I've been going to Berlin for 2 years and I still look forward to every appointment. He is sweet, patient and bubbly. When I first started going to him my hair was damaged, dry and filled with split-ends. Berlin transformed me in every sense of the word! Now my hair is long, soft, healthy and shinny! Latisha at Level 4 Salon has changed my life! I have never gotten so much attention from my hair before going to see her. Men in my office were "uncomfortable around me" after a visit from Letisha, just to give you a hint at her styling prowess. I visit Letisha before EVERY major event where I will be photographed.

She is also an amazing colorist. I am came in with an idea in my head and about 5 different pictures of what I thought I wanted my hair to look like. Letisha walked through each picture I brought and deconstructed the color each one contained (highlights, lowlights, tones). In the end we found something perfect for me and I am a faithful believer in her magic forever!

The salon is so cool and relaxed. When you go in you can totally unwind with a glass of wine, tea, whatever you like! I also like that your stylist washes, colors and styles you so you are not walking around being passed from one person to another. The studio is very open and airy and totally relaxing. It?s the ultimate hair experience!!

Zeon Kitchiner, stylist at Level 4 Salon is an amazing guy. Last week, he gave me the best cut & color I have ever received. He listens, was attentive, yet he brought his own creativity to the style. It even looks great right of the shower. Other stylists in the past have told that since my hair is so straight, it's hard to cut. Not with Zeon!
I have received so many compliments from people about my hair. It's smart to book appointments in advance because they can get pretty busy.
I really can't say enough good things about Zeon and his artistry--he's just the best.

I?ve been a client of Leticia?s for years. With all of the talent in San Francisco, I have found Leticia to be the best in knowing what hair color will work well for me. She is consistent in keeping me looking my best ? while still being flexible enough to change with the seasons. Level 4 is a welcoming retreat from the hussle and bussle of Union Square & the perfect spot to walk out the door when you?re feeling beautiful.

Let me preface my comments by saying I am EXTREMELY picky about someone getting my hair color absolutely perfect. That's because over the years I have encountered the full gamut of stylists--some who gave me head-turning highlights and some who gave me nightmare color jobs that eventually needed to be color corrected. I came across all the glowing reviews about Level 4 and Kwandee, and I decided to check it out. I have to admit, I was very skeptical, and so I booked a consultation to check out the salon and meet Kwandee. (As a side note, my hair was in need of color correction--platinum highlights with chunky and ashy brown lowlights--not a good look). During the consultation I found him to be incredibly down to earth with a terrific opinion on color. I felt comfortable with him and booked an appointment for a week later. Well, my appointment was this morning. ..and I have to say I am thrilled (and relieved) with the results. Kwandee color corrected my hair and gave me the most natural-looking highlights that complement my skin tone. Throughout the process he encouraged me to ask questions, and he really did go out of his way to make sure I knew what he was thinking color-wise and to make sure I was comfortable with everything. It is so comforting to find someone who gets it! I highly recommend taking in pictures of what hair color you like and don't like, as I have found this to be a great tool over the years for ensuring you and the colorist are on the same page. Holy Mary Mother of God (and you know who you are), last week I got the best haircut and color I have ever had at Level 4. Berlin transformed me. When I walked in I was a frumpy, middle-aged grandma who had lost her joie de vivre. When I walked out, I was a sassy, giggling, younger woman who couldn't find enough surfaces to catch her reflection in. Level 4 was truly a transformative experience. Don't get me wrong, I know I am more than my hair, but with that said, having great hair is so damn fun! When you go (and you must) let Berlin use his 20+ years of experience to create the look that is best for you. His talent is magical.

This place was bad for my vanity after Kwandee did my color/cut. I've spent too much time today admiring myself in the mirror.
So I walked into level 4 with a washed out two-tone thing happening, and pretty much left it in his creative hands to remedy. He did a wonderful job, getting me to a shade that I think I had imagened, but couldn't convey. Props to his ability to pick a fitting color for my complexion and image. The cut was secondary, but even that pleased me greatly.
I think the thing I was most impressed with was the level of communication that came from Kwandee; he really talked me through it, helping me to fully understand what he would do today, and how that would fit into a "plan" for my hair (over subsequent visits). I got the sense he didn't want to push my hair boundaries too much. =) As far as general conversation went, he was a pleasure to talk to. Nice gentle vibe.
Definitely try out level 4.

I read some of the reviews on this site and decided to give Kwandee a try. I always want my hair to look really natural and he did a great job of giving me exactly what I wanted- nothing overdone or high maintenance, but very pretty. I was also amazed at how soft and smooth my hair felt afterwards. He even figured out a way to fix up some botched super-short layers that someone else cut into my hair a while back. I really love my hair and I'll definitely be back to see Kwandee and Level 4's adorable mascot Rocket.

