the best experience I've had with movers

by andrew r.

I cannot thank you guys enough for making our move such a hassle free and painless one! I found PLANET on the web and decided to give them a try after pricing out a few on the list. They were by far the most reasonably priced. Another moving company that I called told me I need THREE guys to move our tiny 2 bedroom in law at $150/hour! Whatever!!

On the day of our move, I was a bit nervous as I did not receive any phone calls from the movers or the owner. So I called the main number and must have talked to the owner. He assured me that his movers will call me after their first job and sure enough, they did! We had booked them for 2pm on a Saturday and they were even early! Two guys showed up and went to work immediately. We were moving from an in law in Tracy to Berkeley. They were able to wrap up all of our furniture in just under 2 hours and got to our new place. They even gave us wardrobe boxes with no extra charge! Of course, we had to give them back once we got to our new place, but some places charge you for "renting" their materials!

They were so fast, efficient and careful with all of our furniture that we really didn't have to worry about anything. I've moved quite a few times now and this is by far the best experience I've had with movers. We will definitely use them again when the time comes!

we couldn't have been more pleased with PLANET

by bill h.

We used Planet Moving and Storage for our move last weekend and they were great. After reading reviews about their major competitor, I originally wanted to go with them, but they were booked for our date. PLANET was our second choice. We needed to pick up from two locations and deliver to one, and PLANET offered to go to our first location the night before, store everything overnight, then go to our second location and then our new apartment the next day. We were thrilled with this arrangement and it didn't cost any more than their competitor. We had four movers - Paul, Titus, Abel and "new guy." They were right on time, called when they were on the way and kept us updated on when they were charging and when they weren't (they charged when they were driving to our first stop and sitting in traffic, but not when they stopped for dinner.) When they arrived, they hustled like crazy - my boyfriend and I felt like lazy pieces of crap watching them run up and down the stairs. It was the new guy's second day, so he had a little more trouble - he broke a light fixture at the top of our stairs carrying a desk. Paul apologized though and told us we can send him a bill for the light. We haven't done that yet, so I can't vouch for how easy it will be to get refunded, but we were happy no one got hurt. Our new apartment is on the third-floor with a somewhat difficult staircase. The four guys were up and down so quickly though that you never would have known how hard it was. They were extremely friendly and completely willing to move furniture all over the place. We packed everything in advance except for lamps, framed pictures and hanging clothes. They rented us wardrobe boxes for those things for $6/box. They quoted us about $1200 for two stops and one delivery to a third floor, 3 bedroom apartments. This included one bed, kitchen table and buffet, a couch and 2 love seats, computer, TV, entertainment center, several dressers and about 40 boxes. It took six hours over two days and they charged us $1274. Overall, they did a great job. Fast, friendly and efficient. No fancy uniforms or fancy truck or anything, and the light fixture did get broken and one dresser was scratched. Besides those things, though, we couldn't have been more pleased with PLANET. We will definitely use them again!

a pleasant experience !

by kevin a.

I read so many great reviews on PLANET MOVING AND STORAGE that I called them for a quote on my move to Santa Clara. I spoke with Don at Planet and he guided me through the beginning process and what to look for in a moving company and the questions to ask all the other companies that were quoting me as well. He took my information and told me one of their agents would contact me momentarily and within 10 minutes Eric W called me to go over my inventory list. He was very helpful and asked me questions that most of the other companies did not ask and answered all of my questions without hesitation. He quoted me $2100 initially and after speaking with 10 other companies I called him with their quotes to see if he could do any better. His email said they would match the quotes of any reputable competitor and one of the quotes was the exact same services (so I thought) for 2,500.00 when I forwarded the quote to him he actually picked it apart and saved me from making a dire mistake because he told me that the quote was actually based on cubic feet (which has been outlawed by the D.O.T he told me) and that it did not include a shuttle fee, or several other fees and most importantly the company that I found no negative complaints about was only 4 months old (meaning they probably operated under a different name and screwed numerous people under a different name until they changed it) I then at that point decided to move with PLANET moving because to be honest, I liked Eric and he was up front and honest about everything. The actual move went great and everything was picked-up on time, delivered on time and I was not charged anything but my original quote. I would and will recommend this company to anyone that I know is moving.

