Fabulous job with color, better than I've had in any city, even NYC, great cut, nice people...a little more expensive than I expected but worth it! And they took me with no appt which was very cool and much appreciated!

Admittedly I've now hopped through 3 different "high profile" salons in the city, and thanks to City Search, I've finally found THE stylist of stylists. Stevens, an incredibly kind and interesting man, threw out what all other stylists had previously suggested, and performed a miracle. I've quite dark hair naturally, but through his talented techniques I now adorn the superior blonde highlights I so long sought. The price was perfect, the staff up-beat, the coffee fantastic. I recommend Stevens highly. I'll never go anywhere else!

I started off very hesitant and scared but after reading all the reviews I chose Stephens. Everything in his reviews are absolutely true and his artistic direction was more than I hoped for in getting my hair done while visiting San Francisco. I definetly will be back when I'm in town for business and I not only feel beautiful but "chic" in saying I now get my hair done in San Francisco!!!

Letisha is the most talented and professional hair stylist I have ever found. She always does an immaculate job with both cut and color. Her natural artistic aptitude and sincere eagerness to please, mean I always leave her chair thrilled with my new hair style. Additionally, the Level 4 Salon is a super-chic, bright and airy space. The service and ambience are perfect.

I was looking for a last minute appointment for a haircut. A friend of mine mentioned Level 4 and I called! Lucky me, Claudia had an opening! She listened to what I wanted out of the cut, looked at my profile, asked me lots of questions, and then gave me two options for my cut! She was great!

It has been a month since my color and cut and I am still getting rave reviews. At least once a day someone asks me who cut my hair, and I say my new friend Berlin. Berlin gives you his complete and uninterrupted attention. Berlin takes the time to consult with you to arrive at a vision that will make you scream with excitement. I promise you will not be disappointed.

Berlin is wonderful!! I'm new to the city and I've been searching for someone that knows how to cut curly hair. I was so nervous when I walked in but I left the salon feeling happy and satisfied with the results. The colour and highlights are brilliant. My curls are soft and manageable. He gave me very helpful tips to control frizz and fly aways. I felt so pretty when I left the salon. Thank you so much!!!

We're all apprehensive about a new stylist, however, the moment I walked in my apprehension vanished. I immediately was welcomed and felt very comfortable. I didn't have to sit and wait as I'm used to. I actually felt they were glad to see me. Claudia succeeded in cutting my long hair into a short, sassy, maintenance free style. The color was great. She listened to my ideas. I didn't feel at all like I was being rushed in and out. I'm looking forward to my next visit.

Got a great haircut last month and am still getting compliments! I decided on Level 4 Salon after reading all of the rave reviews on CitySearch and now I'm writing one of my own. I highly recommend making an appointment with Jenny. She's easy-going, friendly and listened very carefully to what I wanted and didn't want to do with my hair.

I was looking for a new salon and was refered to Level 4 by a co worker. I was set up with Kwandee and new stylist to the salon but he's returned to SF after being back east . I was a bit nervous as I have had some bad hair color, but what a gem. I found a great stylist with 20 years of knowledge to give me the perfect color. His experience and accuity of knowlege was perfection. I will continue to be his client and one of level 4 as that space rocks!

I got my hair colored and cut at this salon and I was expecially pleased with the color! Latisha did both the color and cut and she was absolutely wonderful. My hair is two toned, with light blonde on top and a darker blonde on the bottom, and the colors blend beautifully together. I'm from NYC and this was my first visit to a SF salon, and I would definitely reccommend it.

Went in because of the 20% first time discount (will never do that again!). My cut and color was a disaster. The colorist had color splattered all over me, the chair, and mirror! I felt that everyone was looking at me the whole time - I just wanted to leave as soon as I could.

I am new to town and after driving across the country, my hair needed some tlc! I researched many salons and saw the wonderful reviews here so I chose Level 4 Salon. I am very picky when it comes to my hair so trust me when I tell you that this is a fantastic salon! Stephens cut and colored my hair and he was fabulous! The color is rich and natural. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. There were no snobs here! What a fun view the salon had too! I felt like I was back in New York! Take the advice of a curly haired New Yorker who has been to some famous east coast salons and go to Level 4!

