Stone Therapy ok but only 40 mins compared to the hour they promised. The Chemical Peel was ok but the girl lacked a lot of info. The weave for my hair- 6 hours- the girl didnt know a thing and totally unsupervised. No one ever supervised anything but the cut. The cut was by a guy and he did pretty good. They are money hungry. Prices too high for a college. Promises not kept. I loved Skinworks and Sherman Kendall was ok, lots better than Cameo!

I had an appointment to get a facial at 4:30 PM. At 4:20 PM I was close to the college but wasn't quite sure where is was. When I called to get the address they put me on hold for 20 minutes. When i figured out by myself how to get there they said I had missed my appointment! It was their fault for putting me on hold! But they wouldn't take the blame for it. I didn't reschedule, not if they were going to be that unprofessional!
My first experience at Cameo was an eyelash perm. I had never gotten this before, so didn't know what to expect. I left the college 25$ (20$ service, 5$ tip) poorer looking EXACTLY the same. I didn't know if it was the quality of the service that was bad, or that an eyelash perm just didn't work for me, either way I left with nothing. Next, I went in for eyelash extensions since it was apparent that a perm wasn't going to work. It took 3hrs 45mins and the whole time the girl was sighing and seeming very frustrated. She kept pushing down on my lashes and plucking and reapplying. When I opened my eyes I had glue all over my lids. I do amateur extensions for my friends and family and have never gotten glue on actual skin! So someone who I had to assume had at least taken a class on them could be sooo messy baffled me. But the person who came to supervise said that my lashes looked wonderful so under all that glue i assumed it did. The room was rather dark and I couldn't see my lashes very well, also I was now late for an appointment so I quickly paid the 100$ and then tipped the girl 20$ and hurry went on my way. When I had gotten home to actually look at myself...it scared me. All my lashes were glued together...every..single...one. Some of the lashes were turned downward and several clumps were already falling out and some lashes were glued to my actual eye lid. I had just paid 120$ for these, I knew they were students, but I have done fantastic work on friends without any training so assumed someone who was taking classes would do at the very least as well as me. I was wrong. Now, I'm confident in saying that the students are poorly educated, and the supervisor staff could careless about the quality they are giving customers. I quickly plucked out all the lashes taking with them most of my own, but I couldn't stand the itch on my lids and the terrible lash job. Look elsewhere for lash extensions, a professional job doesn't cost much more than what I paid.
Pros: Friendly students
Cons: Terrible results
I love the facials but they are often shorter than they advertise. I expect to get what I paid for. When I complained Holly the manager was very rude and didn't listen to my complaint stating they are students.
Pros: I like the facials
Cons: They are often shorter than what you pay for
K so I have to put my two sense, yes Cameo does have a great education I couldn't ask for a better way to cut hair but I do have some issues with the school it seems like they try every way they can to squeeze an extra dollar out of you I understand that being at school is the only way your going to learn but I've had some family issues that I need to attend to and because I didnt have doctors notes they suspended me it's a college it's not like I told the teacher to F-off in some cases I would love to but still I'm paying a lot of money to go to this school and if I need to miss a few days then I should be able to with out consequence I'm paying to be here another thing we have a certain amount of hours that we have to be there to graduate in my case 2000 and I've noticed that if I stay 10 min after I'm supposed to because I'm with a client I dont get that time it has to be more than 15 min. in order for it to count, but dont you think we should be getting that time I am there and I'm working so the owner can get more money but dont you think I deserve that time I think it's another way to make us pay more at the end because if they dont count it, it goes against us in the end I could transfer to another school but at this point just with 800 hours I have with cameo it would cost me $12,000 not including my kit and books and everything else cameo would tack on and the schooling's only 15,500 now is that highway robbery or what
Pros: good education, love my instructors
Cons: money hungry doesnt seem like to students are important
My wife and I received services at CAMEO and were extremely disappointed. I went with an understanding that it IS a school, and the prices are lower, therefore the professionalism or services received would likely be less quality. However, we left not only feeling unclean, but also as if we had been robbed of our $110. I received a facial, which was no more than a light patting of oils and creams onto my face- no massage techniques, no working the muscles or anything. Included with the "facial" was a hand and foot massage, which again, was no more than a gentle rubbing of lotion onto my foot- again, no massage. I had even put "firm" onto the form I filled out for the type of massage I would like. Also, the bed linens were extremely dirty, and a little damp from the previous customer. It was gross. My wife received a full body spa service, and she said the tub was very dirty, and the student just cleaned it by spraying some water on it- no actual cleaning. Also, her service was misleading-no more than a light spreading of lotion over her body. The student did not perform any kind of massage technique. I know they're students, but nothing was done that we could not have done ourselves easily at home for under $5 and without education. In addition, my 1 hour 45 minute facial, and her 2 hour body spa service both only lasted 1 hour 15 minutes. This is something they can control, students or not. The website was quite misleading. Both students were very nice however, and so at the end it was quite awkward when they bring you to the front desk to pay and then ask you to rate the service performed with them standing right there. The student who performed services for my wife didn't even ask, we saw her just give herself a 4 out of 5 automatically. After we left, my wife noticed my facial skin was quite dry and red. I assume there are some top notch students studying there, but in our side by side experience in different areas of the building with different students, we both noticed the same dirty environment and poor techniques.