couldnt expect more from any other company

To Whom It May Concern

I used Planet Moving and Storage to move me from New York City to CA. I went from a normal size house to a retirement community, but I had a nice size cottage, so there was much to move. Most movers I called would not give me a definite date for both loading and unloading, but it was very important to me that they come to load one day, we travel the next day, and they unload the following day. PLANET was the only one who gave it some thought, and then called me to say they would do it my way!! That was extremely important to me, and it was an indication that they did try to make their customers happy.

The packing crew came on time, spent the entire day packing, and we were to meet in CA 2 days later. Alto the crew could use a computer to plot their route from NY to CA; my retirement community was so new that my street address would not be in the computer. I gave the man in charge the only phone no. I had at the retirement community. When my son and I arrived in CA, we were told the head man of Safeway had called to find out the exact spot they were to deliver my furniture, and to pinpoint the time a little closer. I was very impressed with that!
The van arrived when it was supposed to, the crew unloaded all of the furniture and boxes in the midst of workmen coming and going everywhere, but they got the furniture put together properly and the boxes stored neatly in one section of the living room. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who needs to hire a moving company. They were professional, reliable, and careful. Moving is not for the faint-hearted, but they made a terrible chore as tolerable as could be expected of any company.

a pleasant experience

by adriano c.

Ever had a move out of a place with a lot of friends who pledged their assistance and then suddenly that number dwindles to two? And this is a move that really needed a lot of extra hands and a big truck. This was the situation that I and my wife found ourselves in over Thanksgiving weekend, when we had to move from a 2-bedroom apartment into a house.

PLANET MOVING was recommended to us by the many reviews found, so I wanted to add my own. Because of our limited assistance and lack of proper transport, we contacted planet and spoke to Victoria (who was exceptionally helpful and very friendly over the phone). She set us up with an appointment the day after Thanksgiving, for a 2-man crew

Steve and his associate showed up promptly at the designated time. They did a brief walk-through to determine how to proceed, and once they determined which rooms should go first, they were very efficient. They moved out all the big items, including a very unwieldy and huge L-shaped desk of mine, in less than two hours. Having had negative experiences with other moving companies, we were very impressed with PLANET MOVING AND STORAGE. They worked hard, and they did take a lunch break while they drove our stuff from the old place to the new (and so did I), and they met me at our new house on-time.

I highly recommend PLANET to my friends, and to my fellow readers. Reasonable rates, hard-working and caring movers, all-around pleasant experience to deal with and I would wholeheartedly use them again should I need to move to another place.

professional, reasonably priced, friendly company

by cilia n.

I recently moved from San Francisco to a city about 2 hours away. I looked around for movers, talked to friends, looked on line, and ended up calling about 5 places for quotes and information. Ori Van Lines had an excellent reputation, but their quote was about twice what everyone Else's was, and I just couldn't afford it. Out of the others that I called (all licensed movers), there were two with low quotes, but I didn't really get a good feeling over the phone. For example, I didn't have the impression they were listening when I described the stairs at my place, the amount of stuff, how far away it was going, etc.Planets' quote came in mid-range. I liked the guy on the phone, who communicated well, was friendly, and seemed to listen. They quoted me a flat hourly rate for 3 guys and a 24-foot truck, and we estimated how long the move would take given the distance. I made the appointment. On the day of the move, I got a call from the owner saying the guys would be about 15-20 minutes late and apologizing. Considering that I'm perpetually late to everything, I didn't have any issue with that, and appreciated the prompt call. The 3 guys showed up, and they were great: friendly and super hard-working. I pointed at what needed to go (-- almost everything from a 2300 sq. foot place, with some of the heaviest items on the 3rd floor!), and they just got to work. I was amazed at how quickly, yet carefully, they could move stuff. They were practically jogging up and down stairs. But I never felt that they were being careless with my stuff. Everything was well-wrapped and buffered, and held securely and maneuvered well. These guys were fast! Considering that they were being paid by the hour, you might think they would slow down a little, but they just kept up a really good pace. I gave them some cold drinks, and before I knew it, everything was in the truck. They drove to the new location with no problem, and unloaded everything quickly. And they didn't get annoyed with me telling them "I want that box in front where I can get to it and that one over there and..." And did I mention it was about 90-95 degrees at the place they were unloading? They were troopers.Anyway, I gave them a huge tip and was happy to do so -- they earned it. I highly recommend this professional, reasonably priced, friendly company.

