Great Mexican Food.

by pmaried

Stopped in for a light lunch and the soup was to die for and healthy...made from scratch chicken soup. I would recommend Rico's for great, fresh food.

Pros: Great and Fresh Options

Bummer!

by brightlights

Went to the new Rico's in Atascocita this weekend with family in town for the first time and was sorely disappointed in the food and the service. While the staff was friendly, the service was VERY slow, despite the fact that the restaurant wasn't busy (1:45 PM) at all and we were seated in the bar area despite tables being available in the main dining area. The food was mediocre at best...the worst part was, out of the 6 of us who ate different entrees, all were exceptionally GREASY (seriously! You could see bright orange grease on every plate! Even the fish tacos!), to the point of it being difficult to eat quite honestly, and the shrimp was strangely soggy/mealy and unusually "fishy" for shrimp. All in all, it was definitely not worth the price of the food and no one at our table finished even 1/3 of the food on their plates. Kind of fare that we'd normally expect from cheap Mexican fast food. I was actually embarassed taking guests here at my suggestion and found myself apologizing in the parking lot! The upside? Kids eat free from the child's menu (albeit not great quality items, but hey...it's free and they're kids lol), and Rico's has GREAT chips and salsa and a wonderful green sauce with it to boot. So if you're in it for a few cocktails/beers and some chips/salsa, this is your place. But the food itself? You'd be much better off with one of the holes in the wall in Atascocita/Kingwood and shouldn't expect much quality from the menu at Ricos. No great detail taken to create flavorful dishes (sans GREASE!!) and not much creativity in the menu at all. And did I mention? WOW! The GREASE! :-( Just sort of "okay" in terms of chain-type Mexican joints, I suppose. I don't expect it'll last long here and we probably won't go again. Sorry for the not-so-great review! At least we tried...:-)

Pros: Great chips and salsa

Cons: greasy food, slow service, mediocre cuisine
