Since 1993, Dr. Keith Manning has been the owner and director of the East Side Animal Hospital. Over the years, he has expanded the services, making East Side an animal hospital for the 21st century. Along with Drs. Di Polo, Tennenbaum and Nenner, licensed technicians, kennel and day care personnel, we are an experienced, caring team, whose job it is to provide your animals with quality care in our state-of-the-art facility. Our services include examinations, vaccinations, medical and surgical care, dental health, ultrasounds, in-house lab tests for emergency evaluations, boarding and grooming. Our digital x-ray and dental digital x-ray enable us to offer the best diagnostic tools for your pet. Dr. Manning serves on two Not-for-Profit boards, as President of NYSAVE and also on the Board of Bideawee, giving much of his free time to the animal community. We are open 7 days a week.

Our family own two beautiful dogs. Unfortunently, they sometimes get sick (mostly around winter time). This hospital on 52nd street is the most friendly Animal Hospital I have ever seen. The staff and vets are so nice, and helped my dogs a lot. They are true pros and will guide you on how to take care of your pet when he/she is sick. Wonderful!! Very Recommended for pet owners!
PROS: GREAT pro service
CONS: none!!!

East Side Animal Hospital provides a good, reasonably priced option for dog boarding. We are always apprehensive to leave our dog, but feel especially comfortable leaving her with a vet. Our dog has come back from stays fine and happy. They seem to take good care of the animals and are the lowest priced option in the area that we could find.

A Concerned And Caring Vet
by jgranat
I have known Dr. Manning for more than 20 years. He is
a caring person and a skilled doctor. He is always glad to answer questions in a practical, direct and patient manner. He has taken care of several of my dogs and
has always been available and very kind. Your pet is in good hands with Dr. Keith Manning. I love the dogey day care too.

I love Dr. Manning
by cmcohen
Dr, Manning is the most wonderful, available and caring vet I have ever met. I have been a dog owner my entire life - and no other Vet has been so accessible - He even called me from his vacation last week when I found a worm in my dogs stool - not an emergency - but Dr. M called me directly to discuss the treatment. I wish my medical doctor was as available. Dr. M called in a prescription and my dog is better
Pros: kind, caring, patient, brilliant

Best Vet I have ever had
by jgood3784
I definitely recommend East Side Animal Hospital, especially Dr. Manning. My 8 year old Shih Tzu had slipped a disk in his back, and I thought for sure he would need expensive surgery from talking to other vets. While Dr. Manning said that was a course of action of last resort, he recommended a less invasive (and less expensive) course of treatment, and Hunter was able to avoid the surgery. Now he is back to his old playful self. Thanks East Side Animal Hospital!
Pros: Dr. Manning is kind and honest

Best Animal Hospital in NYC
by ro52854
Dr. Manning is probably the best vet I have ever met - and I have had dogs for 30 years!.
He is the most patient doctor - listens to everything I say - never takes a casual attitude towards my dogs symptoms - He spends so much time with me that I always have to schedule a long visit in my day - even if it is a simple check-up - He is so completely thorough - and loving - East Side is the best!
Pros: Dr. Manning is kind and wonderful -

Unfriendly and Expensive
by Spealypants
I would not recommend East Side Animal Hospital to anyone. Our dog came down with what we thought was a UTI over a weekend and we quickly tried to find a vet in the NYC area as we had just moved. We brought our dog to East Side and overall the visit was ok, but, their follow-up was extremely disappointing. Instead of calling us with our dog's culture results, they made us call them several times until the results were in. I was told after my first attempt to call for her results that a vet would call me back ASAP. I never heard back so continued to call in hopes that I would get through to a vet. In addition, when I finally reached a vet who had our dog's culture results, he was impatient and rushed me off the phone. Not only did he talk to me like I was an idiot, but he quickly glossed over my questions and made me feel like asking questions was annoying. I asked several times about side-effects of an antibiotic my dog was taking and his voice became very edgy as if I was offending him in some way. Having studied at the most prestigious vet school in the United States, I can easily say that East Side Animal Hospital is a poor choice for anyone who loves their pet.
Cons: Impatient Veterinarians, Overpriced

Best Veterinarian Clinic in NYC!!!!!!!!!!
by melody1210
I have been to many Vets in NY. Dr Manning is incredibly caring and kind. My golden, Dakota was treated by him for 13 years. When she had to be put to sleep, Dr Dipolo came in on a Sunday and held my hand and
really cared for my dear Dakota and for me. They are loving and caring. Yes, they are expensive like other
Vets, but in the end you get more than you paid for. When I adopted Wally my rescue Daschund, Dr Manning
helped me with knowing how to take care of this small breed and turned me on to the best behavior therapist, since he had been abused and run over by a car. I dont know how anyone could not honor their expertise and
warm bedside manner. I have never ever had a issue. Highly recommend to anyone.