fast and easy

by lisa f.

I recently moved from Santa Clara into Manhattan, and I knew I couldn't do it on my own even though I didn't have a ton of stuff. Planet Moving and Storage had good reviews, so I got a quote and decided to hire them. I only scheduled a week in advance, and they were really accommodating. In total, it cost me just over $1250 for two guys and a truck to move my things. They showed up right on time at 9 a.m. on a Saturday. I had everything packed beforehand, but they brought special boxes for my TV and lamps. It took them about 20 minutes to load up their truck and then we both left to meet them at my Manhattan apartment. When they arrived on the WU'S, they immediately worked out a system for moving things up to my fifth-floor walk-up. I felt so bad for them because it was really hot out, but I decided to tip generously. They finished getting everything in my new apartment at 12:30 amOne of the movers, Scott, was really friendly and made a lot of small talk. It made me feel comfortable with having him handling everything I own. I even saw him a few days later and he remembered me.It's hard to move these days, but these guys will make it fast, easy and relatively affordable.

If you need movers, contact PLANET MOVING AND STORAGE!!

by sean d.

I've had experiences with several movers in the past. During my most recent move, I hired planet moving and storage. They are by far the best movers I've ever experienced.

Planet made this last minute move so easy to book. They gave me an upfront quote. They were very professional, and very oriented toward excellent customer service.

The evening before the move, I received a confirmation call, and the day of the move, I received a call when the movers were on their way.

The movers were friendly and personable. The lead mover introduced his crew to me by name. They worked with speed and care. I was amazed at how quickly they had everything loaded, while being so careful.

They unloaded with the same speed and care. They even helped me organize things at the drop off point, AND they still finished the move within the predicted time frame.

After the move was complete, The Foremen took the time to personally ask if I was satisfied with the service. I was more than satisfied. I will use them again. They are the best movers I've experienced.

a great experience

by paul c.

These guys put up with me on my very own Terrible, Horrible, No Good, and Very Bad Day. I idiotically decided to schedule my move at 9am the morning after Halloween. Still drunk and quite ill, I received a call at 8am saying that we didn't have the key to the storage unit where I was scheduled to meet the movers in one hour. After some panicked and unsuccessful attempts at obtaining said key, I had to make the call to Moving Man letting them know I screwed up. They weren't happy but they also said, "call us by noon and we can make this happen."

The skies opened up and down dropped the key (thank you Quinn). I called back and we rescheduled for noon. I huddled in the dark nursing my horrible hangover and they showed up right on time at the unit. These 2 guys had all my stuff in the truck in less than 10 minutes. I met them at the apartment and they dragged my apartment up a 5 floor walk without a peep. These guys were so professional, so gracious that I almost cried when they told me that my cost was only $225 - the bare minimum charge - for the entire ordeal. They didn't waste any time trying to eat up more billing hours and they seemed surprised even when I tipped. All in all...a great experience despite my best efforts to ruin my move.

Planet Moving and Storage definitely lives up to its customers.

by alex s.

I had to relocate from my home to NY. I had a lot of stuff and being a smart man, I shopped around for moving help. My research showed that in the Boston metro area, PLANET had the best fleet and service.

