The evening turned out to be more fun than me and my family expected. We were in heaven with the food, the meats so tender, and I must say the wine was exceptional at a very reasonable cost. Then came the music! It was infectious! We all danced and didn't want to stop. There is a belly dancer that is fonamenal. We ended up staying longer than we had thought we would. Our waitress was awsome! This is the funnest place we have been in a long time. For a true mid east experience you will love it!!!

I really enjoy going to Fanoos with my friends. We actually bring 8-9 people from our neighbourhood for just about any occasion. I've been going there for about 2years or so? and always go there for holidays?

You cant go wrong with the Polo/pullao dishes (rice dishes) and the fish is very good. While we do like Persepolis my friends insist on going to Fanoos because we can relax there...we are certainly regulars. I've already been twice this week making it a total of 4-5 times this month. I'd probably go everyday because its very comfortable and the food, again, is very good...

I love the fact that mgmt is open to posting all of the Iranian Show events in the window so we know who is coming to town. If you??re looking for a place to go and just enjoy being with your friends over tea and some great mezza then Fanoos is certainly ideal...

Saturday nights are extremely busy and the wait staff has to make a great effort to get to every table. If you??re going for a show its perhaps better to arrive as early as possible and get your orders in. The kitchen staff take their time with each plate to make sure its just what you ordered so being patient is necessary when they??ve got over 40 tables to serve.

Suggestions: call in advance if you know you??re a larger party? Understand that Saturdays are very very busy
Go during the week for lunch!! If they don??t have what you want from the buffet then order off the menu?
&Have dessert!
And if you??re not accustomed to Persian cuisine, read about it first then go there and try it. I think its awful when people don??t do research before trying a new cuisine and then dismiss it?

Overall, it??s a really big spacious place. Biggest one in the SouthEast! Can hold an entire wedding party and its great for birthdays and special occasions!

I was visiting this restaurant last Saturday with my friends. It was not the first time we were there and for sure not the last! It's a great restaurant with delicious food!!!! And actually its not the only place where you can eat, they got a great dancing place where everybody dance with their beautiful belly-dancer.
Service was great! our nice waiter didnt mind to make 10 separate checks and I could tell, that not every restaurant will accept it. We are really appreciate it. I would recommend this restaurant to everybody! Thanks for great time!!

I was lured into Fanoo's by a bellydance event benefiting the Atlanta Food Bank. I would have been better off going to the food bank itself for dinner. It was 45 minutes from the time we were seated until the waitress finally managed to wander by with a pitcher of water and menues. It was another 20 minutes after that when we finally managed to flag her down again and actually place our orders. We weren't surprised that the meal itself took another 40 minutes to begin arriving. I say begin arriving because my dates food was never served, apparently disappearing somewhere between the kitchen and the table. Of course flagging down our server again took another 20 minutes by that time we simply asked them to box the forgotten meal to go and left. No attempt was made to apologize for the missing meal which we were charged full price for. The other food was unexceptional at best. The hummus was a grey watery flavorless soup, the lamb was terribly overcooked. I won't return. There are too many good Persian restaurants in the area with good customer service to waste time & money here.

We went to Fanoos last night for the Persian New Year. What a horrible and humilating experience. At the insistance of a friend, we decided to attend Fanoos's Celebration. We had gone to Fanoos before and our experience had been terrible. Their food had been poorly prepared, they had been used food from the afternoon launch, the waitresses specially a blond one had been extremely rude, the music was loud and upsetting and finally their bathrooms had been dirty. My friend insisted that they have changed that I should attend the celebration. So I took off from work and took my wife there. We got there and were told that they were full! We said fine, we ll just go some place else. My wife thought that it would be only polite if she would let our friends know that we were going some place else. Therefore, she walked toward our friends' table to say goodbye, Only to have her hand yanked by their security gaurd. Mr. Jalal does not understand this is not ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF IRAN. You cannot ASSAULT PEOPLE SIMPLY BECAUSE THEY WANT TO WALK OVER TO A TABLE! THIS WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. I WILL NEVER GO TO THIS RESTAURANT. We walked away, with my wife's and my nerves rattled by their savage behaviour. I wanted to file a complaint with the Sandy Spring's Police Department but my wife thought that it was not worth it. I have nothing against the security guard as she was following the order of management. I put up with their terrible service of waiting for half hour just to have to your order taken, I put up with their terrible tasting food and I put up with their rude waitresses but i cannot put up with their assault against my wife and their savage behaviour.

