Classy atmosphere & attentive staff!

by AshInHouston

I work nearby here and thought I'd take my Mom for a glass of wine and some live music on a Friday. Afterall, it was a beautiful day! We were pleasantly suprised to hear it was happy hour. We ordered the $5 glass of pinot noir and it was wonderful (regularly $10)! We also had a chesse plate that came with our choice of 3 cheeses (the goat cheese was great), loaf of bread, olives, fruit puree and herb spread. The staff was very attentive ! Just as I was thinking I would ask for another loaf of bread, someone was right there, loaf in hand. Our drinks came very quickly, even though it was very busy. Every table outside was occupied. One of the owners even introduced himself and asked if we were enjoying ourselves. This place knows how to run a successful business, and that's why I'll be returning soon.

Pros: Happy hour prices, outdoor live music, location is popular

Cons: hmmmm.... none.

BRIX rocks

by colleenpye

Once you go you will be hooked. If I say I am going for a glass of wine.. never a question of where I am going. Don , Nita and Jorge would be crushed if I went elsewhere first. I ahve met so many great people here. It is my number one choice fro netwroking... people are relaxed , and HAPPY when I get there. what arefreshing thing today. You have to try the FAT FREE chips... they are amazing. You have to have two glasses of wine before they become fat free.. of course. It is better than anything you will find in town.

Pros: best atmosphere

Cons: None.. are you crazy

Awesome Wine Bar

by VintageParkNeighbor

Being new to the Vintage Park area, we were excited to know that there was a wine bar to enjoy weekend tastings on this side of Houston. For several years this has been one of our Saturday afternoon rituals and would have to travel downtown. Brix has proven to be our favorite wine bar. The owners are wonderful people to get to know, and work very hard to insure that everyone has a great time. Brix has an polished, upscale but casual atmosphere. We Love to set on the patio and enjoy people watching and listening to the water flowing from the huge fountain, Great date place. oh by the way the chef prepared food is wonderful.

Pros: Best Wine Bar in Northwest Houston.

Cons: No conplaints

you WILL love this place!

by DeSando

Have been here 6 times now and love every monent here. This place is awesome. We have been looking for a place just like this since we moved here. An awesome place to sit and listen to some great music, enjoy a great bottle a wine, nibble on a nice cheese platter or endulge in a great steak. The food so far has been wonderful. Our servers are right on with thier service, helpful and quick. The wine selection is a winner!
My only fear is that people start to catch on to this place and I can't get a seat when I get there.

Pros: Awesome atmosphere, great food, wonderful wine

Cons: Can't walk to it:)

Having fun on Friday nights

by happyFridays

Our group goes out every Friday night somewhere in the 1960 area and we've gone to Brix Wine Cellars quite a few times. The owners are pleasant and right there working with the staff. We like to sit outside and they have been very good about adapting tables to fit our needs. The food has always been good and the staff is pleasant and try hard to please. The acoustics inside are only fair, so it can get loud. It's great to sit outdoors and listen to the live music close to the fountain area. We've come to really enjoy this wine bar and so far it's a favorite of a lot of our group. Now there are restaurants all around the wine bar, so there are lots of options for dinner if you don't want to eat at Brix or want something other than what they offer. The specials on Friday night we've sampled have been good. It's not inexpensive, but it is upscale. We like it.

Pros: Friendly and pleasant

Cons: The wine is not inexpensive but it's good - big selection.

Don't drink the koolaid

by tuckerjohn

Wow the other reviewers must have drank the koolaid. Sounds like someone was paid to write those reviews, they're so fluffy and over zealous. This place does have an extremely nice atmosphere to agree with one of the reviewers. That's about where it stops, though. The by the glass is very limited, but by the bottle is decent - not great for just a glass, therefore go thirsty! The service was reasonable... just avoid one of the owners. All I had to listen to was where he's been, what he's done, and what wine he's had or has. It's almost entertaining in itself to listen to the rambling of someone explaining to you how great they are... Our waitress was very nice, however (Stephanie I think was her name). When she waited on us everything went smoothly. The food was decent, but I couldn't tell if this was supposed to be a restaurant or a wine bar... maybe it's just growing pains. I'm sure I'll be back because of it's location to my house more than anything. Definitely not sitting at the bar for worries of getting bombarded by the owner again.

Pros: Atmosphere, decent wine

Cons: Arrogant owner, awkward location, limited glasses

That's The Way I Like It

by drjsr52

In my world travels for over 30 years, I have one primary objective for a wine bar - happy customers are obvious when I walk through the door. No stuffiness, no ersatz beautiful people.

Walking into Brix is a pleasant beginning, the bartenders and wait staff acknowledge you immediately even when there is a crowd (every time I visit). I can buy good wine at several places, but I can't buy that family feeling.

Food goes with wine and Chef Jeff does some delicious, but not overfilling accompaniments. Try Red Night on Thursdays - a correct portion of beef and sides that leave room for dessert. So, my usual is the medium-rare steak with a Keenan cabernet followed by the truffles and a glass of 10-year Dow tawny port. While I dine, I participate in the happy chatter and avoid the rare (thank God) serious discussion.

I always leave happier than I arrived. Drop by and introduce yourself to the residents and the guests.

Pros: Service, selection, smiles

Cons: None

A taste of heaven

by thedreamweavre

Nestled within the Tuscan-style Vintage Park shopping area off of Louetta is Brix, a cozy, yet sophisticately elegant interpretation of a Tuscan-style wine cafe'. Aside from its warm ambience, granite countertops, rustic brick-lined walls & ceilings, candlelit tables, meticulously hand-drawn vineyard murals & friendly faces aiming to please, is an impressively grandiose selection of 'trophy' wines, tasty everyday quaffables & wine flights for those who just have a palate for variety.
Outdoor patio seating, which overlooks the 'Piazza Fontana,' provides a relaxing alternative to being indoors. Brix also offers a handsomely adorned private room with plasma television, for private & business events.
And let's not forget the menu, comprised of bite-sized portions of tasty delicacies that serve to complement, yet not overwhelm, the vibrant selection of wines offered. My personal favorites are the flatbread pizza & cheese platter. And for those looking for a little something else, Brix also offers 3 beers on tap, espresso & imported bottled waters. To cut to the chase, I absolutely adore this little piece of heaven.
Additionally, other amenities include purchasing a personal mini wine space, with a lovely engraved ownership tag, so that you can let everyone know that you have properly stored bottles for future enjoyment at your convenience! Smartly displayed in glass, one can just admire their selections, as I do mine, with every visit :). Since I am on the Brix email list, I do receive their weekly calendar of wine events, special private dinners & tastings.
One facet of Brix that I would like to elaborate on is the special treatment that I receive. I feel like a new customer each time I visit. All in all, even though I have found that life can be so fleeting & complicated, it IS meant to be enjoyed. So, don't just take my word for it; come by and taste a little bit of heaven for yourself(and have a great glass also!)!

Respectfully, Lisa Dawn

Pros: extensive & upscale wine/menu selections, courteous & attentive service, sophisticated & comfortable atmosphere

Cons: Vintage area parking can be congested