So I decided to give the guys a call for a quote. Most of the movers I've previously called asked for a sum close to, or little above a grand. However, PLANET only asked me for ~800$ right off the bat.

So the glorious day came, the movers were extremely courteous and very fluent in English. They wouldn't let me even help them carry a box! Their work ethic is very close to spectacular. I've used other moving companies before, but this one definitely stands out. I had a glass table and two precious family vases that needed some extra attention. The movers dealt with that issue professionally. They put these items in a special designated compartment (must be a new thing??) and they arrived in Ozone Park untouched!

Thanks to these guys my relocation was like a breeze.... Too bad they're based in Mass. and not in N.Y.C... If I'm to move again, I would definitely try to contact them and see if they can help me out.

best move ever!

by mia h.

My move was competed this last weekend and I am all moved in and am writing this review as requested by planet moving and storage.
They were great with me over the phone and explained everything to me. From our conversations they made me feel very secure using this company and assured me that my move would be great.
I have read many bad reviews about companies on different websites and had to make a decision and really they made me feel the most comfortable and out of the 20 or so quotes I received this was pretty reasonable.
The move was great and the price didn't go up any from the estimate and the guys who did the move Jerry and his helper were great too.
Everything arrived on Saturday and all was great.
Once again, thanks for everything and I will send you guys plenty of business and use you again if I move in the future.

I will definitely hire Planet again

by jane d.

I chose Planet because of the reviews on the web. This being my first move, I was nervous about pricing and getting scammed, but everything from the receptionist to the movers to the owner was very helpful. Here's my particular story:I moved this past Sunday. My original appointment was for 10am, but because four movers called in sick, Planet had to reschedule to around 2pm. Initially, I was pretty annoyed by this because I had planned on going in to work that afternoon, but things happen, and I was impressed with the way Planet handled what would have otherwise been a disaster. The owner personally called and offered to do the move for half the rate because of the long reschedule and the added uncertainty it added to my move. He got in contact with the movers and updated me as things progressed to assure me that they were coming. The movers themselves seemed like really nice guys and worked quickly once they were able to get to my place. It took a little more than two hours for them to take down one bedroom's worth of stuff from a fourth-story walk up to a fifth-story walk up. I chose the two guys and one van option.Overall, it was a very good experience and I will definitely hire Planet again. The mark of a good honest business is not that everything has to go perfect all the time, but that the business treats you fairly when the unexpected happens.

Thank you guys!

by martha v.

Recently my husband and I moved to CA, NYC. Stefan, Val and Bob arrived at 9 am in the morning exactly as they promised. All three of them were very kind and courteous. We have asked for packing service done and they worked quietly and fast. By 11 am, our 1 bedroom apartment was all packed up and ready to be moved to
We arrived in our new apartment via PATH and they were already there ready to unload. Everything arrived safely and no damage, no loss was found on any of our items. They assembled furniture and arranged some heavy objects so we did not have to do any lifting later. By the time they left at 3pm, only thing we had to do was unpacking boxes and even that was breeze (each box was clearly marked with contents).
In terms of pricing, we found PLANET is extremely competitive. Prior to move, we have contacted various moving services to compare the price quotes and PLANET has quoted the most reasonable, no-frill, no-fine print pricing.
We were extremely happy with this moving experience! Especially to a pregnant woman like myself, a service like this is truly invaluable. I will recommend this company to all my colleagues and friends.
Thank you guys!

Can't get much better than that

by beth m.

In past moves, I've been screwed royally.

THANK you planet!!

This move was professional and smooth from my first phone call to check their availability and rates! the person who answered my call, was so nice and helpful, and suggested I might want to get a permit from police to get "no parking" signs for my starting point, since I live on the J-Church line. I hadn't even thought of that. VERY helpful advice, and saved my ass on move day!!

Then they called to confirm a few days later, and again, were very professional and thoughtful. And suggested I may want to hire 3 guys instead of 2, given the amount of boxes I had packed (they have you fax in an "inventory" list in advance so they can appropriately staff your move based on your needs).

