Level 4 Salon

I went to Kwandee for my hair color and I have to say that it is the worst hair color that I have ever had. Even in the days when I was unfortunately using color from a box, it looked better than this. I was really looking forward to the hair color because of all the glowing remarks I read on this site, but I have to say that I was VERY disappointed. Despite the fact that I told him that I wanted my hair dark brown, it is now light brown. To make matters worse, it is uneven, being much lighter on the top than on the bottom. I could have done that myself at home! I have pesky grey hairs which other salons have had no trouble covering, in fact, I even stressed to him how important it was. But unfortunately Kwandee did not listen to me and now I have my grey hairs to look at through my uneven brown hair. Oh, but it doesn't stop there. My hair has a green tint to it as well. He had told me during the coloring process that he had to add a lot of green to counteract my hair's brassiness. Unfortunately now my hair has a green tint which was fine for Halloween, but looks pretty bad in my office and out on the street. The service there was so bad, that I couldn't help wondering if the people at the salon had written the good reviews on Citysearch. Bad, bad, bad. I would never go back to this salon EVER and would HIGHLY recommend avoiding it at all costs.

Pros: If you mention Citysearch they give you a discount, which you'll need to fix what they did to your hair.

I can't say enough wonderful things about Zeon Kitchener!! I started seeing Zeon about 8 years ago and unfortunately lost touch with him a few years ago after I moved away from SF for a while - thank god for Google! Now that I'm back, I'm never leaving!

Zeon's talent for color continues to amaze me. Two things stand out above all else:

First, he has a true gifit for matching colors with skin tone. This is an especially big deal for me because I'm very fair skinned with a cool pink undertone, but I have warm hazel eyes. Every other hair dresser seemed to look only at my eye color and I'd end up with colors that clashed with my skin tone. Not Zeon - he has an incredible ability to choose colors that work with my whole color profile. He just did a lovely brunette that has enough warmth to keep from washing me out, but doesn't have the orange / yellow tones that clash with the pink in my skin. Of course, the real test is when the color starts to fade (and I've bleached my hair twice in 18 months so it's porous as hell) and the color has held up just fine! It's softened up a bit, but withOUT pulling red and still looks fabulous! Plus, Zeon was the ONLY hairdresser ever to do a successful blonde for my skin tone - again, really hard to do with my complexion because you can't do yellow (clashes with the pink in my skin) but a very ash tone would wash me out. Zeon got it right every time, which brings me to point #2....

Zeon has an INCREDIBLE eye for detail and is EXTREMELY THOROUGH!! I cannot emphasize this enough! I have fine hair but I have a ton of it - therefore, in order to have a blonde highlight job done right, I need at least 2 million foils to get the entire look right - Zeon uses closer to 3. NO, and I mean NO other hairdresser has ever put this much effort into my hair. Zeon makes sure his clients know he's got allllll the time in the world to devote to making them look fabuous!!

I absolutely recommend Zeon and Level 4 Salon!! :)

Kwandee was great! I have extremely thick, long curly blond hair that takes hours and hours to highlight. In the past, I've had some trouble with stylists cutting corners to get it finished more quickly, and it shows with the results I've seen. Not with Kwandee! He took the time to figure out exactly what I wanted done and then he pulled it off beautifully, without making it feel rushed. I have already been back to see him again and my hair came out just as beautiful the second time. I highly recommend Level-4 Salon and Kwandee in particular for gorgeous highlights.

I just had the best highligths and hair cut from NOOSHIN .she is great my hair cut it is sooooooo cute and my higlights look absolutly beautiful .she knows all the trends even for me that i'm pertty conservative .she did just that little something that makes it chic and modern .i have been getting nothing but compliments on my hair .she has an great eye for tones .so when you do go see her ask her for her suggestions .i have been going to dipitro todd for the past four years .but i love NOOSHINS work better. not only i love ,,,,,,,,,my hair i saved my self a few handerd dollers .try it and you will see for your self

I am new in SF and was looking for someone who had a good reputation for color and cuts. Kwandee at Level 4 Salon was great at both. He did a fantastic job on the color and highlights on my blonde hair and even though I am growing out my hair and didn't want a lot cut off he was very good at shaping it up! My daughter also went in for a haircut and it was very cute! We will both go back : ) Everyone in the office was very friendly and we think that Level 4 Salon was a great find in a great location. Union Square is just around the corner for some shopping once your hair is looking so good!

