I had heard a lot about this store through my friends, so just thought of giving it a try. It was a remarkable experience there. My shirts and trousers fit me so well, even better than the earlier store. I?ve become a fan of this store.

I dragged my husband in for his new wardrobe-he still has suits from the 80?s!!! I am always skeptical but this is a great experience. I liked it so much I even bought womens shirts for myself-I love them. Alan is great, he even won me over and for what they sell the prices are great. My husband bought 3 zegna sportcoats all under $1000 each. I was in the Zegna store and Alan is much cheaper. I think they make everything at a place called Samuelson in Canada. Whatever, check them out.

I?m a raving fan now. I had always shopped at Lord & Taylor but my legal profession (as well as my ever expanding stomach) now forces me to wear custom shirts and suits. Prices are really fair and turnaround time is great-just 10 days for my suit to arrive. I work next door and sometimes just stop in to hang out-these salespeople and Alan are really great-honest till the day is long. Highly recommended.

i could not imagine a better experience. the suits came out perfect, i have never worn a better suit. 3 weeks. you get to know him and quickly realize he does not take shortcuts, he has a family reputation to protect and it shows. thank you alan david.

I just completed my second fitting for my new custom suit, the whole process took three short and easy (15-30min) sessions, over three weeks. Total time was 3 weeks to a perfect suit. Shirts are also excellent. I had previously been to another tailor here in NYC and it was a terrible experience. Alan David is genuine and he has a personal goal of making the suit perfect. It is a four generation family buisness that has pride. I have already referred him to two of my collegues and they are happy as well.

I am 57 years old and have been buying custom made suits my whole life due to my ?generous? proportions. I have gone from shop to shop the last few years, trying to find a replacement tailor for Sulka where I used to shop. The garments that this place makes fit perfectly-I mean perfectly. They have every imaginable fabric from Zegna to Scabal to Loro Piana. I have never been so happy with fit. I made my first purchase from Alan David 2 years ago. One navy blue custom suit just to try. It fit so well I thought it was a fluke so again I ordered one solid charcoal suit. SAME RESULT!!! I now get everything there. I cannot tell you the misery I had been through with other tailors. These guys make it easy. It?s like a well oiled machine. 1. Pick fabric 2. fitting on this day 3. 2nd fitting and pickup. Get in and get out. They ship all over so I never have to carry anything. If you need a great fit, look no further.

I live in Moosic PA and everytime I am in the city I stop by to see Alan. I originally found these guys online and was very hesitant but they deliver the goods. I like the fact that they always have something cooking there, always fabric that they manage to get their hands on. Yesterday I bought a blue and grey pinstripe-super 180s for only $1,395. They showed me the fabric being marked down from $400 a yard to $75 a yard. I do not know how many yards are in a suit but Alan told me the suit is a $5000 value so how the heck can you beat that-full custom suits at 75% off-I took 2 of them. Look them up, they are good operation,

My colleague turned me on to Alan David. I just picked up 5 suits and 2 jackets. I paid about $7000 for the whole package but what amazing fabrics. One softer than the other. I was scared to spend so much but people swear by Alan so I tried and got a home run. Also, Alan is really out for your best interests. Instead of putting everything into work at once, he suggested we try one to make sure the fit was fine. And I only paid for one. Can you imagine if it wouldn?t have fit, he would have lost a huge sale but by doing one first he put me at ease. I found Alan and Arnold very honest and that?s why I will go back for more.

I love Alan and his store. I first met Alan in 2001. I can tell you that there is no finer or more honest merchant in the city-clothing or otherwise. While I only buy one or 2 suits a year Alan will always show me what is appropriate for my rather portly frame. One time I walked out huffing and puffing because I really wanted a suit that I thought would look great and he refused to sell it to me. The stuff is all top quality, high end-not a fancy place, you pay for the clothing, not the ambiance. Try them once and you will be hooked.

This is worth posting. I called because I had just been informed that I was going on a business trip to Europe and my firm, which is casual, dressed up over there. I live in Stamford and Alan David himself came out. I bought 3 Zegna suits, 7 shirts and 5 ties for about $4500 which I thought was good but best of all they were able to get me the clothing in 2 weeks, fit it and they even shipped it to Europe in a neatly packed hanger box so nothing got creased. I got so many compliments on the suits that when I returned I changed a good part of the rest of my wardrobe over to dress and I am just so happy I found Alan David

I live and work in Stamford, CT, but I used to live and work in New York City. I was looking for a good deal on a custom suit and I found Alan David Custom Suits. I was very impressed with the quality of the materials and the selection. Now that I live up in CT I love the fact that Alan David is so close to Grand Central. I have a number of events coming up and look forward to my next custom fitting.

Alan and I have been friends for many years and I have been buying custom suits from him for just as long. Since I live in New Jersey and commute to New York City every day and I work in the high end marketing field, I need to look my best. Alan David's custom suits fit me perfectly and even my wife thinks I look great when I get dressed for work. Alan and his staff are incredible and I highly recommend everyone checking out his operation.

My grandsons bar mitzvah is coming up in March and since I am retired I needed a new suit. I figured since all of my suits don't fit me anymore that I would head into New York to see what Alan David Custom Suits could do for me. Well, Arnold fitted me impeccably and now I will absolutely be dashing at the Bar Mitzvah. Thank you Arnold, Alan and everyone.