Let me just say that ONE big guy (and 2 average sized guys) later, I was moved in under 3 1/2 hours!! And they were sooo careful with my stuff. And nothing was damaged. And they were friendly and nice, too! It was actually FUN!!

If I could give 5+ stars, I would!! I am one happy customer!! Now, if only my shower pressure were better... ;-) And my cell phone got reception in the new place!! :-)

No horror stories here

by james p.

I tend to move around a lot, and these guys have helped make the dreadful moving process a lot less painful. In fact, I have used them three times. All the moves were flat rates and the movers were always on time (within the 2-hour arrival window) and surprisingly quick and efficient. For each move, I shop around and get a few other quotes from other movers, but I have always stuck with PLANET for peace of mind even when they weren't the cheapest quote because they get the job done right, without any hassle. They always quick to respond via email, and their new system provides an on line confirmation (which you must electronically sign), a receipt, and a reference number. I'll be using these guys for another upcoming move and will update my review afterwards!

Planet gets 5 stars from me because they offered great value for what I pai

by dave l.

They accommodated my last minute move. They got lost on the way to the new place but it's not super easy to find and they took the time off the final tab.

I've moved twice recently and other movers that charge the same per hour are much slower and not as careful. I pointed out fragile boxes and they were exceptionally cautious. They used blankets and pads on all my furniture and were fast and efficient.

Did they mention that my boxes of hardcover books and television were heavy? Sure. They are enormously heavy that's why I hired movers. I don't feel like they were complaining. They moved a lot of heavy things (including a stationary bike and a very heavy metal safe) down one flight from the old place and up one flight that had a landing and a 90 degree turn. In both of my previous moves the movers took boxes two at a time on a dolly. planet movers did three and four boxes at a time.

I will say that it might have been slightly easier for me to communicate with the movers because I speak mandarin at a kindergarten level. There was no time wasted pointing out where I wanted things to go. The movers were even fast going back down the stairs to get the next load.

I gave each mover a 40 dollar tip. They shaved an hour off my last move (which was easier, with only one set of stairs, and a friend helping). There was no mention of a tip when I was presented with the final bill and they seemed pretty happy with the tip I gave.

My best moving experience by far! Give them a call.

by eve b.

In the 2 years I have lived in San Francisco, I have moved 3 times... and each time used movers - I'm lazy. The first couple of times I went with the moving company that employs students who are starving. Yeah, I realized quickly they weren't really students nor were they starving. On my second move, they took their sweet time to load & unload (over 5 hours) to move a 1 bedroom from Hayes Valley to the Marina.

These experiences prompted my good friends to refer Planet moving for my 3rd move.
Unbelievable difference!
The 3 guys from Planet arrived 15 mins early to take a look at the apartment, prepare an estimate, prepare an inventory of my furniture and boxes, and write up all the paperwork. They explained every detail and were extremely professional and respectful of me and my crap; always calling me Mr. or Sir. (While I don't expect people to do that and would rather they call me by my first name it's better than "HEY" like those hungry students). The day of my move happened to be a street sweeping day; they didn't mind, and repeatedly moved the truck without a fuss. Even though 1 of the 3 guys remained down at the truck the whole time, they had my entire apartment loaded onto the truck in 45mins and unloaded at my new home in 35mins. At each point when the clock was stopped and started or during double time for driving I was asked for the time; there was no way for them to cheat me on the length of time... it would be impossible to add an additional 15mins here or there because I was giving them the time throughout the trip. I knew exactly what they were charging me and it was accurate. Planet has a 3-hour minimum which was all I had to pay; they moved me in less than 3 hours.
None of the furniture was damaged and every article found its way over to my new home.

PLANET MOVING AND STORAGE is wonderful... period.

by bob s.

Casualties of the clich SF gentrification eviction... my wife, myself and our (at the time) 16 month old were *very* attentively and gently relocated.

As a painter and filmmaker, my wife and I'd been living in a wonderfully unconventional space... in fact, it was an old general store type space with the shopkeeper's residence in the back.

