When this place opened in the neighborhood we were really excited and have not been disappointed. It is helping to turn a section of Cedar street into a fun place to be in the evening. Everyone we??ve talked to that has been there says the same thing ?? it is highly recommendable.

Living just down the street from the Tilikum Place, we were thrilled to see the results of their careful renovation. They hit just the sweet spot of classy, yet casual enough you feel you can drop in any time for their outstanding menu. A great addition to the neighborhood!

My partner and I have known Ba Culbert, owner/chef, for some time. She is as gracious a person as she is an amazing chef, and this all comes together in her cafe. You will be warmly greeted and well taken care of, and indulge in the wonderful simplicity yet power of her food.Ba has a wonderful gift of combining seemingly incompatible flavors into something that you wonder "Why didn't I think of that?" Sweet and savory, subtle and powerful, her flavor combinations are not complex, just symbiotic and sure to make you want to come back for more. She worked at Palace Kitchen, Vios and at the Ruins before opening Tilikum Pace Cafe, and has a following among those she has worked with in the past - one of the last times we were in, so was Tom Douglas with four friends for dinner. You won't find a lot of pretentiousness here, just good food and good people, so if you have an attitude, leave it at the door and settle in for a wonderful dining experience.

This tucked-away caf off the Denny Triangle is soon to be one of those great neighborhood cafes, like the Volunteer Park Caf on Capitol Hill, The Bohemian in West Seattle.
Like all good neighborhood hangouts, Tilikum Place Cafe features a mellow and laid back atmosphere with inexpensive and perfectly executed and accessible food for any time of the day.

Breakfast is my favorite. In a hurry, stop there for the housemade pastries and espresso, French press coffee, fresh-squeezed juices and teas. But if you have the time, sit down and soak the place in.

TP offers a number of unique breakfast items, all for under $10. In a recent visit I had the baked eggs with wilted spinach and toasted breadcrumbs ($9) and my companion ordered the baked beans on grilled toast with fried egg and tomato ($10, reminiscent of a London starter meal.

Native Puget Sounder, Chef/owner Beth Culbert, has been in the area for nearly 15 years, having cooked at Vios on Capitol Hill and at private dinner club The Ruins on Lower Queen Anne. She's created a open and airy cafe that screams "Welcome!" -- don't hestitate to take her up on the offer.