I met Stephens years ago when he was in cosmetology school. I have followed him ever since. Even though I've lived far away from him I rarely let anyone else near it. I've also turned my whole family onto him; my mom will even schedule appointments when she is in town.
He experimented with styling my hair (just the process) so that it curls perfectly. (I have this thing where only one side of my hair wants to curl.)
I also always trust his voice of reason when I show up with a new 'brilliant' idea. Eg: I wanted that Amalie look, and he sat me down and said "No, I can't do that, you'll look like a mushroom!" He's very concered for his clients, asks many questions and makes youfeel right at home.
Stephens is that mythical stylist that you will never give up for any reason.

One of the reasons I was hesitant about moving to the bay area from San Diego was because i would have to give up the best stylist and color extrodinaire I have ever known...Stephens Quarto. And now, after suffering four years of mediocre cuts and less than kind color applications...he has shimmied himself into the bay area. I welcome him and his years of experience. Get your appointments now, while the bay area is still discovering him. I recall having difficulty getting in every six weeks in San Diego! His personality is simultaneously soothing and chic. he will make you more beautiful than you came in...and teach you the techniques to do it yourself at home. A true teacher and a beautiful person, Stephens is a blessing for Level 4.

I moved here about 2 years ago, hence looking for a new salon in the city. After trying out several overpriced-undertalented spots, I fell upon Level 4. The reviews on this site are right on--Stephens is awesome! I saw that the other clients were equally as pleased as I was. Stephens really listened to what I wanted while offering his expert opinion on face framing, color, texture and design. Most importantly, he doesn't get crazy with style and color (unless you want him to) which means you will never come out looking like Marge Simpson if you didn't intend to. He says he tends to be in the conservative side when he first meets a client--something I was very happy to hear. I didn't have to worry about him lobbing off 10 inches of my hair or applying brassy freakish highlights.

These reviews are right on. Even though I didnt know exactly what I wanted when I came in, Claudia came through for me with a haircut that totally enhances all the great things about my hair while taming everything else! She was excellent at keeping me clued in during each step, so I learned three or four different ways to gussy up, depending on how much time I have.

It was easy to get an appointment (I only called two days in advance), and it's easy to get there using public transportation. I didn't have to wait. Since they're on the fourth floor, there wasn't a lot of annoying window shoppers crowding the place out. To top it all off, I got to go shopping at Union Square afterwards sporting a cool new 'do.

Thanks, Claudia! I never knew I had such great waves.

I couldn't be happier to find Claudia and I followed her from that other place to the nice and cozy Level4Salon.
She gave me a beautiful new cut, exactly what I wanted (from shoulder long to summerly short and cute) and took the time for details and stying tips. You couldn't feel better, surrounded by a welcoming hairstylist, who just loves her job and is exellent doing it. I got compliments wherever I went, which I can only give back to Claudia.

I had my hair cut by Claudia and I LOVE it!! It is exactly what I wanted and she understodd what I was looking for immediately. I received so many compliments and even a few weeks after the initial cut, am still receiving compliments. The atmosphere and energy in the salon is very posisitve; while sophisitcated, professional and elegant, there is nothing about pretentious about Level 4. I highly recommend Claudia and am really excited about going back for my next cut.

I had a haircut with Jenny, genius in residence at Level 4 Salon, this afternoon. I really can't say enough good things about level 4. All of the staff are very friendly, especially Jenny (who is instantly likable), and the atmosphere is entirely unprententious without some of the tension that I have felt at other salons. Every detail is taken care of to ensure that you are comfortable. My cut was excellent, well blended layers. Jenny really took care to ensure that the length was cut exactly how I like it. She also showed me a styling trick which will come in handy (after all these years, why didn't anyone else show me that?). I'm almost afraid to write this review because undoubtly there will be a day where Jenny has a waiting list.

Stephens did a great job on my lowlights -- my hair looks natural and he got out the brassy orangey tint leftover from highlights, faded color and summer sun damage. He also did an awesome job styling my hair, transforming my tight "boingy" curls to straight and silky.

Stevens did my highlights and they turned out perfect. I have had a billion shades of blonde, only 50% of the time it turns out to the color I expect. Stevens did a perfect match and was super gentle on my over-processed hair. After a year (!) of searching I finally found an stylist that has the talent and listens to me, even if I am just yapping about life in general!

made an appointment friday afternoon and was entertained the same day. my stylist was claudia and she was AWESOME. she had the know-how and the skills of the "scary" salons, but was not scary at all :) she was very friendly and dedicated to working WITH my hair type/texture (i have thick, wavy hair, and other salons just want to flatten the life out of it). she gave me a beautiful cut, and also took time to teach me how to style it, depending on how much effort i wanted to put into it. will definitely return!