Pros: POTENTIAL to be a nice place..
Cons: Dirty, Service Time, Poor Techique
The owner, Kelly Whitworth, refuses to pay me for training because I opted to not work there. We live in a right to work state, which means either party can terminate employment at any reason at any time. Nothing was stated beforehand about non-payment if training wasn't completed. I emailed her asking about payment, and she flat out refused to pay me, because I didn't chose to work there.
In regards to Cameo College of Essential Beauty... It is a nice facility that offers many opportunites for motivated students.... however we are worked worked worked. I was excited to go to Cameo because of the reputation it holds, and the Esthetics courses offered versus other colleges in UT. Being a Cameo student I have realized that it does offer advanced classes and treatments; just being able to learn those correctly is the hard part. There is not enough time to learn, this is a school and I think many agree, it is worked more like a business. We are there to take appointments, yes this can be a good thing, but not 4 out of the 5 days we are there. We get plenty of practice with your basics (facials, pedicures, manicures) but taking a course offered as MASTER ESTHETICS I feel as though more advanced treatments (peels, micros, dermasound, etc) should be a larger focus. To get us ready for the real world we need EDUCATION too; sure we may have resources more readily available, however, I can buy the books we use online and teach myself just as much as I am learning there. But being comfortable with clients is important too, maybe just to a lesser extent... more balance between education and appointments would be good!! If you are looking for a college to attend, make sure they offer good education along with being able to take appointments!! Organization is helpful as well!!

Oh I have to comment on the post left by Dream2Dream. Hey Valerie your underwear were in a bunch when you wrote this post did someone cut you off on the freeway today. So did you wake up every morning and chose to be bitter about Cameo and the rules or did you act like an adult. Oh by the way I to am a former Cameo student and I would have to say with all my experience with other professionals in this industry I would say that I have learned way more than most. The current Cameo esthetics instructors know more then you every will about esthetics and you and I both know that you never taught any chemistry class. So maybe you should take your own advice that you made after a former Sanctuary employee slammed on you and think about maybe school was bad because you made it that way. Because you said it yourself life is what you make it right? Oh and so everyone knows that if you want to graduate on time you have to actually go to school and not make it hard on yourself like Valerie did. Oh and Valerie don?t you think that because of your education and the information you took from Cameo got you to the position you have today being the Manager of Sanctuary. Think about it!! So everyone if you are thinking about visiting Cameo for a service or becoming a student don?t take Valerie?s advice and go there and make your own opinion. Because she is one of the hundreds of students that graduate from Cameo each year and her opinion doesn?t matter, because she wants to act like a high school student and hold a grudge.
I am a retired Cosmetology Instructor from the state of Arizona. I was visiting a friend in Salt Lake City, Utah for the 4th of July. She had scheduled us an appointment for an European facials at Cameo College. I have never worked at or experienced such professionalism and cleanliness in my life. The college is absolutely gorgeous and spotlessly clean. It is nicer than most professional spa's. The entire experience was top notch from the receptionist who greeted us promptly and professionally to the Esthetics students who did the service and the cashier that rang up the sale. The education is superior at Cameo, it was the best 1 1/2 hours I have spent being pampered in my life. They used Dermalogica and Glymed products and my skin just glowed when I left. I was so relaxed I did not want to get off the heated treatment table when the service ended. Kudos to Cameo educators, students, staff and owner.