I have always had a pleasant dining experience at Fanoos. I eat during the workday lunch buffet which serves well-prepared dishes: dolmas, salad, tahini, tender beef, chicken and lamb, saffron rice, white rice, fresh fruit, and more dishes I cannot recall. Hot and tasty fresh bread is brought to the table and the baker can be seen making the bread in the corner of the restaurant. Their hot Persian tea is wonderful and comes with free refills. The choice of music while dining is always enjoyable and lends to the spacious, ethnic atmosphere, and the service is attentive and friendly. One disappointment is, ever since the recession, they have taken some items off their buffet and raised the price $2.50. Baklava, salad dressing, some tasty hot side dish, and a couple other things are gone! Also, if you get there right when it opens during lunch, they can be very slow getting items onto the buffet so you can eat. I have waited 30 minutes for some items to show.

I went there when it initially opened and found it lacking. I heard they improved and so I decided to go with a friend as we had a coupon. Lunch buffet was 11.95 which is almost what Persepolis charges and more than Sultan's. While the food was OK, this is easily the worst Persian food I ever had and this is bad because Roswell Road has a 3 other top class Persian restaurants within a mile of this restaurant(Rumi's, Mirage, Persepolis). Not to mention, the numerous middle eastern/Lebanese/Turkish places within 5 miles.

Food quality at the buffet: The worst stuffed grape leaves I ever had. They were too sweet and tasted like it consisted of sugar and sand. Lamb Shank was OK. Chicken Kabob was OK but bland. Beef kabab strips were as tasty as the ones in Persepolis though it comes very buttery to give it taste. The bread was served hot and fresh and wasn't bad, but the bread is once again not as tasty as the bread in the other 3 Persian places. And this is inexcusable. THE RICE WAS MEDIOCRE. THe other Persian places have very good quality rice.

SERVICE: Lamb Shank tray was empty for most of my lunch. I finally got a piece towards the end of my lunch. The waitresses were attentive and seemed to be more polite and warmer than the waiters at Rumi's Kitchen.

This place is just too expensive for the quality of food they serve. The food lacks refinement. If they priced it 8-9 bucks for the buffet, I might consider going there as a cheap alternative in between my visits to the better Persian places.

People who praise this place with 4 stars need to visit other Persian places to get a good idea what quality Persian food can taste like.

I really can't believe what ppl are raving about?! I was taken to this restaurant and was told iranian food was the best in the Mediterranean cuisine.

First off, the ambience was ok..given that this is supposed to be an ethnic restaurant. or that it was in a strip mall off of Roswell RD. had the food been great.

what I got was worst food than what I had at the kabob food court in Santa Monica.!!!! what the heck?
the meat was all dried up and just the rice on the side.

The food was awful....don't waste your time unless you are more concerned with belly dancers and hookahs

I Love this place. I have been to Fanoos in the past and was displeased with the management, but now since they are under New Management, it is great. The food is wonderful and there are better tasting appetizers that are made right. The atmosphere is amazing, its so open. I don't ever have to worry about someone else bumping my elbow do to a lack of space like other persian restaurants around the area. They are really revamping the place too. New logo and now they have a website online. Here is the link www.fanoospersiancuisine,com I am really imperessed with how devoted they are to the restaurant. Way to go Jay, and I will definately be back. -John

Thanks for wonderful food and nice ambient. And thanks to Jay, the owner, who is so friendly. It was the first time I ate at Fanoos and I enjoyed so much that it won't surely be the last time. I am going to tell all my friends to go there, enjoy the food and, by the way, meet Jay.

