairs. Now I'm able to go 4-6 weeks without getting waxed again, I no longer have ingrown hairs, and the BONUS of hard wax is LESS Pain. She takes about 15 min tops to wax my WHOLE area. She only pulls 4 times not like before where I had about 10 strips or more before I was done... I strongly recommend HARD WAX for everyone.
Pros: Everyone is so friendly and the service is nice and quick
Cons: Parking, but parking in Downtown will always be the problem because it cost too much
This salon is great for waxing. I recommend asking for Irena. She is very personable and makes you feel comfortable. She also uses the hard wax (and I'm not sure why anyone still uses the soft wax down there!). Hard wax is great - so much less painful than soft wax and no irritation after. Hard wax attaches just to the hair rather than to the skin like soft wax. You could literally get waxed in the morning and be wearing a bikini that afternoon! The experience and results from the hard wax are fantastic. Prices are reasonable for a downtown Chicago salon and 20% off for students.
Pros: Practically painless compared to soft wax, and Ireana is very personable.
Tricholigist? I learned by calling Elizabeth Adam salon&spa that they have an In House Hair Doctor! My fine hair was thinning quickly I considered using a topical treatment but leerie of side affects. So I called and made an appointment. The salon was very busy but Iwas never rushed, and when I met my hair doctor,Vicki,I knew my troubles were over. The time and care she took analyzing my scalp and hair and charting me for the right treatment was simplified by starting with only two products. The whole experience was GREAT ! My results are already visible---thanks to this great service.
Pros: great location
Cons: no lockers
I've been coming to Elizabeth Adam since 2002 for facials. In early 2003, I started seeing Basia every month for a facial and my skin has never looked better. After suffering from acne for the past 17 years, Basia's monthly facials are the ONLY thing that has kept my acne in check. Basia is amazing when it comes to the perfect facial........Service is always great, and the girls at the reception desk (Renata and Jennifer) are always friendly and smiling... I highly recommend Elizabeth Adam for facials. I can't speak to the other services, but have had friends who have been to the salon as well and they were as happy with the salon as I was.
Pros: great facial for the price, friendly staff, accomodating
Went here instead of my normal place because they were having a waxing special...bad mistake. Had the wrong apptmt time, made me lay on paper sheet (just like you do at the gyno office), wasnt the type of waxing that I wanted (of coarse every extra area was $8 so it ended up being more expensive than my normal waxing place), didn't give me anything to wear (was literally laying there with half of my clothes on...terrible) and the waxing that they did do was horrible. The hair broke at the skin so literally not even a week after it was back...I would not recommend this salon at all. There are so many choices in the city than this snobby, overpriced, crappy salon
Pros: In water tower
Cons: you name it, ambience, price, quality, people
Customer service....Not sure they what customer service means...The staff answering the phone is extremely rude and unhelpful. The most unpleasant spa I have experienced.
Pros: Absolutely NOTHING....
Cons: Unfriendly, rude
just got a facial- overall very pleased. the rooms are a bit small, yet cozy. prices very reasonable.
I had a lovely experience. I loved the pink robes and slippers. The massage was the best I ever had. The massage therapist was a male and I was apprehensive at firs, but he was very professional and therapeutic. The facial was very nice and relaxing, but best of all my skin looked fresh and glowing for days after. All of the staff was very nice and helpfull. I strongly recomend this spa.
Pros: great location, wonderfull staff, professional operator
