customer service needs improvement

by Amanda P. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 6,528

I made an appointment for a 1 hour massage one week in advance due to a special they were running for $50. I thought it was a great deal, made my appointment to go in and didn't hear from them about any problems......Until about an hour and a half from my assigned time to come in, they called me and told me that the person who was supposed to do my massage was out of town and could not get back for 2 days or more! I found this to be very rude and unprofessional to say the least. The receptionist was cordial at best and offered no apology for my inconvenience. She was not even accommodating in making me an appointment at their first available time. I was going to have to wait another entire week! So, I went across the street to a spa closer to my home and got a massage right then, which I feel was the best one I've ever had! I will not ever call caribbean day spa again and advise them to work on their customer service. Not a good way to run a business!

Owner of Caribbean Day Spa Response to complaints

by charityfranklin

First off let me introduce myself, my name is Charity Franklin. I have been in this business for twenty years. I wanted to address the complaints on google, and to explain that we appreciate all comments, and use them to build ourselves up to a better facility. Simple mistakes are easy to learn from and correct. I take pride in this spa, and strive to treat all clients with respect in a professional way. I'm taking this time to bring attention to the fact that all situations have been addressed. We appreciate your business.

Pros: We are a quaint spa that people really enjoy!

Cons: None

Worst experiance Ive ever had at a spa.

by hthrsly

Ive been to this spa twice and the second time was even more unprofessional than the first. The personal doesn't seem to realize that the walls are very thin and I spent the first treatment (a body wrap) listening to them loudly gossip about other customers. The technician stepped out of the room for me to get undressed and put on a robe, right when I was standing there undressed she burst through the door without knocking. I'm not shy per say but I was taken aback this is not good spa ethics. I wasn't overly offended so I kept my second appointment a few days later for an airbrush tan. It was the worst "spa" experience Ive ever had. The technician didn't bother to put blocking cream on my hands, feet, knees, and elbows. When I asked, she claimed I wouldn't need it. Again, the staff could be clearly heard complaining through the walls. At one point the owner came in to check on why the spray gun wasn't working properly (it was shooting large splatters all over, which turned out to be because it needed to be cleaned), so I asked her about the blocking cream. She looked taken aback and said "She didn't put any on you?!" She then left the room where I heard her say to the girl "did you not use cream on her?" The girl responded "This formula doesn't really need it. Why? Is she throwing a fit?" The owner responded "Just put it on her to make her happy." There were children running and yelling up and down the hallways, even banging on the door of my treatment room during my treatment to which the technician yelled "GO AWAY". I ended up with orange hands, feet, and elbows. The rest of my body was streaky and uneven. My Fiance got airbrushed right after me and his tan was equally orange, streaky, and uneven. We left for Hawaii the next day. I wast there to hear first hand but he later told me the owner of the shop made him feel very uncomfortable with her comments while I was out of the room. Between the two trips we spent $250.00 which could have been well worth it in any traditional relaxing spa. These were not good experiences and a complete waste of money. I will never go back and would not recommend them to anyone.

Pros: none

Cons: unproffesional, noisy children, bad service

BEST PACKAGES FOR THE PRICE AND VERY ACCOMODATING

by BESTSECRET

I had a Mother-To-Be package recently at the Caribbean Day Spa and I loved it!! Their staff was so wonderful and accomodating to my situation since I was traveling and pregnant-I will definitely go back! I noticed another review on here where they talked about the website saying it looked like a mansion-well I definitely was told by their great staff that it is a small spa and not a huge spa like you see on the strip! It may not have been a mansion, but I was definitely treated like a queen!! I got an amazing pregnancy massage followed by a facial. The massage therapist and the aesthetcician were just what I needed!! They have the best prices in town and if you are looking for a small, quaint, relaxing environment and away from all the hussle and bussle of the strip-this is the place to be!! I will definitely be back!!

Pros: everything...

Cons: none

Best Pedicure Hot Rock Foot Treatment Very Natural and Sanitary

by SPAGOERS

I went to the spa last week and had a Spa foot treatment , Air brush Spray Tan, Facial and Massage. I do have to say that the Foot Treatment I was worried cause I read a review about the natural authentic buckets, but I still gave them a call to see how these treatments were done it seemed interesting to me very natural. The technician informed me that the reason they do them in sanitary natural bucket from Mexico very nice with hot stone rocks in them is for sanitary reasons , Other spas have had a lot of trouble with the jets they hold alot of mildew and creat alot fugus they can never get out of the jets. I could sure appreciate the reasoning behind this and thought it was a great way they were sanitized completely after every use. It is a natural and authentic way of doing a Fooot Treatment. I then decided to book the appointment. Your not just in a bucket you feel like your on a kings thrown it was great. There is a picture of it on the website too.... This Pedicure Foot Treatment was the best I ever had. The Owner did the treatment she was very nice and pleasent very knowledgable and has her own product line in the spa Every treatment is themed she asks you what scent you wanted, the hot rocks were in the soak and natural herbal tea and oils. They also offer a cup a tea to theme the pediure. This Spa is a more natural like spa and fits the Caribbean Theme . They accomodate everyone individualy. This Spa is definatley what a person needs due to the stress of this economy is giving , you feel very relaxed and comfortable. My Massage and Facial girl was great too. One of the therapist told me she was employed with one of the major hotel spas as well as this local spa. I will be back to this spa definately. It very inviting.....

