Fantastic Karaoke Bar
by Lewis101
Since I'm one of the die-hard Karaoke Junkies who just happens to also like to get drunk on the cheap, I would like to suggest other Citysearch users to hit up the awesome Happy Hour specials at Radio Star. That's right folks, their Happy Hour deals go on until 9 p.m. from Monday thru Friday, featuring $3 domestic beers, $3.5 imported beers [Guinness included], and half priced cocktails among others.
The bartender girls, working the general bar/lounge area in the front of this venue, are super friendly and will even sing along with you on some of the songs that they personally like as well. So far, everytime I ever ventured into Radio Star [mostly on weeknights during their happy hour specials], these lovely bartender chicks would hook me, and couple of the friends I brought in, up with a few shots. I especially enjoyed that one super spicy shot which the tall-ish Korean bartender chick said was Radio Star's secret signature shot. Folks, it's spicy as hell and will guarantee to wake your ass up! Try it once and you will see what the hell I'm talking about. I dont' recall the name of the shot though, but it's not for those that can't take the heat for sure!
I have to admit that their song books are on of the best, and I like the overall ambience of their front bar/lounge area. It even has a stage for those of you who are Rock and Roll stars by singing on a stage to a live audience, including the lovely bartender chicks.
Personally, I have no shame left in my bones, so I prefer to get my Karaoke fixes right in front of total strangers. I also like the fact that at Radio Star, I never really had to wait to sing my next song more than a couple of minutes like at some other wanna-be Karaoke bars [where there's a long song list in the queue before your next song will eventually come up again]. Not here, at least not in their front general bar/lounge area where I have always had a blast singing my tunes.
The owner of this bar is actually a really nice and friendly dude. He would even come sit down with his customers and hanging out with us folks too. I think that's a nice little touch, and yes having the bar owner doing shots with us is also a good thing, and will guarantee to get me to come back here more often.
I have brought in a few of my Karaoke friends from other karaoke bars to this Radio Star recently just so they can see for themselves. So far, everyone I brought over here has enjoy him/herself, and we always left happily drunk without fails.
The foods here is amazing the few times I have eaten whatever my friends would order, but I usually just hit this spot purely for their sweet happy hour drinks and shooting the shit with their friendly bartender chicks. These gals can also sing with the best of them too, so feel free to ask one of the lovelies to help you sing a song, duet stylee.
Oh, I think this place might also be a good spot to hold a work-related after work get-together holiday event as well. I'm pretty sure the owner dude will be willing to let you negotiate the rates and whatnots with him to book/reserve a room for your group. But then again, I prefer to do my karaoke croonings in front of total strangers rather than in a private room, so I can only recommend trying out their general bar/lounge area in the front.
Finally, in case one of the peeps working this bar ever gets to read my review for their venue, I just wanna give you peeps a shout out and "keep up the good works Radio Star staff", and don't forget to hook this Karaoke Junkie up with a few shots every now and then, huh?

Solid Karaoke in Korea-town
by jaydubbs
I met my friend at Radio Star Karaoke for a late lunch at 3 p.m. on August 12, 2009. The decor is great! Concrete walls give the place the distressed look of a bomb shelter, which creates a kind of forbidding appeal. I wish the public bar area space were larger because I prefer to sing in public and on weekend nights I could see that area being very crowded. There is the option of singing on-stage or just walking about, which is nice. The mic.'s were new and good as long as you sing straight into them and at close distance. The sound system is forgiving. My friend and I ordered Korean dishes that were made off premises, which were very good although quite pricey. We both ordered pancake-like dishes: my contained chicken and my friends sea-food and mine cost $16, which I think is a bit steep, considering that the dish is basically a scallion pancake with chicken in it that normally sells at appetizer prices at Chinese restaurants. One nice touch is the light show during the songs. On the down side and this seems to hold true for almost all karaoke bars that offer karaoke song lists in several languages is that the song list is quite limited, which is always very deflating. I counted only 5 Neil Diamond songs, a handful of Sinatra songs, and the song list didn't have the songs I'm been singing recently like Gavin DeGraws "I don't want to be," Leonard Cohen's "Halleluyah" or Pearl Jam's "Black," just to name a few. I also noticed that the song list has virtually no songs from musicals. Also, the lyric screen doesn't give much advance notice of up-coming lyrics. The screen only shows a few up-coming words so you better know your lyrics really well or else you'll stumble through your song. All in all I'd give it an above-average rating. 3 of 5 stars.
Pros: mic.s, sound system, decor, food, lighting
Cons: song list, lyric screen

radiostar is the BOMB!!
by sammy87
I went to radiostar last thursday night around 9 pm for a birthday party with around 30 people. They have a very large room that fits 40 people and thie price was very cheap for 30 people. After last thursday, I would definitely recommend radiostar to anyone who are thinking of having company parties, birthday parties, or just to meet with friends to have fun.
The package we did was an option of 20 dollars an hour for unlimited open bar and the karaoke room. It was ridiculous the amount of alcohol I consumed that night.
The staff was very helpful and always attentive. They were very quick with orders and did not interfere at all with our parties.
The food that I sampled with my friends seemed to be very tasty. I would recommend the hot wings or their sampler for the ultimate meal with your drinks.
I would definitely recommend this place over every other karaoke to anyone that loves to karaoke and getting drunk. This place has the best design , great staff, and beautiful sound system, and a reasonable song selection. you will really love this place!
Pros: very unique theme, clean, good prices, and helpful staff
Cons: remote control to find songs might be confusing at first

Is this KTV or Heaven?
by kauboy
Usually you find some drunk over weight business singing Michael Jackson's Bad off tune. At Radio Star, you get that, but at least you are surrounded by beautiful people in a beautifully designed space who can share in your misery. If you still can't stand it, just book a private room you cheap @#$!
6 Stars - this place rules.
Kauboy out.
Pros: Great Decor, Booze, Girls
Cons: My body can only handle so much fun
