SP Plumbing and Heating is a complete disappointment. They claimed that I had made several past appointments that I cancelled because their costs were too high. This was definitely not the case so I was more than a little irritated when I asked for specific detail and they refused or could not to provide it. The manager also would not return several calls for an explanation. Stay away from these guys. There are plenty of reputable plumbers out there!

I was so incredibly dissappointed and actually hurt by the service that was provided to me from this company.

Our furnace in our house went out and we called SPPHA becasue it was local. They gave us a quote of $98.00 to come look at the furnace and $70.00 for every 15 minutes there. Seems ridiculous amount to come LOOK at our furnace. The guy came and looked at it and quoted us almost $1,000 to fix it. It was simply dirty and had a fuse shorted. Probably $10.00 for the supplies and the rest was labor costs. We declined the service.

Only to find out a few days later that they charged our credit card $386 for simply coming to LOOK at our furnace and tell us it was dirty and needed to be cleaned out and fuse switched out. I called to find out why it was so much when it should have only been around $160. I talked to the man in charge, Dave or David, and told him my situation. He said it was charged so much because it was overtime and would cost $280 AN HOUR. And that the technician wrote down that he was there for an hour and 11 minutes.
I told him that it takes 5-10 minutes to look at the furnace and I don't know what he was doing the other 50 minutes he said he was there but I wanted the charges taken away. David said the best he could do was take $50.00 off the bill. I said that wasn't good enough because I don't know what the technician was doing there for over an hour when he only had 5 minutes of work. David told me he could have been filling out paperwork or other things. I said that if I would have known that, I would have had him step off my property and do the paperwork so that I wouldn't be charged $280.00 an hour.
Basically David said I could take the $50.00 off or not and that was the best he could do for me. As I cried as I hungup the phone, I feel so scammed. How can a business treat people like this. Reading other peoples reviews on this company, I see I am not the first one that has been treated so poorly. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not give these scammers business. I don't want you to have to go through what they've done to me.

Terrible! Do not use this company -- they do not deserve to do business in our community. They will scam you on price and, more importantly, not stand by their work. They charged a crazy amount to fix a leaking toilet. When it was still leaking after they left I called back to have them come back or refund my money. They have done neither and are not returning my calls. Please select a different company and give your business to honest, reliable people.

Dispatcher will lie to you claiming she doesn't know the price to fix a basic valve, even though she has a price guide. They charge $69 to come look, then want $430 for a 15 minute repair of a bad shut-off valve. Have a bad valve? Order a Floodmaster Speedy valve for $13, repair in 5 minutes, save $417.

I called this company because I needed a new garbage disposal installed. I had already purchased the garbage disposal at Menards - it was on sale - and just needed someone to help with the installation. I called this company to come out and install the new disposal. The guy opened the cupboard door, looked at the old disposal, and wrote up a quote of $390.00!

I wish I would have researched pricing for this work earlier. I had them do it because I thought well, OK, if that's what it will cost...

I am very disappointed in this company - they truly are scam artists. They prey on those that don't fully understand the work needing to be done. What happened to the "good guys?" The repair men and women that come out, access your problem, fully explain what they will be doing to solve it, and charging a fair price to do so.

Please, learn from my mistake and do not use this company.

They came out to fix a leaking toilet and charged $478 labor for 75 minutes work. And that was during normal week day hours. I will not use them again!

We discovered that the drain pipes going down into the basement were corroded and leaking. We called STP Plumbing & Heating up again and the scheduled service between 2-4 the next day. I arrived home for the scheduled appointment time and Jennifer called at 2:40 to say that someone was available and was heading out. I live less than 2 miles from their STP location, so I figured they would easily be there in the next 30 minutes. At 3:58 the service truck comes rolling up out front. The plumber, Tim, comes in the house and takes a look at the sink and then goes into the basement to look at the troubled drain pipes. He determines that it's larger task than he was prepared to take on and I would need to schedule another appointment for him to come back out. If he did any work this evening, it would be considered overtime. I asked is he could at minimum give me an estimate, so I would know what we were looking at for cost. After about 10 minutes in the truck, he came back in with an estimate of 3.5-4 hours and $850 for the repair. He also stated that I needed to pay $150+ for the service call today. I was a bit appalled by the events that were transpiring and was already on the phone with Tamara. After putting me on hold for several minutes, Tamara said that I needed to pay the service call even though he had arrived only minutes ago. I expressed my concerns for the service I was receiving. Tamara then put me on hold again. Upon returning to the phone, she told me that there was no need to pay and that St.Paul Plumbing & Heating would not be able to perform my repairs. I proceeded to void the check I was writing and told Tim that Tamara said that his company would not be providing me with service. His radio began scream "blah, blah" - literally "blah, blah" - as one of the girls from the office attempted to contact him. He left and I am still a little dumbfounded by what transpired. Since I wasn't happy with their service, they just left. Strange but true!

Business Response:

We tried to make things right We contacted the customer regarding her issues. We credited her account. She did say she was going to do what she could to hurt the company. The technician did try to help her out.
.

Our furnace broke down, so we called the number left on the furnace by the previous owner of our house. I described the problem with the furnace and they were able to walk me through a process to clean the "filbet" (or something like that) - which worked - at no charge!! It turned out that the dust created by a home project had causes this part to be dusty, which was shutting down the furnace.

It's not common to find a company willing to help, rather than charging $75 an hour for a simple process.

Please note: I'm not saying that ALL furnace issues can be explained over the phone, but in this case, I highly recommend St. Paul Plumbing and Heating.