Pros: Thumbs up definatly

Don't waste your time and money

by jennybelle

I received a gift certificate for my birthday that had a pedicure, facial, one tanning session and a hand treatment on it. I first went for my pedicure and hand treatement. Pedicure was just ok. Nothing great and found it odd that I soaked my feet in a bucket. After the pedicure, the girl informed me that she didn't have time to do my hand treatement and that I would need to come back another day. About two months later I made an appt for a facial. I received a call about 1/2 hour before my appt to advise the girl had to go home sick. I asked if I could come in for a massage instead. She said I could at 12:00 PM. Around 11:00, I get a message advising me they are "running late" but did not say how late. I called back a total of SEVEN times and all I got was a generic mailbox. Finally, on my 8th call, the girl said I could come in at 12:30. So I show up at 12:30 only to be told I would have to wait an additional 15 minutes. FINALLY, after waiting 40 minutes, the girl walks out to tell me the person who was going to do my massage LEFT! He wasn't even in the building. I sat there for 40 minutes for nothing. The girl wasn't even sympathitic and all she did was offer to reschedule. There is NO WAY I would ever go back to that spa. They have no organization and their customer service is awful

Pros: NONE!

Cons: It all sucked

AMAZING ! ! Highly recommend

by iixii

My husband and I took a trip to Vegas and I have been trying and trying to get my husband into a Spa were we live locally but he has a preconceived notion that Spas are for women ONLY. But I guess he figured what happens in vegas stays in Vegas so we went I called and spoke with th owner and explained my husbands "issues". Not only did her staff do an AMAZING job on ALL four seperate treatments we selected they treated us with great respect and comfort. My husband LOVED his massage and the overall atmosphere (I loved that he got a Pedicure) so much it may be hard to live up to at any future locations I may convience him to try.

Pros: Amazing Staff, Really listened to specific requests and concerns

Best facial EVER

by beebella

I had the best facial EVER today at Caribbean Day Spa. The atmosphere was very relaxing and appeared to be EXTREMELY sanitary. My facial included a neck, shoulder AND hand massage, all of which were WONDERFUL. The esthetician addressed all of my skin concerns and was very thorough. One hour left me totally rejuvenated , and I immediately rescheduled to come back in two weeks. Everyone was super-friendly and I recommend this place to anyone wanting to receive a professional treatment in an intimate setting.

Pros: tropical decor, parking, customer service, exotic herbal teas

Less than Mediocre

by abaybayd

I visited this spa a few months ago for a couples package. I pass by it often during my commute to work and wanted to experience it first hand, as opposed to other larger spas. I was expecting the day to be very relaxing for my husband and myself. Upon arrival, we were not greeted by the receptionist, who had came from the back of the salon looking quite unkempt. When we were finally brought into the room for our massage, as they shut the door for us to get unchanged, my husband and I noticed that the sheets on the massage beds looked dirty and stained. No doubt the massage was wonderful, when it came time for the facial, there was only one person working on us at the same time. The employee continously rotated between working on us and we both felt that we didn't get as much focus on us as we had during our massages. Rather than this being a relaxing and rejuvinating experience, we felt neglected. Next, we were off to our pedicures, which were done in buckets. BUCKETS! It seemed unsanitary and unproffesional. I could soak my feet at home in a bucket. I have been to many salons in my life time and I have grown to prefer salons with cleanliness, professionalism and a true desire to please their customers. This was the first salon in which I did not enjoy. While the massage was good, the cumulative service and experience will definately not make my husband or myself a returning customer.

Pros: Massage

Cons: Unclean, Lack of customer service, unprofessional

Wonderful Massage

by penmouse

I came to Caribbean Day Spa a few weekends ago for a massage. I was super tense and sore at the beginning of the massage, but my therapist worked out all the knots in my muscles. By the end of the hour, I was refreshed and super relaxed. My friend had a massage with another therapist (not sure of her name), and she was also very happy with his experience. The spa is is cute and clean and the staff are friendly. I would go back anytime.

Pros: great deals

Extremely poor customer service

by grtgmadeb

The massage and facial I received and the massage my daughter received were superior. I would recommend those individuals anytime. However, this mother/daughter special was very disappointing. The young lady on the desk was apparantly aware the day before there was a scheduling problem and we were not informed. We waited over an hour for the hairdresser while being told things like, "She's behind; we apologize for the delay" Then when speaking with the hairdresser we found out she knew the day before she was overbooked, and could only squeeze in one of us to do hair. I understand scheduling snafus but I don't understand being lied to and strung along. Had they told us ahead of time I probably would have kept the appointment and just been mildly disappointed. Also, the advertised champange lunch was out of a styrofoam box balanced on our laps. My daughter said her salad was wilted and the young lady doing her pedicure was the one on the front desk so she kept leaving her while she took care of phones. I also noticed another customer left without gettiing her massage because of scheduling issues. A very disappointing time to what was supposed to be a fun and relaxing time for my daughter ane me. No value received for money paid even with the last minute discount for the stylist fees.

Pros: massage service excellent as is the facial

Cons: extremely poor customer service and management