Pros: Facility, education and staff
Dream2Dream obviously dreamed too much during school or was too busy getting excited over busting atoms with their own genitals--WHAT A WACKO! This school is fantastic and the instructors are top notch! I believe this individual to have personal issues that will carry on with them the rest of their lives. Cameo has come a long way over the last few years and provide the best prices and an array of services--GO CAMEO! I love that place.
Pros: The facility, instructors, students, and price.
I am a graduate of Cameo College and have traveled to several conventions and trainings and know for a fact that Cameo offers an amazing education!!! Students across the country are NOT getting the education or client experience that we get at Cameo....they are a leader in education and strive to offer the newest and best. You definatley have to work hard and take responsibility for your own education to get the most out of it.....but what a great opportunity to be a graduate of one of the top schools in the country!
Pros: Newest programs
Cons: You are super busy with clients, so if you are lazy this could be a con
I am a graduated student of Cameo College of Essential Beauty. When I saw this opportunity to comment about my experiences I was so EXCITED!!!! I know you hold your business in high regards and take things personal when attacked with constructive critisizm, so, hold on! I want everyone to know that going to school at Cameo was my BIGGEST mistake EVER made! My expectations were never fullfilled in any degree the ENTIRE time I went to school. I also need to express my frustration towards the instructors there. Come on Brenda, they were so uneducated that I ended up teaching the Chemistry portion to the class instead of listening to your instructor try to relate the atom to a male and female genital body part. I also want to tell everyone that I NEVER saw organization in there teachings or trainings. I would literally go to school and hear lecturing on how we are not taking enough appointments during the day and how we need to follow protocols that were NEVER taught to us in the beginning and then after about 45 minutes of lecturing I would be pulled down to the "Day Spa" to take appointments (Pedicures, facial, body treatments and more) until the last hour of the day and then be required to clean up and leave. (No lunches)I rarely on occation would have a theory hour that was actually some what well taught or I should correctly say well read out of a book. Other times I was FORCED to take appointments or get harsh punishment which consist of demerits of my points towards graduation. The Cameo college is able to charge their students for any MINUTE of overage past their expected graduation date. VERY VERY rarely will you EVER have a student from cameo graduate on their expected date. The day spa is disgusting and messy. They would also never have enough clean towels for the treatments which would result to the students to buy their own. In our contract they were suppose to furnish these things... Oh boy I have so much more to say, but I am running out of characters..
Pros: not a chance!
Cons: instructors, management, teachings(lack of) enciroment, no lunch breaks, filthy enviroment
The advertisement for the treatment I chose proudly reads ?75-Minute European Facial?. I was really excited going into the treatment and I had very high expectations. I used to live in Indianapolis a year ago and I regularly visited a beauty college for my beauty needs. And so, subconciously, I was imagining the same experience.
The student who worked on me was rather nice and she did take good care of me. But the facial itself lastest about 30 minutes (versus the 75 minutes your website promises). Before we?d really gotten off to a start she happily chirped, ?We?re done!?
I had had a good converasion with her and so I didn?t know how to express myself and say that I was disappointed with the experience. I feel a little deceived and voiceless. I don?t think I got my $$$ worth. I was in disbelief when I saw the time. But I didn?t know how I could dispute it with the student. I think your website is very misleading. It sets the standard very high with the pictures and descriptions but the actual procedure fell grossly short of my expectations.
Also, the questionnaire/disclaimer I was asked to fill out specifically asked if I liked a firm or a gentle massage and I ticked ?firm?. But the student was very gentle and gentle slowly became ineffective. I don?t think I was paired with an apprciate specialist who could help fulfill my needs.
I would not reccommend this place to anyone! I have visited Cameo's competitor - Skinworks, and they do an accurate job of matching the description and the actual service. I was thoroughly misled and I would never want anyone else to be in my predicament.
Pros: Prices, ambience
Cons: poor service, deceptive advertising
I've been to many day spas and beauty schools. And Cameo is, without a doubt, the nicest facility, the best education and offers the most satisfying treatments. Their services are priced so low that you definitely get MORE than you pay for. Of course, these ARE students performing the services on you. They are learning every day with every appointment and of course the best way to learn is through experience, whether it be a good experience or a bad one. Highly recommended.