Noushin is the absolute best! She listened to what I wanted and gave me what I asked for, all the while giving me correct advice on what kind of cut will suit my face and skin. I have psoriasis (on my scalp, face, ears and neck) so I always feel self conscious when going out to get my hair cut. But Noushin was completely understanding and professional and didn't treat me as if I was some horribly diseased person. And I absolutely LOVED my new haircut. What a friendly and fabulous experience!

I was referred to NOOSHIN by one of my friends .so i made an appointment for cut and color . without doing my home work I went to my appointment . I knew what I wanted for my color but for the cut I had NO CLUE . I wanted something that is easy to style since I have lots of hair and something that is going to look professional and CHIC if that's not confusing enough no razor cut it gives me split ends . after our nice chat while my hair color was processing .she gave several great suggestions made me feel very comfortable that I told her she can do what ever she wants . after she started cutting I even felt better the way she handled her scissors and her techniqes . I could just tell the GIRL KNOWS HER WORK . she cut my hair ways that that i have never seen before and have been going to some of the best salons in the city . after I left the salon I could not stop touching my hair it felt so light and looked so great I am writhing this review about a week later my hair looks even better than it did the first day if that's even possible . it is so easy to style I just love my hair . I have been getting my hair hilighted since highschool -- about 18 years. I had been going to a stylist for about 5 years, but felt she was getting stale, and my color was taking on a brassy orange-ish shade as she tried to cover the greys that are popping up.
I broke up with her and I struggled to find someone to take my hair from the orange-ish color back to the wheat blonde shade I prefer. I tried one colorist twice, and was left feeling that for as much as I was paying, she sure wasn't listening...and the lowlights she added (why??) only made my hair have more of an orange tone.
I put out the word that I was in search a good colorist. Turns out that 2 of my coworkers (both beautiful blondes) go to Kwandee at Level 4 salon. They promised that he is a good listener and an even better colorist.
My experience was just as they promised. Kwandee at Level 4 Salon looked at the photos I brought and talked to me a bit before mixing up color. He was funny and complementary. The color is pretty and natural. I am able to go a little longer between colors becouse the hilights work with my outgrowth. I definitely recommend Kwandee. It was not difficult to get an appointment. The salon is quiet and clean. An all-around positive experience.

After reading all of NOUSHN'S great reviews I thought my review would get lost .but she deserves to get my five stars I went in for my highlights and cut .I got there late . since I work outside the city .It's very hard for me to get back in the city after work .I thought she is probably going to do one or the other .but she was so accommodating and nice .she said she would stay late .after a nice chat she made several great suggestions.at the end my hightlight came out beautiful and she topped with fabulous hair cut .Soooo you can call me JLO for short

My hair needed help! It was, shall we say, unintentionally multicolored from DYI touch-ups and bad dye jobs.I found Level 4 Salon and master colorist Kwandee through CitySearch and thought I'd give it a try. The reviews are true! Kwandee transformed my hair, using both highlights and color. He did a consultation with me a week before the appointment ,and he had clearly thought about what might work best. He didn't promise me he could correct my neglect in one session, he listened to what I wanted, he asked about the environment in which I work, and he then performed nothing short of a miracle. Kwandee just rocks! Like Level 4 itself, he is friendly, unpretentious and serious about hair. If you are looking for a professional stylist who is highly skilled and empathetic, fair prices and a welcoming atmosphere, look no further.

Brandon was great. I don?t know if anyone has been a nervous as me trying to find a good stylist /colorist. (I have had a few bad experiences), but this was perfect. Brandon was a good listener, and a good stylist. We consulted on a color that wouldn?t fade (which my color seems to always do) and it is the same shade as the day I left the salon. Definitely returning.