Planet was good enough to come over and check out our space and what we had.

They were wonderful at discussing exactly what it would take to pack up our breakables and valuables (including an extensive art collection and a massive library of fine art and collectible books as well as several mid-century modern furnishings and platform bed as heavy as a cargo ship!) and get us into our new home...

They were *very* thorough and professional and it gave us great comfort knowing we were commissioning such an attentive team.

BUT the actual move date was what really touched my heart-Planet not only came over to help comfort our little one on such an emotional day, but they ended up staying on with the team all the way till the very end of the move...

From what I could gather this was far, far above and beyond what an Office / Project Manager would ever be expected to do.

The rest of the team was such hustlers (the good kind). These three sturdy men hit the ground running and didn't stop until furniture was perfectly placed in our new home and sheets were on the bed. It was a *very* long day for them, but as swift as they were, they were equally cautious and tender handed with *all* of our belongings...

If you're still reading this, I'll go ahead and write what I should've many many lines ago...

If you have valuables and precious things to relocate, you'd be foolish not to put PLANET at the top of your list.

I never thought there would be such a thing as a moving company with heart, but now I know there is one.

High Five for the PLANET Guys!!!

by rudy s.

The reason I hired this company was because of the great reviews!

I've moved many times in my life, and I can vouch that these guys are the real deal.

I went to their website and got an Internet quote. I communicated via email mostly and always got a quick response. I called the office before the move and had additional questions answered.

I moved from a large 2 bedroom apartment of one of those large, super-modern, high maintenance apartment complexes in South Beach and they were as anal as they come. They required insurance coverage, workers comp, CA licensed, tons of paperwork, and rules and regulations. All that was more exhausting then the move itself. But the office provided all the necessary goods. Geez... They were very nice and accommodating when I had to change my move date a few times because of delays in my escrow.

My reservation for the elevator was scheduled at 11:00am - 2:00pm. Well, they called a little before 10:45 saying they were in the loading dock. Ahhh!

They quickly disassembled my bed and other furniture, wrapped my furniture in blankets and tape and started loading the elevator and truck at 11am, as I was furiously packing the final 4-5 boxes.

They wrapped up everything professionally, moved heavy items quickly and safely and were very courteous. The one guy even apologized profusely for having to use my bathroom. I was like, "Dude, I don't live here anymore!" We were out of my old place by 2:00pm! Everything got to my new place safe and sound-- a smooth sail...

The only tiny problem was that I failed to remember the exact quote -- my fault, not theirs -- and had to shortchange them a little on the tip. So, I gave them each a bottle of wine to make up for it.

High Five for the PLANET Guys!!!

This was the best move I have ever had!!

by pat a.

This was the best move I have ever had because they made it seem easy. Moving is not easy, I have used movers about ten times, and there are always moments of anxiety. Not so with Planet. They made the whole experience seem like a walk in the park.

On the phone and giving a quote, they were uncommonly patient, respectful, organized and low pressure. They gave me the time me to collect my scattered thoughts and figure out what I really needed. I spoke to three movers who were "five-stars" and Planet put me most at ease.

The movers were fantastic. Punctual, respectful, fast as hell. They didn't grunt and groan like most movers, they cheerfully did stuff they hadn't expected to do (removed a light fixture so my couch could fit out the old door, figured out how to disassemble/reassemble my IKEA furniture, did a long haul at the new house when the truck didn't fit down my driveway). They were amazingly mellow about having to double-park their truck, and didn't run roughshod over my apartment.

Most movers will do the stuff you ask them to do, complaining all the way. I personally find it very uncomfortable to have to boss around big, burly men who are resentfully doing their job. Not so with Planet guys. They proactively did things, and never made it seem hard. Usually I tip movers because I feel bad after they have appeared to struggle all day. With Planet, I gave the boys great tips because they made it seem so easy.