Pros: Low prices, relaxing atmosphere, friendly students and staff
In this review it has a section that states how to word and rate any company, business etc. that you want. One of the suggestions is "Compare apples to apples: Burger joints shouldn't be held to the same standards as four-star restaurants" I would like to make sure that i come off the right way. A SCHOOL CAN NOT BE COMPARED WITH A FULL FLEDGE WORKING SPA/SALON!!!
I have been to Cameo many many times this year and feel that the comment made by the person saying she would not recommend this place to anyone, is Highly Highly Mistaken. I believe that CAMEO is a wonderful place filled with wonderful minds and hearts! The STUDENTS that are learning do an amazing job with what little training they have at the time!!! When someone comes in to get a service done i believe they view the STUDENTS as employees... They do not work for the SCHOOL they pay to attend the school and get the best education available in the state of UTAH! How else are they going to learn how to be professionals?! That is how any school is.... the student must learn the technique on a live human! you take a chance by going to ANY school!! I would ABSOLUTELY reccommend CAMEO COLLEGE OF ESSENTIAL BEAUTY to ANYONE and EVERYONE!!! GREAT JOB GIRLS... and the few GUYS!!! The more people that go in for services the better the students will be upon completion!! If it was your Son or Daughter that was going to school in this field would you support them? I would!! and I DO!!!
Pros: Great prices, Fun people, amazing services.
Cons: Parking is tight.
I happen to think that Cameo College is a fantastic place to go and be pampered at a reasonable price. I enjoy the services I receive on a regular basis and would recommend Cameo or a Cameo graduate to anyone. I will say not every experience is the same because some students are farther and more experienced in their education but they were beginners once as well. They have to learn some how and that happens to be on those that CHOOSE to experience the services from a SCHOOL. I have witnessed patrons that have come in and expected experts out of the LEARNING students and break down any confidence that the students may have in their selves in seconds because they went in with too high of expectations for a SCHOOL and took all their frustrations out on the student. I Just happen to love the fact that I am contributing to their education and helping them progress in their talents even if the services aren't at a professional level at times because they aren't professionals...yet- they are students. Anyway, I love Cameo and recommend it to anyone unless you don't understand what the definition of SCHOOL and STUDENT means. Which basically in a nutshell means that there are no guarantees but I would say more often than not, I have received professional QUALITY services from a supervised STUDENT.
Pros: Great prices and quality work!
Cons: You may get a less experienced student, which is still okay... they all need to learn. Also, very limited parking.
Cameo College is a fantasic place to go to get almost anything done!! The do anything from cuts and styles to skin specialty treatments! The students are great at what they do, ambitious and most of all KIND. Of course it is a college... meaning NO garentees, NO promises, & of course just like at ANYother business, restuarant, store or spa; you have the chance of getting a sour sally, or ditzy dana. Over all it is a relaxing atmosphere in the day spa and an upbeat friendly atmosphere in the salon. This is a great way to get a bit of a cheaper price while helping the students at the same time!
Pros: You actually end up getting more and paying less!
Cons: some people tend to forget, it is a SCHOOL, so there are no promises.
My experience at Cameo Spa could not have been more unpleasant. While the students are very nice, they are completely unqualified to be performing the services they say they can perform. Also, while it is posted all over the website, as well as throughout the entire salon, ?supervised students? means absolutely nothing. The time estimated for any treatment, minus the spa skin care, will take a minimum of double the time. While acrylic nails are ?guaranteed for two days,? mine started falling off after two hours. I had to pay $70 to have them soaked and redone for my sisters wedding, and the owner of Cameo refused to even pay me back for the horrible job done by her staff/students. I was offered no compensation and told that had that been the case, they would needed to see how bad they were. (a written statement from another salon would not have been proof enough, along with a bill from the very same day) I would NEVER recommend this place to ANYONE. The services are very cheap, but so is the quality. You will pay MUCH more getting their mistakes fixed. I would go so far to say, I would never schedule an appointment with a cameo spa graduate, if the school feels their students are ready to work on paying clients, they probably allow them to graduate with the bare minimum knowledge as well.
Pros: Cheap Prices
Cons: Cheap quality, Unqualified students, Mistakes that will cost a ton to fix, the list goes on .
Cameo College has a beautiful Day Spa in connection with it's esthetician program. I've been there for facials and spa pedicures several times. The environment is pleasant and the students are always very professional. Don't be discouraged because it's a school, this place is a smokin good deal for pampering.