Level 4 Salon uses only top of the line products, and provides impeccable service in a very relaxing atmosphere in the heart of one of the trend capitals of the country. Zeon Kichener who has only been styling my hair for a few months now, takes care of his clients by listening to their needs while combining precision technique and unmatched style. The salon staff offers a user friendly atmosphere that would keep any customer coming back. I highly reccomend this salon and Zeon Kichner as a stylist who can meet your needs while maintaining a rapport with you and catering to what your hearts desire is.

I moved to NYC about 6 months ago and have still not found a hairstylist with Zeon's talent and sense of style. He knows exactly how to cut my hair, is expert with color and highlights, and knows how to change things up and what to keep the same.

Now, each time I visit San Francisco, I will have to stop at Level 4 and get an appointment with Zeon.

I found out about Level 4 here on City Search and decided to give it a shot. Its the best hair decision I've ever made. Upon entering I was offered coffee, tea, or wine....a very friendly welcoming. Berlin was my stylist and he gave me the exact look I was going for. I've been highlighting my hair blonde since 7th grade (I'm now 21) and this is the best color I've ever had! It looks stunning. He told me he was going to make my hair classy, glamorous, and hot. He is very talented and is also great company....a funny, nice guy. I love the new cut too. I have long, wavy hair and he styled it exactly like the pictures I brought in from a magazine. He consulted me and asked me what I wanted, and told me that he could do anything.....he also gave me tips on what color and cut would look best for me. He said, "first tell me what you think you want and then I'll tell you what I think"....then we came to an agreement from there. It looks fantastic! Level 4 has great customer service, fair prices, and awesome stylists. I highly reccomend it and just wish I'd found out about it 10 years ago.

I nearly had a negative experience with Level 4 (a rather frustrating appointment "mixup"), but Berlin went above and beyond to ensure I had a wonderful experience with the salon. I left SO happy, and my hair looked EXACTLY how I wanted ~ the cut and color were perfection. I just moved to SF, and I'm so happy to have landed such a great stylist. Berlin, I WILL be back...and soon!

Berlin is a terrific hair stylist.

My daughter and I feel so lucky that she discovered him for her wedding hair stylist four years ago. He did such impressive work for her wedding that we both began going to him. During the past four years he has continued to impress us.

Not only is Berlin a talented hair stylist, but also he is personable and flexible. I always look forward to going to Level 4 to have Berlin cut and color my hair because I know it will be an enjoyable time and my hair is going to look great!

I decided to set up an appointment for a cut and color with Level 4 after reading the glowing recommendations on CitySearch. This was my first time getting highlights done and I was a little nervous about getting something that would be current but not outrageously trendy. I'd also had my hair thermally re-conditioned and knew that I needed someone who has experience working with heavily processed hair. I mentioned this to the receptionist when I called for the appointment and she recommended Berlin. He was absolutely everything a 'colorist virgin' could ask for! He spent time listening to what I wanted, answered any of the questions I had and gave some great input that ultimately produced the best result that I could have possibly hoped for. I ended up with great color and a wonderfully refreshing cut and style that he showed me how to reproduce under 5 minutes at home. I had a housewarming party that same evening and everyone complimented me on both the cut and color. I also watched some of the other stylists produce some amazing results with their clients while I was there. I will certainly be returning and would recommend anyone looking to update their look to Level 4.

Great salon. There is excellent light from the floor to ceiling windows, the color is soothing, the artwork is interesting. It is not loud as most salons tend to be, but is a relaixing respite above the hustle and bustle of Union Square. Good music, too. Berlin is an incredible stylist.

Level 4 salon is the best salon that I have been to in a while. They have great customer service and the environment is just really relaxing. Tatyana was my stylist and she is just wonderful! She listens to what you want and adds her own touch to the haircut. I got so many compliments on my haircut!

After reading the wonderful reviews about Level 4 Salon I decided to try it out myself. I booked an appointment with Kwandee and boy am I glad I did. He meet my expectations and more. Kwandee took the time to make sure he knew what I wanted and made sure I was comfortable with everything he was doing from putting on color to the way he was going to cut my hair. The color came out perfect and was exactly what I had envisioned. I am relieved that I have finally found a person who I can entrust my hair to. In addition, the entire staff was very friendly, customer service oriented, and made you feel relaxed and welcomed.