Dr. Dipolo is the BEST!
by karenmilesnmurph
Dr. Dipolo is the best!
I called Dr. Dipolo on a recommendation from a friend. I was truly at my wits end. My Peke had a cervical spine injury which all of the top orthopedic vets in Manhattan - recommended surgery. Dr. Dipolo was confident he could help my dog with accupuncture and by "getting him off the steriods". And it worked......!!
Thoughful, compassionate and extremely competent- I now travel from New Jersey and have complete trust in his conservative, yet holistic approach to BOTH my senior dogs health.
And all of my other serious pet parent friends are thrilled as well !

Mixed experience
by doggyowner
So I have been taking my dog there for a few years and the more time I spend there the more I wonder about the establishment. Ive owned many dogs and have seen several vet offices. I had a good experience with the docs but I feel that the staff does not take the time to tell you everything and that you have to always ask about every little detail in order to get the entire story about the care my pet needed. I always have to double check the bill too when I leave and always catch something. I've taken my dog to the day care and every time I pick him up he pee's like he has been locked up all day...whats that about east side? The receptionist too always has an attitude when I come there and I end up taking it personally and do not think its appropriate for a business. So I'm looking for a new vet..
Pros: Doctors
Cons: staff, doggy day care

Do you want a Dead Dog?
by Muppetpompoo
This Animal hospital is a dump. First off: As i am waiting in the waiting room with my dog, a dog with it's ear bandaged up, is released to it's owners from surgery and shakes his head and makes a red Jackson Pollack on the floor. What's worse is the slow paced reaction to an upsetting situation. They came back with it bandaged up and the owners claimed that it would choke on the tightness of the bandage. I should have left then....Great impression! There was only one vet on call at that moment and she deemed it appropriate to give my 1.5 lb puppy a rabies shot, which she nearly died from, 3 days later. They didnt even wait for a stool sample to see if she was healthy enough. My dog spent the weekend in the Animal Medical Center (which is by far a superior institution.) Why? Because she had Coxidea a parasite that can be detected in her stool sample, which the East Side Animal Hospital lost the results of - WE HAD TO CALL THEM TO TELL THEM THAT SHE HAD COXIDEA and a bacteria infection! Then they called back and told us "Oh, yea...you were right!" I-D-I-O-T-S! I will be reporting this dump to the board of Vetinerarians.
Pros: None
Cons: The entire establishment

Dr. DiPolo is the best!
by petlovernyc
I had seen Dr. Tennenbaum on several occasions and was always shocked at my bill when the time came to pay, and my dog never seemed to get any better despite numerous tests. Finally, I saw Dr. DiPolo because Dr. Tennenbaum was out of the office and the difference was amazing. Not only did he listen to me and my frustrations regarding the high cost of treatment without results, his treatment cured my dog within a week and it didn't cost me a fortune. I am not sure about the other two vets that work there but stay away from Dr. Tennenbaum and if you can see Dr. Dipolo.

Best Veterinarian
by sheltiefancier
The veterinary care which my dog receives at East Side Animal Hospital is superior. My dog has chronic
arthritis, joint disease and other chronic conditions. I found that Dr. DiPolo at East Side Animal Hospital
continues to help my dog be the healthiest she can be. His expertise, skill and concern for my pet is
is valued by a pet owner who wants the best for the pet.
Pros: Excellent Veterinarian.

Overpriced and incompetent
by jc1nyc
I brought my 2 year old Pug on recommendation from the pet store where I got my dog. This place was easily 20% more than anywhere else I went. They told me my dog needed knee surgery right away. I brought my dog to Bergh for a second opinion and my dog doesn't need surgery. I think East Side tries to build up the charges at the expense of owners and their animals.
Pros: Convenient to midtown locations
Cons: Skill of vets, very expensive

Avoid the boarding facilities, dog died on there watch
by drumskicks
We took our small poodle to board with the hospital for three days. Our first time boarding with ESAH. They claim our dog "got sick" the day before and the next morning when they checked on him, he was critical, somehow he got fluid in his lungs, through out the day the doctors worked on him but could not save his life. I believe the boarding facilities were lazy in monitoring our dog. They didn't call us until our dog was already so critical, there was a strong possibility he will die. Something happened to our poodle in their boarding facilities that caused him to aspirate fluid in to his lungs. Something went wrong and they don't have answers.