Jenny is awesome! I have never been happier with my color, i took in pictures and she actually listened to what I wanted and was able to deliver, and my hair is challenging! The salon is even better because it is so NOT pretentious! Great color and a fun place to spend a few hours? It doesn't get much better than that. If you want great color, you have to go see Jenny!

Up to the day I met Berlin, I absolutely hated my naturally curly hair. Well, a couple hours with him just did the trick. Not only he showed me how to style my hair in 5 minutes, needless to say I love my curlsnow. He also gave me awesome highlights!
I have found exactly what I've been looking for. Great service, talented stylists and fair pricing. I'm definetely coming back!

I have never taken the time to write a review before - but, Berlin and Level 4 truly deserve it! Berlin gave me the best highlights I've had in YEARS. Due to years of coloring my hair is incredibly overprocessed and I am never satisifed with the results. But Berlin knew exactly what I wanted and the results were FANTASTIC. I highly recommend this place (and as a bonus the prices are very reasonable).

I decided to give Level 4 a try since my stylist was out of town and I needed to get highlights before my trip down south. Well, Stephens did not disappoint! He gave a thorough consultation before doing anything to my hair - he knew exactly what he was talking about. He definitely takes time with your hair. He also gave a lot of good hair advice. Added bonus - he does a fantastic job styling - I looked like I came out of there with a new haircut too!

I am new to the city and decided to try out the Level 4 Salon. I was nervous at first, but as soon as I met with my stylist, Stephens, I was confident that he knew what he was doing. And I was right! Stephens is new to San Francisco, but not new to cutting hair. He is very experienced and talented. Stephens cut and styled my hair exactly the way I wanted it to look. I would highly recommend you go see Stephens. He is nice and made me feel comfortable the entire time. He gives a great cut and really blow drys and styles your hair well. It is worth it to go in just for the blow out! The price is a great deal for a talented stylist!

I went to this salon because of the great ratings, but the $75 haircut just wasn't worth it at all (I was never even asked how I wanted my bangs cut and had to go home and do them myself!) and my highlights werent brought up enough (my hair doesn't have much contrast at all) and after a few weeks I feel like my hair already needs to be done again. This salon really just wasn't worth it, I hate to say, and I ended up spending too much money that I feel was pretty much wasted.

Ok, I read the reviews first, saw the rating and called. Always a little hesitate to try a new salon (actually "the" new stylist) but the high rating was encouraging. LOVED the people! I had Stephens, who just started working at Level 4 Salon and felt that we had been separated at birth we had so much to talk about and he (and the other stylists) came up with a plan to FIX what someone else had just BLEACHED. Their enthusiasm with the results were marvelous. I felt like I'd just spent time with my closest friends! They suggested I write a review, but I already had it in my mind to do so ... if and when it was positive! Definitely a place to go ... not pretentious at all! Thanks for continuing the "Sharon Stone" look alike for me!

Jenny listened to the problems I was having and suggested practical solutions. My cut and highlights are fantastic! after reading reviews for several high rated salon i decided to go with level 4. i scheduled an appt with stephen, the newest member at level 4. i brought in a few pictures of what i kind of wanted and he explained how each would look and how much maintenance would be required, which helped because i don't want to spend too much time on my hair. stephen was very nice and easy to talk to making the experience of chopping off 4 inches a lot easier. i love my new cut and despite having a student budget, i plan to go back. so if you're thinking about getting your hair cut here, you should call and schedule an appt with stephen before he builds up his client list.

My recent visit to San Francisco yielded the most beautiful hair color from Level 4 Salon, and specifically from the talented hands of Berlin Fisher. He took the time to talk to a complete stranger who just walked in looking for what she has never had...great color, no, superb color, no, perfect color!!!!! Berlin taught me to completely rethink my hair and how I condition and style it. How I wish he could have also cut my hair, and now, what do I do without him back here in Kentucky! Everyone at the salon was friendly and helpful, and completely devoid of the Big City attitude that is tiring and intimidating. My successful result was due in part to City Search's comments and feedback. I am now enjoying the best hair of my life, and I thank Berlin each morning for this awesome color. BRAVO.