I've gotten my hair cut twice at Level 4 by Kwandee and have left feeling like a queen both times! Kwandee really takes the time to get a feel for your hair and what will work best for YOU. He listened to what I wanted, gave me a beautiful cut, and spent about an hour with me after that to show me different ways I could style it. This man is truly passionate about hair and it shows! I'll definitely be back!

This is for all you city searchers .after doing my home work on yelp and citysearch i made an appointment to get my highlights done by NOUSHIN .she was great she didnot hold back on telling me what will or won't work for my hair and face .and worked with me to find a fabulous look for me .that i just love .i have never gotten so many compliments on my hair before .my husband noticed my hair right away .if you can believe that.let me tell you my hair looks better than i imagined .she exceeded my expectations and more.she is a perfectionist and it shows in work

This is the first salon I visited more than once since moving to the Bay area from NYC last year. I've tried several other salons, but none have provided the high level of creativity that I expected. Brandon is the absolute best, a true artist. He has the ability to cut hair to match the shape of your face. He cuts with such precision - the final product will make you wish you didn't have to wash your hair.

I love to try out different hair salons maybe because I haven't found the right place yet. But Level 4 Salon is a place I can see myself going on a regular basis. I was impressed with the friendly and professional atmosphere. My hair stylist, Kwandee was great in explaining how he was cutting, coloring, and managing my hair. I told him briefly what I was looking for and he did exceptionally well in understanding and delivering the type of hair style I wanted. When he did anything else that I didnt not mention, he was very professional in letting me know what he thought was best to improve the condition of my hair. I was also very impressed how there was no sale pressure at all. In fact, I wish I bought some hair product for myself when I was there. He gave me "at-home" directions so I can maintain the great quality of my hair after the treatment. Overall, it was a great experience and I enjoyed many conversations with the staff at Level 4 Salon.

It iwas hard for me to find a new place to trust with my hair but NOUSHIN at LEVEL 4 SALON by far exceeded my expectations . i have seen her four times for my highlight and cut and it's been consistantly great .I am blond woman always in search of that right shade of blond .she has artfuly created exacty the shade that i love and looks the best with my skin color .i have had my hair done at some of the best salons in and outside the city and i can say her HIGHLIGHT and CUT is definitely one of the best i have had and I WOULD SO RECOMMEND HER i could not be happier

After a "forced divorce" from my colorist of 12 years due to the front desk/receptionist issues, I was on the search for a new place. I read all the reviews in Citysearch about Level 4 and Kwandee and took the plunge. SO HAPPY I DID. Kwandee was able to do my highlights and matched them on sight. It looked great! Great attention to detail, he made me feel comfortable in what was an ufortunate experience. His techniques were not what I was used to, but rest assured, the end result was fab-u-lous. I am very happy with Kwandee and I HIGHLY recommend Kwandee for color. His cut of my curly curly hair (and natural ladies out there, you know how hard it is to find a good cutter of curly hair, and you know how we suffer when we get a sucky cut!)- Oh my god. It is awesome. Like the skies opening up and heaven singing, Kwandee gave me a cut that made my thin hair thick and curls defined. The salon's price is right, the salon is great, the receptionist is super friendly, and the place is not overly pretentious. It's in a great location off of Union Square and the late hours are nice. First time clients get a 20% discount with the coupon! Go for Kwandee- you'll be very happy you did!

My old hairdresser just moved so I was looking for a new one. I searched the internet and came across Level 4. After reading glowing review upon glowing review, I was excited to see what Kwandee would do with my hair. I am now pleased to add my own glowing review! I've been to a lot of different hairdressers, and Kwandee stood out for so many reasons. First, he was incredibly generous with his time, staying much later than he had planned to combine the separate haircut and highlight appointments I made to have my hair styled on very short notice. Second, he was super calm and attentive, focused on understanding what my expectations were for my haircut. Third, I absolutely love my new haircut!!! Not only do I love it, but it also elicited compliments from my older sister and mom, who both always have high expectations for my hair! ;) Fourth, I love my highlights. I think they are fantastic. But Kwandee decided they were not the exact shade he had envisioned (and again, to belabor it, I LOVE them), and wouldn't let me pay for them? Yes, you read that correctly. Talk about integrity!! I'm so excited to have found Kwandee and Level 4. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM!!!