I have been looking for a stylist ever since I moved to SF. I get highlites color and a cut. I must say what I experiences was beyond words. He listened and took the time to tell me what would work but also what would not work a true genious. I have found the master stylist I ve been searching for. Not only did I recieve flawless color but a cut to bring it all together not to mention a sweet visitor, his little dog rocket that seems to excite all the clients. This salon is small but has stylist bigger than life, you should run not walk if your looking for the best hair in SF.

I came to the salon and had my hair and make up do for my wedding. I was so nervous and afraid and he talked my thru the whole thing. With a great consultation and trial we sailed thru the wedding I recieved more compliments than ever for my hair and make up. Having little dog there made my day and calmed me down. I have been searching for a new color for quite sometime since my stylist (of 3 years!) messed up my hair.. (sorry but hair is important and one time is one too many). I went to Level4 after some longtime searching and prayed for the best. At Level4 Salon, I told Kwandee a vague description of the color i want and he mixed up some color and *voila* -- when he was done my color was exactly what I was looking for!! it was HOT! He really took the time to consult with me in the beginning and asked me what i wanted and listened.. I also got a trim and some bangs. I loved it! We were the last ones there since it was past closing time, both he and the girl at the front desk stayed late and was totally cool about it. Overall great!

Having just moved to San Francisco from Boston, I was nervous about finding a new hair stylist, since it took me two years to find the right one in Boston. Having read the other reviews, I decided to give Level 4 a try and opted to go to Joo because of what a few other people said about her subtle recommendations. I was very happy with my experience - everyone at the salon was friendly and down-to-earth. It's always hard to describe the style you want to a new stylist, but Joo gave me exactly what I asked for, and true to her reputation, made a suggestion for a flattering style that would suit the shape of my face. Next time, I'll definitely give her more free rein. I'm already looking forward to my next appointment. Thanks, Joo!

I went to this salon because my friend goes there and it was a bit cheaper than some of the others I looked at like Di Pietro Todd, Diva, Cowboys and Angels. I just randomly chose Tatyana, but am very glad I did because she was great. I was living with the worst haircut of my life given to me by some cheap sleazo in West Portal and she completley fixed it and made me look fabulous again! And she did exactly what I asked for with my highlights, and was very cautious not to fry my very damaged hair. All this plus she was really sweet and fun. I will definitely be going back to her. After bouncing from stylist to stylist since I moved to San Francisco one year ago, I finally found someone who is not only concerned with the health of my hair, but concerned with my comfort level and satisfaction with the end result. Kwandee takes the time to make sure he understands your needs/wants and then uses his refined skills to give it to you. He did a wonderful job on my color and I will continue to refer friends and colleagues to him.

I am a 42 year old woman. I told Kwandee I wanted my hair thus: "I am a fifteen year old boy who just rolled out of bed and needs a haircut" He's done it perfectly 2 times now and I get compliments on my cut from people of all walks. It suits me and he does a great job, is engaging and nice, no attitude.

I've lived in San Francisco for two years, have short hair, and have tried approximately 10 different stylists. Finally, I found a "keeper". Kwandee is a fabulous stylist who cares about his clients and is a joy to spend time with. It was such a great experience and I'm thrilled to find him. I've recommended a friend of mine and she also was thoroughly satisfied. We'll go back and not look any further.

My experience at Level 4 Salon was great. They all were very friendly and the place was clean and fresh looking. I had been to a few other places in San Francisco and they were very pricey not that clean and not the greatest haircut. I highly recommend Level 4 Salon!

I have tried many many posh salons in SF searching for the right stylist....all I have to say is I have FINALLY found the place for amazing haircuts/color. Letisha took my frizzy, thick dark hair and turned it into a masterpiece. I received numerous compliments walking down the street from the salon! She is friendly, attentive, and reasonable.

I hate to post bad reviews like this, but with the horrible haircut I got and the great reviews this salon gets, I would be remiss in not mentioning my experience. WHile the staff was nice enough, the haircut I received was nothing like what I asked for. This happens from time to time, and I find that often I"m happily surprised with a stylist's improvisation. NOt in this case. My haircut is so awful I will have to pin it back for at least a month, until it grows out. Save yourself the money and stress, go somewhere else.

