Terrific Tuna

by Shan W. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 114

FANTASTIC and expensive! Located in Beverly Hill! Fresh selection in fish which melts in your mouth. Tuna is to die for and I've never had the black cod with miso soup like this anywhere else. It's pricey but worth it at least once!

Off the charts!

by Kevin D. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 12,424

This was one of the first places I went to in Los Angeles, and it met every high expectation. The flavor of the fish was off the charts, and it's somewhat of a shame because it has been hard to replicate that feeling despite trying a whole host of sushi options in Southern California. the prices are high, but for the special bursts of flavor, it's worth it.

Great, great place. Noisy, casual dining room, fantastic unique sushi dishes, celebrity crowd. Really a one of a kind restaurant. Expensive.

Great food, but not sure if the price is worth it. This is a high class establishment, where the food is premium, the service is good, the dishes are small and the prices are high. Great for date nights, but expect to pay $100 per person.

Some of the best Japanese food in L.A. Great fish. Interesting scene. Very expensive.

the exquisite, but expensive tastes of japan

by shianxiu s. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 962

i received the special treatment at the matsuhisa because i went with the c.e.o./president of sony japan. therefore, we had the top, best chefs of the house serve us. i have eaten in many japanese sushi/sashimi places throughout the u.s., and no other, beats the savoring tastes at the matsuhisa. yumyumyum. the sashimi had a lot of flavor, similar to the flavors from hokkaido, japan. oh, and the sashimi/sushi were those of the exact style as in japan.

Get the omakase

by sammietorino

I don't think anyone can say that the food isn't good here. My friends and I had the omakase and it was amazing. My favorite was the soft shell crab. The decor is really casual and tacky, but in a charming way. The only downside is that this place is not for everyday dining for the majority of us since it is pricey.

Cons: price