I saw Brandon for a cut a couple months ago and he was such a nice guy and did a wonderful job. The best thing about this salon, aside from the haircuts, is the fact that it is sooo unpretentious and layed back. It's not hoity-toity and there are no attitudes at this place, which is quite refreshing given that i've had my fair share of experiencing stylist drama and unprofessionalism at multiple salons. My recommendation is to go on a week night when it is the most quiet and relaxing. Great service and overall great salon.

Kwandee does magic with color. He listens to you and really cares ... no attitude ... just wants you to walk out with a big smile on your face ... which I did! He trimmed and styled my hair, and I look like a movie star. The only problem now is finding someplace fabulous to go and show off my new do!!!!

I'd definitely recommend Brandon at Level 4 hair salon. I had high expectations going into the place. It was rated the best hair salon by city search in multiple categories. I had so many different hair colors in my life and actually just wanted to get my hair looking natural again. Brandon died my hair a semi permanenent color that matched my natural hair color. I love the color so much I'm going in to get it done permanently. Not only was brandon a fabulous hair colorist he was really enjoyable to spend time with. If your looking for good hair color and a good time getting it done this friendly staff is your best bet!

I was long overdue for a makeover and I did my homework. I found Level 4 Salon to be best of the best, and that is what I got, best of the best. I went in and met their hair specialist, Noushin. She took the challenge in with no fear. After informative consultation, she transformed my whole look and I walked out with exactly what I wanted. My highlight are haircut are perfect for each other. I got nothing but compliments and my hats off to Noushin.

I feel so lucky to have found my amazing stylist Letisha at Level 4 Salon. She is personable, professional and specializes in extensions. Many people compliment my long hair and are completely shocked when I tell them that I have extensions. Letisha beautifully blends my hair texture and color with the extensions leaving a natural and flowing look. I also love how she cuts, colors and styles my hair. The staff at Level 4 Salon are consistently friendly and always professional.

I came to this salon for a summer makeover. I'm latina and have natural dark and long hair. I really wanted to switch it up this summer. I've never gone light before, or had a major hair cut before. I did my research on salons and checked out their reviews, I was very impressed by one in particular. This was it!!!! I'm so glad I made this one was my choice!!!! I made an appointment with KWANDEE, and he made my dream come true!!! I showed him pictures of what I wanted and didn't want and he completly reasurred me I was in good hands. He definitly understood what I wanted!
I've gotten so many compliments on my hair!!! It's of a golden honey color with light blonde highlights that really made me stand out and complimented my skin tone to the point of perfection! NOT to mention I had a great cut! Shoulder length, bangs to the side, and he fixed the back of my hair by taking out my crazy layers, and finalized it by giving it a razor blend cut. Kwandee even showed me how to maintain my hair, and style it! He is wonderful!!! Everyone says that my hair looks so healthy and that the color and cut flattered me perfectly! Just the thing I was going for! I'm definitly a customer for good! Thanks so much Kwandee! You made my makeover a life changing experience! I love my new look! ;-)

What a nightmare!!!! I went to this salon to see my amazing stylist Noushin and they told me they didn't know where she went. I had an appointment and they didn't call me to cancel and said they have no idea where she is she no longer works here. They were rude and incredibly unhelpful.

I walked outside down the street and ran into Noushin. She is working across the street at Stephen Saiz salon. I was able to book an appointment!

Level 4 Salon was so unprofessional, rude and disrespectful I would not trust anyone who works there...if a business is run like this I refuse to support it and don't think anyone should. THEY ARE AWFUL!!!