Watch out for over priced Medditrian Restaurants, i have heard this from alot of ppl that go to these Hookah Bars and order little plates of food and drinks and the bill comes in at over $600 dollars. and was totally not worth it.

We had a birthday party there with 25 people. They told us when we made reservations it would be about $15 a person. When they gave us the bill it was $950 for 25 people. We complained and then they lowered it to $500 which was $25 a person. All they served us was humus, yogurt and 6 small platters of meat. Don't every go here the owners are just trying to rip everybody off. They don't have alcohol and if you bring your own they charge you high prices to have it there.

I previously gave this restaurant a 2-star rating for a number of good reasons, particularly the value and quality. I visited Fanoos several months later and I was pleasantly surprised that they have improved the food quality, although in my view the value is still average.
I personally find the quality and value of food at Persepolis restaurant are better. Out of fairness to Fanoos, I decided to revise my feedback here and give them one more star.

We went there late on a weeknight after having sushi for dinner at Sushi Mia, and we loved it. We only had tea and the baklava, and the tea is very good, not at all bitter or under brewed which is kind of difficult for persian tea. The baklava was not in the greek or arabic (very syrupy sweet) style. It had a subtle sweetness that I liked. The atmosphere was something i'd expect in new york city. Will go there to eat and update my review.

Biggest rip-off since my last Persian dining experience in Moscow.......We went to Fanoos in Sandy Spring as a group for a birthday party. We were never told about any appetizer bar; however, the food was fairly good. Their Saturday night belly dancers consisted of combined grand total of one girl belly dancer that was a large site to see. This was when the restaurant was well over half full. I noticed someone brought in their own bottle of wine and I asked if this was permitted. The waiter said "SURE, IT IS PERMITTED!?. So off I went and picked up a bottle of white and red wine to have a variety for all at the party. But what the waiter failed to mention was there was going to be an $18.00 per bottle "CORK FEE" that popped up on our bill. I didn't complain then since it was my girl friend?s birthday party. I have called and left message to return my call but have yet to hear back from Fanoos. I will update this review if I do hear from them. Are all Persian restaurant owners this deceitful, should they not inform you of unexpected fees? (I kind of expected this in Moscow where the "special imported rice" was not listed on the menu and the waiter practically begged us to have rice with our meal -- which upon receiving the bill I discovered this "special imported rice" was about the same price as Fanoos Cork fee per person)

We love going out to eat Persian Food. So we went back to Fanoos when they opened their doors officially and WOW, the place reminded you of the Old Persian Tea Houses which existed until 100 years ago on the sides of the roads in Iran where the travelers rest, drank tea and smoked hookah. The decoration of the place was done by the owners and their people but I thought they hired a professional top of the line decorator from New York to do it. As we put foot in the restaurant we were transported to the traditional Iran from 100 years ago. You could feel, smell and taste the traditional Iran. Traditional Iran where the guest was the king and we were treated like king and queen. The staff would jump through any hoops for you to make you feel welcome, loved and relaxed. The food was fabulous as good as my Mom?s cooking. The appetizer bar is the most fabulous idea that I have ever seen. You have your choice of many appetizers that can actually be eaten with your meals.. We started going there two times a week, then three times a week and now at least four times a week. On Friday, Saturday and Sundays, they have entertainment with a live DJ and Belly Dancers. Their Selection of Persian Music is Great. Their Belly Dancers are very wonderful, talented and off course very beautiful. The biggest plus that I found with this restaurant was that if you want to enjoy the atmosphere, the absolute warm hospitality of the staff, enjoy the belly dancers or just smoke a hookah and drink couple cups of tea, you can do that and you don?t have to buy dinner. Usually we eat at home, however afterward every week we drive 38 miles from Ball Ground to Sandy Springs to just enjoy a hookah, some appetizers and off course the wonderful and delicious tea that they have. No other place or hobby that we had before can compete with going to Fanoos, The place is SIMPLY WONDERFUL. I RECOMMEND IT WITH THE DEEPEST SINCERITY. Two very happy Fans of Fanoos.
