Avi Brockman-Alberta St Acupuncture Clinic

Avi is all-around an amazing practitioner. He is highly knowledgable and skilled in Chinese Medicine (I know this because I am a relentless question-asker and he always happily answers my questions thoroughly). He is very likeable as a person, which I find is important when working with someone in such a personal way. Avi is compassionate, patient, very LGBT friendly, listens to all my concerns, and tailors treatments specifically for my needs. He has a great sense of humor and always makes me feel at ease, which, believe me, is a feat.
When I first saw Avi, I had recently been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, a chronic pain and fatigue condition. I was honestly skeptical about acupuncture, but my doctor recommended Avi to me. He worked with me to make treatment financially accessible to me. At that time, I was in and out of a wheelchair and at times bedridden from pain, depressed, extremely tired, and generally had a very low quality of life. Avi even had to help me take off my shirt for the first treatment because I couldn't undress myself due to pain. Within weeks I saw great improvement. I've been seeing Avi now for almost one year and today, I go out dancing. DANCING. My life has become much less painful and more fulfilling. I can say without doubt that Avi has truly changed my life and I will always have the deepest gratitude for all he has done for me.

Cons: Um... too 'easy on the eyes'? haha

I have been going to Avi for just a few months for my extreme insomnia. I have tried everything except prescription sleeping pills and nothing has helped. I am already seeing improvement with Avi's acupuncture treatments, and herbs that he recommended. I was lucky to get one night of sleep before, and I'm now sleeping 2-3 nights a week. He always makes me feel comfortable, has been flexible with my schedule, and I feel like he genuinely cares. I am confident that I will be back to sleeping better than ever if I continue my treatments. I highly recommend Avi if you are looking for a caring acupuncturist that produces results.

Pros: Friendly, Caring, Flexible, Convenient, Sliding Scale

Cons: Can't think of any.

After herniating a disc in late 2003, I tried out many different acupuncturists around Portland. The acupuncture helped my pain, but I wasn't comfortable with any of the acupuncturists until I found Avi. I have been going to him for a few years now. He really listens and has helped me through a very painful time. He has a great personality and kept me optimistic during it and his positive influence has gradually helped many other areas of my life as well. For example, I don't feel the need to drink and take pills to relieve pain anymore. In addition to being gay friendly, helping prisoners and homeless, he is also vegan friendly. I recommend him to everyone!

I have been a client of Avi Brockman's off and on for several years. He does great work! His demeanor is professional, calming, open and understanding. I have gone to him for herbs, acupuncture, cupping and moxa treatments. I have a very sensitive system and Avi has really worked with me to vary our treatments to find what works best for me. He is very good about explaining what he will be doing before he does it. I appreciate that Avi takes appointments in the early evening for folks who work weekdays. The clinic is very peaceful and in a great location. I feel very comfortable working with Avi. And I appreciate that he works with such a diverse clientele. He is extremely gay friendly (i would prefer to use the "q" word but for some crazy reason this site won't let you use that word), trans friendly and works with prisoner and homeless populations. I would recommend him to anyone, especially someone who is new to trying acupuncture since he is so patient and skilled.

Avi is an excellent acupuncturist! He is calming, kind, and very skilled. I always felt listened to and heard. I have seen him for acupuncture for 2 specific long term ailments and on and off generally for a few years now. Avi is incredibly knowledgeable and went the extra mile to research the best herbs and techniques for me. I really like acupuncture and needles, and stll Avi was careful and slow, checking in with me. The clinic is a beautiful space, each room is a joy to be in, but I like the red room best. If you have pain, he's excellent at abating it. Avi is very accessible--I always feel comfortable under his care. He is busy and popular, but he fit me in when I thought it was an emergency. He also works with prisoners and the homeless. He's just an all around great guy, and an excellent acupuncturist.