Personally, theres nothing like a REALLY GREAT haircut and color job to give my mood (and ego) a boost! I met my stylist, Brandon, two years ago at a different salon in the union square area and followed him to Level Four. And i'm so glad i did. I see him regularly, but regularly for me is about every 3 months. I'm one of "those people." I put things off until one day i wake up, look in the mirror and say "geez girl, you needed a haircut yesterday! Anyways, I saw him a week ago, got the works: cut, color, and a kickass blowdry, and today realized how those three hours are the single best investment i make for myself next to going to the gym. Seriously! I felt great when i left the salon and a week later im still getting compliments. For the first time I've found a stylist who truly gives QUALITY work. Everything he does is thoughtful and purposeful. Because of him i look fabulous(at least i feel like i do)! I hate to reveal my little beauty secrets but i must give credit where its due and frankly..Brandon is the bomb!

Seriously, he is amazing. I just moved to San Francisco so I wanted an updated, more trendy style and highlight job. Kwandee knew exactly what I meant and did a fabulous job. He is also funny and very kind. The prices are competitive, the atmosphere is very comfortable, and Kwandee gives GREAT head massages. I would recommend him to anyone!

My first time to Level 4, but i won't be my last. Noushin, who is new to Level 4, cut my hair last week and I walked out of there feeling like a new man. I have never been complimented on how nice my hair looked before in my life. I am taking my mother to Level 4 next week to get a cut & color. Everyone there is super friendly & professional. I have never seen anyone use the tecniques that Noushin used to cut hair. The way she handeled those sissors was very impressive and the results on my hair was truely amazing. 5 STARS FOR NOUSHIN and LEVEL 4. Thanks for reading my review.

I have been searching for a stylist who delivers results I want, for the longest time, until I found Lindsay. Her understanding of "customers always right", is executed every time. Sitting in her chair always means I am going to get what I WANT. NOT WHAT SHE WANTS FOR ME! I have been going to Lindsay ever since her beauty school days and I have followed her all the way to Level 4. Her stylish cuts and creative coloring/highlighting places her above the rest!

The key is that he knows & understands your hair as he works with it. He has always delivered amazing color and the ability to respond to your suggestive hair ideas. Let me first start off by saying that Level 4 Salon has the friendliest, cozy, warm vibe to it. Its clean, the staff welcomes you, music is playing and the price is so right. I get my hair cut and colored by Letisha Hill. I have been going to her for over 5 years now and I have to say, that Letisha is a Bad Mama Jamma! She listens and uses her creative talents to give you the look, style, and color you are looking for. I recently got my hair cut short for the summer, but I just didn't know what kind of look I was going to go for. Letisha cut and colored my hair and I kid you not, I got a complement as soon as I walked out into the street!

Letisha can cut all types of hair, Black, White, Asian, Latino, Indian, kids, babies, men and woman! I'm telling you if you want someone to give you the style and look you've been waiting for, but are scared of someone TRYING to give it to you, she will give you want you want! I'm not saying this for my health, I know how hard it is to find a stylist and believe me, she is the one that you want to try out.

I have tried so many places in San Francisco to get my hair done and they all were horrible. I am from Orange County and I was trying to look for a place that matched the OC's amazing talent. Well, Level 4 is honestly the only place that I can rely on! They are so friendly and fit you in when you really need it! Kwandee is absolutely amazing with color. He did exactly what i wanted and lived up to my expectations! I really suggest going here, it's taken me a year to find my new salon that i always go to from now on!

After some disasterous dye jobs, I finally decided it was time to take my chances with a new stylist in the city. I made an appointment with Kwandee to get highlights, and when I arrived at the salon, he turned me away! He told me to wait a few weeks to let my hair recover from all the abuse it has endured. It was really refreshing that he had my best interest in mind.
When I returned a month later, not only did I leave with a dynamic color that I LOVE, he also blew my naturally curly hair out, which is not a small feat. Overall, I was impressed with his professionalism and true understanding of how to create a really natural looking blonde highlights. I'll definitly be back!

I wish I could recommend this place as so many people had done to me before I went. But I left with that uneasy feeling you get when you've just spent a lot of money and are not sure for what. The cut I received was at best adequate from a stylist who was clearly rushing to get to his next client and I'm left wondering how long before it will grow out and I can try another place. In fact, no one seemed to have much time for customer service. Perhaps once they fill all their openings there will be more time for the pleasantries one would expect from such a high end salon.