The price here is on the higher side, but in the end it cost less than others had quoted due to Planet's astounding speed. When you also factor in the "no stress" factor, these guys are a bargain!

planet's guys were AWESOME

by monica b.

Thorough, friendly, strong and efficient. I can't recommend these guys highly enough. In an industry often characterized by mistrust and overshot estimates, planet's guys were AWESOME, including the estimating and dispatch process.

We had Siki (sic?), Lou and a third guy, whose name I didn't catch, but was one of the strongest men pound-for-pound I have ever seen. We were quoted $150(cash)/$160(credit card) per hour for the three guys and the initial estimate was 5+ hours. They finished everything in 4 hours flat, including a driving the way.

I was impressed to say the least, and having a track record of three self-moves in the past five years, not to mention several pizza-and-beer-for-your-brawn moves with friends, the $750 was more than fair and far less than the chiropractor.

very impressed

by elizabeth c.

To Whom It May Concern:
Alto the crew could use a computer to plot their route from NY to CA, my retirement community was so new that my street address would not be in the computer. I gave the man in charge the only phone no. I had at the retirement community. When my son and I arrived in CA, we were told the head man of Safeway had called to find out the exact spot they were to deliver my furniture, and to pinpoint the time a little r.

Priceless

by david b.

I found PLANET MOVING AND STORAGE on the web and they had good ratings. I needed to get a bunch of heavy furniture from my grandparents' three-story condo into my new apartment. Boyfriend Mark was still in Arizona, so he couldn't help with the heavy lifting. So I found another man to move me! It wasn't cheating, I swear. I called up PLANET, got a quote and then called a few other places to compare prices. Planet had the second-best quote and I had a better feeling about them, overall...gotta listen to that intuition!

The 4 movers showed up on the later side of the hour-long arrival time frame I had been given. At first glance, I wasn't sure I had made the best choice. One guy looked like he was around 50. None of them were very big or sturdy. But they came in, I showed them what all needed to be moved, and man...those guys got to work! In less than an hour, they had moved two large dressers, two arm chairs, a TV and TV stand, kitchen table and chairs, a vanity with a large mirror (which they carefully unscrewed and wrapped), a VERY heavy sofa bed, some end tables, an armoire, etc.

We headed over to my place, I showed them which rooms corresponded to the labels I had stuck on all the furniture, and in even less time they had unloaded everything, put it all exactly where I wanted it, reassembled the vanity, put the cushions back on the couch and armchairs, and... Here's the best part- by the time the movers were finished, it was a little over two hours...maybe 2 hours and 15 minutes. But they only charged me for 2 hours flat, whereas most places round up to the next half-hour or hour!

When the movers left I just stood there looking around in amazement. Everything was where it should be. The easiest move ever. Nothing was broken or scratched. These guys went above and beyond!!

**Note- I was going to go with three movers instead of four, but planet employee advised that I take the pricier quote for 4 movers, because they could move everything faster with the extra person and save me more money in the long run.
Cost of getting the move done in 2 hours and not having my friends and family hate me for roping them in to spending half a day moving all that stuff: Priceless.

applause

by mike c.

This is my first review of any company, but these guys were so good, I thought they really deserve my applause. They made what could have been a horrible situation almost fun. We were dismantling our family home and the furnishings were to be divided between me and my three "Greedy Sisters" and one "Who Cares Brother."

We had decided before moving day that was to get what and where it was going
Come moving day, last Saturday, two of my Greedy Sisters, started backing out on the agreements, and telling the movers to pull stuff off the trucks and change things, etc. etc. It got really nasty. My brother started yelling" I hate this family! This is why I never got married!" And he left. The fighting continued. The foreman on the job called his office, as the job had to stop. the owner appeared twenty minutes later, and through his kind reassuring presence he calmed down my sisters, we talked about the difficulty of letting go of a family home.Within half an hour, we didn't care who got what furniture wise. My greedy sisters were no longer greedy, I no longer hated them. The moving job continued and it still came in as agreed price wise. Everything arrived in perfect shape.