I have been to so many custom suit guys, always with a problem with the fit
of my pants. I like no pleats and all my previous pants open near the pocket
area. This is the first time I got pants that really look amazing. It also
helps that the fabric is real quality, they have separate fabrics just for
pants. This is a really specialized operation. I did pay a bit more but wow
was it worth it. Great salespeople, ask for Arnold-he will sell you the
Brooklyn Bridge. Has my vote for best fitting pants.

I have been in the diamond and jewelry business for almost 20 years and quality is my middle name. Heres a story for you. I bought 6 custom shirts from here about 2 years ago. I went on a diet and lost almost 30 pounds. I went in to buy new shirts because collars were all to loose on me and instead they told me they would just put a new collar on and taper the sides-ALL FOR FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Without revealing myself, I am a multi-millionaire-I started an internet security company and was being honored at a dinner and needed a tux. A colleague of mind had mentioned that these guys sell custom suits and custom tuxedos. Well, Alan came all the way out to Jersey with all his fabric books, we selected a fabric and he came back to fit me. I do not wear suits to work but when I went to my awards dinner (Yes, I did win the award) I got so many compliments, including from my wife, who insisted I order more suits. Thanks Alan, and to those of you reading this you have no idea how many ?well connected? people swear by this place.

I had always bought my suits in Hong Kong but I do not get over there much anymore, so I tried Alan David. While it was higher priced the quality is far superior to what I have now. I am shaped like a ?pair? so I need custom. Suits fit perfect-on the first shot-owner has been in the business forever, or his family was. I usually never post but I have never really had anything fit so well so I give Alan David a big thumbs up.

I needed a tux for my wedding and I was very picky in terms of what I was looking for. I brought in all sorts of pictures as well as my fiancee and brother to help me. Alan (owner) was great, he walked me through everything and even talked me out of a shawl collar look that I was so set on. That really amazed me, he literally said to me I would look like an outdated old man with that look. He was right and I was glad he listened. There were some minor adjustments needed at the first fitting but everything (including tux shirt) came out perfect. Put these guys in your blackberry, they are keepers.

This place is great. I am very hard to fit for shirts because of my big neck the shirt is always blousy around my stomach. Shirts came in perfect, first shot. They have this saleslady who worked for custom shop over 20 years, her name is Adelina, ask for her for sure.

This was my first time buying custom suits. I usually buy at Nordsroms but for about the same price I got a blue and grey suit and the fit was incredible. Specifically I had wanted the tapered look with higher armholes etc; it was spot on-horray my shopping worries are over.

Remarkable experience. The staff are just out to help you, and with the amazing selection that's important. I ordered half a dozen shirts, I wasn't disappointed. High quality, made to my fit and specs, and at a reasonable price. Highly recommend.

Alan provides a personalized serviec second to none. His suits are perfect. The cloth is gorgeous. He will do truly custum work on coats, vests and formal wear for you. Turnaround time is perfect. And Alan provides ongoing care on the suits extending their use. The prices are very appropiate for the quality. Enjoy.

I had been wearing Department Store suits for years. In an effort to spruce up my wardrobe (I am an accountant and I only wear suits a few days a week) I decided to treat myself to a custom suit. I found Alan David online and took a shot and I must tell you it was a great find.

I bought a blue stripe super 120's fabric for about $1,100. I was a bit skeptical at first with all the measurements and styling questions. The owner, Alan, asked me everything and then some down to the amount and colors of the suits I currently have in my closet. Anyway, the suit came in about 3 weeks later and needed only minor adjustments. It really fi well. I did not even have that little roll behind the collar that I always got on my other suits. My one complaint is that when I came back for my next fitting they were very busy and I had to wait about 20 minutes just to try the suit on. Alan explained that everything was by appointment so one customer does not back up on the other. In fairness, I did not schedule an appointment for the fitting.

I never review anything but I really think its important to share that I found a place that seems to really care. Not only is their staff great, but Alan really took the time to walk me through the process and insistantly kept asking me if I was comfortable at every aspect of the process-from picking fabrics to styling the suit (2 button, 3 button etc.). He is probably in his early 40's but really understands how to make somebody feel comfortable. I could have probably spent a little less someplace else but I would rather be with someone who really cares. They even told me they would alter the suit for free if I gained or lost a few pounds-no charge.

I highly recommend!!!

My Husband had a custom tuxedo created here and I must say its the best fitted item he owns in his closet. I would love for him to go back and have a few of his suits made by Alan David as well. I guess I will have to toss out his old ones first. Very Great work is done here at prices that dont seem to be custom.

I met Alan a few years back when Moe Ginsberg closed shop. I then started shopping at Alan David, his store down on Fulton Street. He is very professional and knows what he is talking about when it comes to suits and sport coats. His fashion knowledge, fabric quality and tailoring is superior to anything you'd fine in a regular retail outfit. I would never buy a suit or sport coat again from a retail store.

The tailor came to my place and took my measurements, Volia I had the best suit I've even owned. I'll never buy from the department store again. The prices are almost the same but the fit and quality is Great! The service was amazing because all I had to do was stand there for less than 10 mins. and of course pick the cut and the fabric swatch. Alan David menswear is the Best!

I send our clients here and they are never disappointed. The workmanship is great for the prices. Its almost unbealivable that you can get a Custom Tuxedo for off the shelf prices. I dont know what the suits are like but if its anything like the formal wear. I would Say GO FOR IT!

I suggest this company because they have an on-site mesuring service where they "come to you" That works well with our clients schedule.

Pros: Highly skilled taliors, they come to your location to measure.