I first went to Level 4 salon when I was searching for a wedding hairstylist in 2005; I ended up having my hair cut and colored here, too. Berlin has been beyond excellent. I have always been really happy with the results. He gets what I want right away. I drastically cut with my hair really short recently after having a baby. He made a few suggestions, and I walked away completely happy. I got complements left and right and even influenced a few people to cut their hair short too as a result. It's been a few months since the cut, but the style still holds real well. Honestly, Level 4 salon is the only hair salon in the city I have faithfully gone back to. Thanks a million, Berlin.

I recently returned to San Francisco after a long period abroad. I was completely out of touch with what SF had to offer in terms of salons & "happened" upon the Level 4 Salon & Brandon. He did an amazing job correcting a poor color I already had on my hair & turning it into something glossy & beautiful. The whole staff were friendly & warm and I left the salon feeling as if I had spent the afternoon with great new friends. I was thrilled to receive tons of compliments about my hair! I highly recommend Level 4 Salon and especially Brandon.

My prior review noted Brandon is the best should have been 5 stars and not the measly 3 it notes. I was confused on how to do the review and didn't to the "Rate It" scale. So, he and the salon get all 5 stars! Brandon styled and colored (with highlights) my hair and did a fantastic job, I will definitely be a loyal client. I had my hair cut by Kwandee yesterday and I cannot get over how good my hair looks! It was almost surreal how just moments (literally) after leaving the salon I received a slew of compliments on my hair - from complete strangers on the street.
Stylists in the past have greatly disappointed me by pushing their ideas and by their lack of ability to manage my curly hair. This was my first experience leaving a salon completely happy with "hair commercial" hair to show for it. Straight, soft, and bouncy - no complaints here!
Kwandee was very accommodating and has a very collected demeanor. I'm so glad I was spared the pretentious vibe I've experienced at other salons.

It's been years since I got a cut I like and I definitely owe my thanks to Kwandee.

I just got my haircut by Kwandee and it is the best cut I have ever received. I have never been one to fuss over my hair given my hectic lifestyle. Previously, when I have told other stylists that, they have given me a conventional, easy cut---which usually ends up in a ponytail. Kwandee took the time to really look at my hair, my face and gave me a really gorgeous, sassy style. Everyone at work has noticed and commented on how good I look, so many people have told me that I look years younger. I highly recommend Level4 and Kwandee.

I got my haircolored for the FIRST TIME a couple of weeks ago by Brandon and he did such a great job. I will definately be back to Level 4 Salon!!

I am new to the San Fran area. After researching several salons I booked my appt with Kwandee at Level 4 Salon. I was so pleased with his coloring skills. I am very picky about my hair. I am blonde and have highlights and he was exceptional. I highly recommend you give him a try. The salon is very friendly. I loved how all the stylist made me feel at home and as if I had been coming there for years. Kwandee even gave me a great recommendation for my son who lives in St Pete Beach Fla. So not only did I find a new stylist my 21 year old son has as well.

Give Kwandee a call you will be glad that you did. When people in the airport stop me and ask me who does my hair.....well that says it all for me.

My stylist at Level 4 is Berlin and he is AMAZING. I have been going to him for almost two years now and just recently I had a huge transition from blonde to brunette. Berlin picked out the best color, totally natural, but dramatic enough for me to still be cutting edge. He never tries to make me "look" a certain way, but knows what I like and caters to that. I would trust Berlin to do just about anything to my hair. He has great artistic instinct and is very talented. (not to mention he's totally cool and we have great conversation while I'm in the salon). All the other stylists are really friendly and although I've never had my hair done by them, I've seen their work and it is beautiful. The salon has a modern atmosphere and is really relaxing. Their prices are totally reasonable compared to some other salons in San Francisco.

Berlin did my color and cut...it was fabulous! He was also very confident in what would work best for me as well as listening to what I was needing. It turned out great. I will be going back to highlight even more! Berlin was really outgoing and sincere!