The movers were good and most important they were kind. Moving, changing is so traumatic. We felt so lucky to use this company.

They did a lot more then move us. They healed us. They are true professionals. People say that if a fish stinks look to hits had. In this case if a fish is terrific look to its head.
All this shows is the care, concern and decency we received from this firm. the office, mirror their bosses warmth too, and the man who came out to give us our on-site estimate was thorough (and also gorgeous.) Can't say enough well about PLANET. Thank You!

praise them

by joe p.

At first, I didn't know which moving company to use. The business of using a professional moving company was a bit new to me the first time around, but I guess I was so satisfied with their work that I just assumed I'd already come here to write a review.

The movers are super-nice. They work quickly but handle your stuff with care. These aren't the movers who are gonna look at your stuff with a look in their eyes that says, "What the bleep is all this bleep?" (I've had movers give me that look, and it's makes me both infuriated and self-conscious.) Side note: you'd do well to remember the names "Fred" and "Wolfgang". I'm sure they must handle a lot of clients, and I don't know how they do it, but they're always so consistently friendly, conversational, and willing to help you through the move.

The trick is to really have your stuff prepared. You're trying to make the move as seamless for them as you want it to be for you. Follow their guidelines about using boxes and taking inventory. Prior to your move, these guidelines will be sent to you along with a bunch of other important paperwork. That way, you get everything in writing. I was even given a follow-up call after my move, I was so pleased with the service that I called them myself and gave my praises for the quality service that I received for very reasonable price. That's another praise for this company: consistency!

They functioned with a charming approachability that didn't add any trouble on top of what is generally already a stressful experience. Someone else's review said that these are guys you'd wanna have over "to your next bbq". I agree 100%. These guys are totally chillaxed. Even when you're moving from just one end of the city to the other, and even when you've got everything packed, you won't believe how much of your life gets sucked away by the awful business of commuting and subsequent unpacking. You need movers who will give you one less thing to worry about. Here's your answer.

We'll be back. We promise

by martin c.

I hate moving more than anyone in the world and my old apartment is probably the least mover-friendly apartment on the planet. Since its a "resort style" set up, it's like a hotel. One elevator on the opposite side of the apartment and three set of double doors and two long hallways... and finally, my apartment at the end of the long hallway.

I called and spoke with PLANET, and explained that we were on a budget. They kindly suggested that the movers come to move the heavier of the items for us, while we move the rest. We didn't really know we had that option with a moving company, and appreciated this suggestion.

On the day of the move, three men arrived promptly at 7 a.m. unbelievably; they were energetic and super friendly, even at that early hour on a Saturday. They took no time getting all of our remaining furniture and extras out to their truck. They moved EVERYTHING without a complaint, and remained extremely cheerful and amusing throughout. They didn't take any breaks, and got us to our new place in record time.

My new apartment is a three floor walk-up. Narrow as god knows what, with forty stairs. They brought everything in with professionalism and took the greatest care not to damage any of our items.

Here's what was incredible: many movers may have taken their time since they get paid by the hour, but these guys hauled ass and got our stuff here so quickly. I witnessed one of the movers carrying two huge, heavy boxes of books on his back up those stairs and into my apartment.

These movers are not lazy, and are as friendly as can be. They had an amazing attitude and even offered to help us arrange our furniture (our new living room is shaped really awkwardly) in a way that would be most esthetically pleasing. We declined, but we appreciated their input.

They don't charge extra if your apartment is a pain in the ass to get into, or if you have more than X amount of stairs. If it wasn't such a pain the ass to get in and out of both apartments, they would have finished in less than 3 hours, I am sure.

If you are planning to move, give these guys a call. Honestly, this is a team of individuals that are professional, courteous, and quick.

We likely have to move again next year (hopefully into a house), and we'll definitely be giving these guys a call. Trust me. If you're looking for movers with a positive and fun attitude combined with professionalism, this is where its at.

HUGE props to PLANET'S team for making our move as easy as it was. We'll be back. We promise.