I have sometimes difficult hair to cut, and having just moved to SF I've been nervous about trying new places besides my tried-and-true LA salon, but Joo gave me a great cut that really worked with my hair! Better yet, I had my boyfriend's parents in town this past weekend and had a ton of family functions to attend and I received a number of compliments on my hair! I'll definitely be back :)

That's the word I received from numerous friends at a party I attended directly after Kwandee highlited and flat ironed my hair. What a way to kickoff Friday and Springtime with a new 'do. Never expected the rave comments from my friends (male and female!) that not only was my hair beautiful but it made ME beautiful. Kwandee did a great job highliting my hair so it glowed and so did I! My previous experiences at this salon were amazing. I walked away loving my hair. This time, when I wanted to have the same thing done that was done before by the same stylist, it didn't happen. My cute cut became the cut of a socceer mom running for local political office. My amazing color became a head full of very blonde highlights that I never wanted. The blow dry was the worst I have ever had. If you go to this salon, be sure to go only for something new. Do not go back expecting to get the same thing you got before, you will be disappointed. How the exact same stylist could give me the best cut and color of my life and then, when all I want is to keep the same style and color, I got one of the worst cuts of my life is beyond me.

The salon is very intimate, and is bright and welcoming. I met with Letisha the following week, and I was booked for a color and a cut just two days later! I came in, and I was very nervous; I have frizzy hair, and i did not know how it was going to look with color. She did a meticulous job on me , all while talking and putting me at ease about the whole process. As she dried my hair, I got the chance to ask her more questions about maintaining my hair. I left with soft, shiny, FABULOUS ROCK-STAR hair, and I have been so happy with the cut and color! Thank you Letisha, I'll surely be back for more!

I have been to many expensive salons and top stylists in NYC, SanDiego, LA, and San Francisco with similar results- good, but not the answer to my problem. Problem being: I have thinning hair, and I hoped to meet a stylist who could find a great shape for me that lasts beyond the few hours after my cut. Fortunately, I finally met Berlin and had the best haircut I've ever had. Berlin listens to your needs, is creative and ingenious. I can't tell you how many complements/double takes I get from everyone at work! I'm sooo happy!!

Why is she the best? Because she works with you and listens to what you're envisioning for your hair, YET she also subtedly makes recommendations which are so helpful. She's a perfect combination of these two things, which I rarely find in salons i've been to. I got a hair cut from her last month, and the length and shape of my fringe was exactly what i wanted. But what I most valued was her subtle recommendation for me to go back to having straight hair (i got a perm last year), and she styled it that way and it was so much better - I wouldn't have thought of it, but Joo knew. I am really cautious about who I let touch my hair. I was really nervous about finding a new sylist and colorist when I first moved to the city. All the nervousness went away when I met Kwandee. He does amazing color and styles my hair perfectly. He gives me great tips for home care too and my hair has never looked better. I get great compliments and I am always sure to give him the credit! If you want to look great and have someone who listens to what you want, gives suggestions based on great experience and overall knowledge Kwandee is your man! If you want the best, go to the best!

I am pleased with Level 4 Salon's services! They are an awesome salon near Union square with a great vibe and good people. Kwandee does do excellent work! He highlighted and colored my hair the way I wanted it... he's the best!!! The Salon also is also so mellow and at ease, so at the same time you are feeling relaxed. Came into SFO for week-end black tie dinner from Portland, OR. Came to Level 4 Salon for UPDO (first time) and was extremely happy with quality of service and overall value. 20% first time discount was really NICE... Tatiana did a great UPDO and I received many compliments about my hair. It was great to come in from out of town and not to have any last minute worries about my hair. Thanks again Tatiana and the rest of the staff were very friendly and helpful too.

I tried Level 4 on a whim and I'm glad I did! I finally found a salon that is worth sticking around for. I have never had a haircut as perfect as the one I got at Level 4. Letisha was great, she knew exactly how to cut my thick wavy hair and she took the time to style it correctly. I used to go to Yosh for Hair but found their "snobbiness" overwhelming. Now, everytime I have a break from school, I make sure to get an appt with Letisha.

I followed the rave reviews to Kwandee at Level 4 and am very pleased. I have deceptive hair and it's usually butchered during the first cut with a new stylist. Kwandee was patient and gave me great recommendations and advice and I'm definitely pleased with the results. He actually had fun styling my hair after the cut...a first! The atmosphere is simple, but I've been to enough places with fabulous atmosphere and bad stylists and I'll stick with Kwandee's experience!

I went to this salon because of the high rating here and its convenient location. The stylist and I discussed abt how long I wanted my hair to be before she started. After abt 30 minutes, she blew dry my hair and I was shocked. This is too short and ugly! It has the bluntest cut I've ever seen... She tried to fix the problem but failed, and I ended up waiting for another stylist to finish the job. It took me two hours and I walked away with a bad haircut - the second stylist couldn't do much abt it since it's too short already...

Every co-worker asked me what happened to my hair and where I got the cut they also recommended hair extension to me......dont go to this salon unless you and your hair are both prepared for a disaster
