Republic Moving and Storage

I had a horrible experience with this company. For starters, I was given a start time between 10am - 12 pm ... my movers didn't arrive until 2 pm so they started late. The company only sent 2 people and it took them 10 hours to move out a 2 bedroom apartment. They didn't finish until 11 pm that night ... UNACCEPTABLE! My last move the company sent like 6 - 7 people and they were done within 3 hours tops. I lived on the 2nd floor of the building but damn, come on. I had already had EVERYTHING laid out for them in stacks. All the furniture had been taken apart and the paintings were all off the walls BEFORE they arrived. Literally all there was to be done was to put it in boxes and get it down to the truck ... took 10 hours. The manager was clueless when I called to request more people and he told me they only send out 2 people per job. I think that's ridiculous. I'll NEVER recommend this company to anyone and I have nothing good to say about them. Terrible moving company. Also, they send out a person to do a survey on your place for "convenience". Well all it did was complicate things, when the movers arrived they acted like they were overwhelmed and said it was more stuff than they expected. Well what the heck was the survey for? During the survey we specifically told the person we had new phone numbers and he said he'd update it. He didn't, I never received a courtesy call prior to my move and I had to end up calling the company to see what was going on the day of my move only to find out they were still trying to call my old number and they weren't on schedule.

This company is shady, they ask for your review so I did. I initially posted this on their Facebook page and they deleted it. How disgusting. I'm pretty sure they don't have 100 % customer satisfaction.

Upon completion of my move, the movers and I discovered that my 1 year old 42' Flat Screen television did not work. We annotated the issue on the required paperwork and I contacted Republic Moving and Storage immediately. I was asked to submit paperwork and I did this immediately. The Claims Department contacted me and said that someone would be out the next week to take a look at the TV.

After waiting for a week, I tried to get in touch with the Claims Department. Numerous voicemails and emails went unreturned for over a week. When I finally caught the Claims Department in the office, I was told that since they never saw the TV actually work, they would not honor my claim.

I do not reccomend using Republic for a move and if you do.... make the movers document that everything works before they pack it up.

I would like to express my appreciation for a move your company make with me and my personal belongings. The move was short notice and it happened the afternoon of 31 March 2010. The original movers I had lined up bailed out on me at the last moment. Your receptionist was very polite and concerned with my predicament. She did a fantastic job working with dispatch to get 3 men to complete my move the next day. The men you provided worked hard and fast. I want to especially thank Salvador and Danny who made the move as smoothly as could be possible given the circumstances. I will recommend your company to friends and coworkers who need to hire a moving company. Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart. My wife and I are happy and in our new home.

Thank you and your professional team for the wonderful local move yesterday (Sunday 2/28/10.) This is the second time that I have asked your company to do something quite out of the ordinary. From all of the preparatory phone calls and special delivery requests to the early start, long day, and delicately moving a grand piano down two spiral sets of stairs, we were treated with care and concern by each one of your good natured employees. Please pass on my gratitude to Lindsey, Terry, Paul, Mark, Art, George, and anyone else who was involved with making our turbulent transition go so smoothly. They worked so hard and we could not believe how careful they were when placing all our belongings into the truck and then into our home.
They are a good mover.
